Hey Everyone--
How did you alll survive the Big Storm last night? I hope everyone is somewhere safe and warm. Although my particular area didn't get as much snow as expected, I looked out the window this morning and saw that my neighbors across the street had maybe 5 inches of snow in their driveway. "Cool," I thought,"this should be a piece of cake."
How wrong I was.
What I failed to realize, until I actually got out there, is that because of the wind, my driveway seemed to have caught all the drifts. Although I purposely parked only 4 feet from the road, the snow behind my car was well over my knees, and in some places, up to my waist. The only heavy duty equipment I had was a well-worn shovel, and although I live about 20 minutes from where I work, I didn't want to call in because I knew several fellow employees wouldn't be able to make it, and I didn't want to leave my boss stranded. However, I did call to tell him I'd be a little late, even though I started shoveling an hour before I was supposed to leave.
The even worse part is the that plow had made a narrow path--on the OTHER side of the road, so I essentially had to shovel a good 12 feet before I could even get onto a possibly driveable place in the road. Never mind that I then got stuck while turning the corner onto the next road... thank goodness God reminded me to keep an extra shovel in the back of my car!!
I often wonder if these things happen so that when/if I find the right guy that God has for me, I will appreciate him all the more, especially if he is willing to help out with life's everyday inconveniences.
Believe me, if I marry a guy who would be like, "Baby, don't you worry, I'll take care of this," (though I'd surely have my own shovel right there and would go out to help--but just the fact that he would offer and mean it sincerely would melt my heart), I would surely have a hot beverage of his choice (coffee, cocoa, etc.) waiting for him when he came back inside, and his most favorite dinner on the table later in the day or week if at all possible.
So, just for the fun of it... I thought I'd see what you all out there plan to do amidst the future avalanche of everyday life. The poll is multiple choice, so feel free to choose as many answers as you feel would apply, and be sure to have fun!
Then go get yourself a cup of hot cocoa... with extra marshmallows, of course.
