Micah 5 speaks of the Assyrian coming.
Who is this speaking of and when does he come?
Mic 5:1 Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Mic 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
Mic 5:4 And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
Mic 5:5 And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
Mic 5:6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
This is definitely a future prophesy for it speaks of Jesus as being the ruler in Israel, which He was not ruler of Israel in the past for they rejected Him, and Jesus will be the one to defeat them, which He did not fight on earth in the past.
But while it speaks of Assyria, the truth is when Jesus fights on earth on the side of Israel it is all nations together being led by the antichrist, man of sin, New Age Christ.
And Israel is protected from physical attack for the 7 years period, and gets attacked after the saints are caught up to heaven, and the wrath of God is poured on the world leading up to the battle of Armageddon.
Which according to Daniel 7 Babylon will never have physical dominion again, but her ways are still on earth, and Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and the Roman Empire, does not fall until Jesus puts them down for their ways are still on earth, which is why the beast kingdom has 10 horns-Roman Empire, lion-Babylon, Bear-Medo-Persia, leopard-Greece.
So the beast kingdom in Revelation is Babylon in spirit, for she represents human religion, the occult, and the kingdom of man.
By the time anybody tries to do anything to Israel, and Jesus steps in, it is all the nations that go against Israel, so I wonder if this too is a reference to being in the spiritual sense Assyria according to their ways, as Babylon is in the spiritual sense according to her ways, and not actually a physical dominion position, or attack of the actual country that they are from, and what they ruled.
For Assyria is the second head of the beast, which the 7 heads are the 7 kingdoms that have been on earth, and the 8th king, the antichrist is of the 7, for the devil influenced those kingdoms.
Jesus saves Israel when He fights for them, but it is not only Assyria that goes against them, but all the nations, for God said He is going to gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle, and then the LORD shall go forth and fight against those nations as He fought in the day of battle, and the LORD my God shall come and all the saints with thee.
So I believe it is a spiritual reference to Assyria of her ways, and how she operated, and when Jesus fights for Israel it is all the nations together that go against Israel.
Like the Bible speaks of Babylon in the future, but it cannot be in the physical sense for they shall never have physical dominion again, and is not actually speaking of the land of Babylon, and what they ruled, but it is in the spiritual sense of how she operated, and her ways, that influenced all nations with the belief system she had.
So I tend to believe it is Assyria in the spiritual sense of how she operated, and her ways, that is an influence as well on the nations, as well as Medo-Persia, Greece, and the Roman Empire also have an influence on the nations of how they operated, and their ways, although Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece, will never have physical dominion again as a kingdom, and not really coming from their area alone.
For it is all nations together.
Or it could be speaking that Assyria is along with the nations, and points them out specifically, but they are still with the nations, and do not attack them alone, but they are with the nations.
For when Jesus fights for Israel it is all the nations.
So it could be the beast kingdom represents the ways of all the heathen kingdoms that were on earth that the devil influenced, which is Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Roman Empire, ten horn kingdom-the world split in to ten section with a leader in each section.
And can point them out in the Old Testament as going against Israel in the future, although it is not really them as their territory that goes against them alone, for it is all nations, but as a reference of their ways, or that they have punishment coming for their ways, and going against Israel in the past.
But there is no lone wolf from here on out that goes against Israel, for when they are attacked in the future it is all nations, and nobody can mess with them beforehand, for God has the plan to restore the kingdom on earth to the Jews, and they can only go against her when God is ready to fight the world.
Joe 3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
Joe 3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
Joe 3:4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
Joe 3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
Joe 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
Joe 3:11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
Joe 3:12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
Joe 3:13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
Joe 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
Joe 3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
Joe 3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
Except for the pesky Palestinians that are already in the land of Israel, they will be the only ones to give the Jews trouble, but God said that is how you want to play, let's go to war, gather up the Gentiles and let's rock.
Other than that nobody is going against Israel until it is all nations.
