The replacement of the bible with experience identifies Pentecostalism as a revival of the ancient heresy of mysticism. Pentecostals favorite words are: experience, power, feeling, ecstasy etc. This is Pentecostalism’s baptism “in” the Spirit, this is the nature of the Pentecostal meeting, this is its appeal to religious people, this is why women have a leading place in the movement.
Psst... your misogyny is showing.

This is who you're talking about, a politician, doesn't hardly fit your usage. :p
You are just like a dog with a bone, I already acknowledged and aplogized for the mistakes I had posted and I had hoped that the photo would be seen as a joke.... at least by anyone who was familiar with GGC.

Did you apologize? I know you answer posts without quoting them, so it is hard to follow whether or not you've responded. Reply with a quote and people would know this.

It is really hard to believe that you posted that as a joke to be totally honest. Methinks you're just trying to cover you're bahookey on that one. (y)

It's easy to dismiss a doctrine by dismissing some who promote it. It's also a genetic fallacy.

This thread is about speaking in tongues, not Pentecostalism.
Pentedcostalism is all about speaking in tongues, SIGN gifts are the tie that binds them.

Perhaps, but the reverse is not true. :)
reverse? if you mean that other denominations have adherents that 'speak in tongue' ...yes, correct, Catholics, Methodists, Bapticostals, there is quite a list. Never any shortage of apostates.

Even your apology "wasn't", and was still erroneous because you simply refuse to get your facts straight.

Hint: If you expect people to see your "apologies" you need to try quoting the person so they get notification. I for one don't go searching through threads to see what you may post.

Anyhow, thought I'd serve you some more of that humble pie in my last post, and here. LOL! :p

Sorry to steal your thunder of your perpetual trying to appear right even when you're wrong.

George. Gordon. A picture to prove yourself correct.

You know.

Then it was a joke.

Uh-huh.

You just keep trying to appear right, somehow, no matter what.

Can someone explain to me the uniqueness of this gift of speaking in tongues which most congregations in my neighbourhood insist on acquiring? Is it in any way superior to or more edifying than other gifts?
Have you received understanding of tongues--this post may be late--if not may I recommend to you, from the writings of Gideon, the book: The Doctrine and Teaching of Speaking With Tongues. There is no truth or understanding comparable to this teaching!

There are bible concepts that one must understand first in order to peel away all the false and incorrect doctrines and teaching that are prevalent today and then you will see clearly for yourself what it means to speak in tongues. For what good does it say “we must speak in tongues” and those who say such things have a false view of tongues! We should understand what tongues are before we are provoked to speak in tongues--is this not reasonable understanding? Therefore, before anything, read this book from the writings of Gideon so that you will know what tongues truly are and even be able to show others their fault from this teaching as well.

I do not believe that anyone on this forum knows what it means to speak in tongues or has this understanding and truth at this time.

Wrong, very wrong.
I understand the truth fully in regards to praying in tongues [sign of the evidence of truly being baptized in the Holy Spirit]
and also the church gift of diversity of tongues that are operated at a worship meeting followed by interpretation.

The Bible is no ambiguous about speaking in tongues. Read everything written about it in context and a simple understanding becomes readily available.

Speaking in tongues is not a gift for a true worshipper (John 4:23-24) but is a sign that shall follow those who believe the gospel
as fully preached by Jesus and the apostles. It is the Bible given evidence of truly being baptized in the Holy Spirit, and it is our
prayer language - a spiritual language described in the NT as praying in the (Holy) Spirit.

Mark 16:17 and these signs shall follow them that believe: Strongs 4592: sēmeia σημεῖα signs

15 And he [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick,
and they shall recover.

1Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
gifts, χαρισμάτων (charismatōn) Strong's Greek 5486: From charizomai; a gratuity, i.e. Deliverance;, a endowment, i.e. religious qualification, or miraculous faculty.

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues;
to another the interpretation of tongues:

Absolute nonsense!

I have been using the gift of tongues for 35 years, not only in private prayer (for edification, 1Cor 14v4) but also in a Church gathering for "Interpretation" (1Cor 14v27), I have never used it as a sign for unbelievers (as it was used on the Day of Pentecost, 1Cor 14v22, Acts chapter 2).

For those interested you can find a study Here on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, including the gift of tongues.
