Look at thissin' again please.......and ask yourself......"why are we being baptized?"

1) to have our sins forgiven

2) because our sins were forgiven when we repented and accepted Christ into our lives as Lord and Savior

Look at it another way

"Repent and jump for joy for the remission of sin"

1) jumping for joy to have sins forgiven

2) Jumping for joy because sins were forgiven

Yeah...........I'm gonna go with #2 on these...........water baptism DOES NOT save us. Water baptism is the first act of obedience by a new believer. Should we be water baptized? YES. Christ told us to. Why? Because water baptism serves as a witness to the world and to the Church that we have become a disciple of Christ. Just as the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove rested on the shoulder of Christ as a witness that He was the Son of God............when He was water baptized.

Our sins are forgiven through the cleansing of the precious blood of Christ, and this is applied upon repentance, confession, and accepting Christ into our lives ............ water baptism FOLLOWS salvation........does not cause salvation.

(my thoughts)

Oh, by the way.........the example I gave was FIRST used by Rev. Adrian Rogers. Y'all may have heard of him?

Adrian Pierce Rogers (September 12, 1931 – November 15, 2005) served three terms as president of the Southern Baptist Convention (1979–1980 and 1986–1988). He was also a Southern Baptist pastor whose church services aired on television, and a conservativeauthor.[1] Rogers was born in West Palm Beach, Florida

Really need to post the WHOLE verse, and read the Chapter for context

The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

You understand what baptism this is speaking of? Well, no, you do not, given your comments...........never mind

There's two kinds of deliverance.

One is throughout trials and tough times and the other is eternal deliverance.

For e.g... 'he who endures to the end will be saved' .. the surrounding verses are about deliverance from trials and tribulations.

Whereas with the likes of.. 'whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life' is eternal deliverance.

If we separate these two kinds out.. it clears up confusion

3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us...
In 1 Peter 3:21, Peter tells us that baptism now saves you, yet when Peter uses this phrase he continues in the same sentence to explain exactly what he means by it. He said that baptism now saves you-not the removal of dirt from the flesh (that is, not as an outward, physical act which washes dirt from the body--that is not what saves you), "but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (that is, as an inward, spiritual transaction between God and the individual, a transaction that is symbolized by the outward ceremony of water baptism).

*Just as the eight people in the ark were "saved THROUGH water" as they were IN THE ARK. They were not literally saved "by" the water. Hebrews 11:7 is clear on this point (..built an ARK for the SAVING of his household).

*NOTE: The context reveals that ONLY the righteous (Noah and his family) were DRY and therefore SAFE. In contrast, ONLY THE WICKED IN NOAH'S DAY CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE WATER AND THEY ALL PERISHED.

Jesus said:
Mark 16:16 KJV

Mark 16:16 - He who believes and is baptized will be saved (general cases without making a qualification for the unusual case of someone who believes but is not baptized) but he who does not believe will be condemned. The omission of baptized with "does not believe" shows that Jesus does not make baptism absolutely essential to salvation. Condemnation rests on unbelief, not on a lack of baptism. So salvation rests on belief. NOWHERE does the Bible say "baptized or condemned."

If water baptism is absolutely required for salvation, then why did Jesus not mention it in the following verses? (3:15,16,18; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26). What is the ONE requirement that Jesus mentions 9 different times in each of these complete statements? BELIEVES.
*What happened to baptism? *Hermeneutics.

John 3:18 - He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who (is not water baptized? - NO) does not believe is condemned already, because he has not (been water baptized? - NO) because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

There is a deliverance, here on earth, in water baptism, but it is not the cause of our eternal deliverance. Repenting, confessing, and accepting also delivers us here on earth, but is not the cause of our eternal deliverance. Eternal deliverance is by God's grace, without the help of man.

You are on the right track and have a good foundation for understanding Jesus's doctrine.

What if you get baptized like Jesus said in Matthew 28:19?

Not saved? Has to be in the name of Jesus? Is the name of Jesus ok in english, or does it have to be in hebrew, or ancient hebrew, or greek, or aramaic?

You've totally missed his point. He is on track, you're derailed with your false gospel.

Just another PB false gospelizer out looking for "converts" to your mess.
