Does entering into Jesus' rest mean we're to give up the Sabbath day? Is the 4th commandment part of the moral law of God?

Hmm I wonder what would happen if NORAD shutdown for the sabbath.
God did not teach that important essential things had to stop on the Sabbath.
Mat 12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

But to go to work when you don't need to (between you and God) breaking the sabbath law.
Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

No, but then they claimed the 1844 date was correct and twisted Miller's date setting into Jesus entering into the heavenly sanctuary. Another bogus idea to feed the "flock".

Hebrews 4:14-16 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus the Great High Priest
14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,[a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

It is not bogus when the Bible states that Jesus is our High Priest and represents us before God.

Hebrews 5:
5 In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him,

“You are my Son;
today I have become your Father.”[b]

6 And he says in another place,

“You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.”[c]

7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Revelation 20:
The Final Judgment
11Then I saw a great white throne and the One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead, and each one was judged according to his deeds.…

Jesus is our High Priest and is going over the Final Judgment.

Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Luk_23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
Act_13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Act_13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Act_17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
Act_18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
I do not see Jesus command us to worship oN sabbath in These verse. It can be Multy interpretation in These verse. These verse is about rest, not worship in sabbath. As soon as we accept Jesus we get the rest. Not only oN sabbath. If we not accept Jesus we do not have a rest, we may not physically work, but mentally not rest.

If you don’t have to go to work so be it, but if you have to go to work so be it...
obey God or Man.
If you love God or man more will determine the answer.

It is about obedience.
Your Choice...
John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

If your boss says work this weekend Saturday and Sunday or your fired, well give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar
Four men were once told to bow down to a golden image or be thrown into a fire...….. was it wrong to bow down to the golden image? If they did they were giving glory to a man and not God. They chose not to bow down to the image and obey God who had said thou shalt not bow down to any graven image. Hum... seems to me that was a commandment also. However it was made into a law and a real test of faith for those four Hebrews obey a man made law or die.

They told the king who gave them a second chance to bow down that no matter what - as in their God was able to save them but if He did not save them they would still not bow down to the golden idol and obey the mandated law and yes, they were willing to give up their life to obey God rather than man.

Right now Sabbath keeping is not being put to the test in a life and death matter but should a time ever come that it is tested as a life and death matter well...…... it is one of the original 10 commandments written with God's own finger who started it with the word Remember. I know what I would have to do.

And PS: I was told that once by a boss and I told them I still would not be able to work from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday... I was willing to loose my job, and guess what? God honored my faith and I was not fired and did not have to work on Sabbath as it was a test from that company on my faith and no I did not threaten them with legal means I was willing to loose that job I was trusting in God and knew either way it would work out....and it did. That's real faith when it is ultimately tested.

In addressing Christians, I believe there is no misunderstanding in using the word Jew/Jewish/Judaism etc. A nation, a people, a group of people and their history.

That chosen nation of God, Israel, was a failure for our sakes that no nation would be above the people of God. That Israel was lead directly by God through instructions from Him through the priesthood.

It was doomed to failure but it wqas not Jewish, there was no such thing as Judaism, for the nation w was God's.

Now all who praise and believe God in Jesus Christ are the true Jews. Judaism never existed until after Christ for the Word, the law and the country were all from God.

If you look closely at what transpired with Israel, you will see the evolution of a new theology called Judaism, and in this regard, Jesus was not Jewish, but He walked the earth as of the tribe of Judah ato fulfill all righteousness, prophecy.

You may as well say Jesus was a Baptist……..Jesus was of no denomination, but He came to renew God''s people as the nation of God, that is all who believe Jesus. We are praisers of God...be we Jews by birth or Christians. If we worship God we are Praisers of Yah.

Dear Brother or Sister in Jesus Christ, Yeshua.

When the Holy Spirit entered into me in the 19j60's, I was given to many things from, I believe, God, Himself.

I began reading the Bible cover-to-cover, sometimes several times a year. I was graced to share the Word in a circuit of the Rocky Mountains, the Universiy of Wisconson at Madison, and my own university downstate in Illinois.

After three years of this the Lord told me to go to Israel through several individuals, and finally sealing it by a verse He showed me in the Word.

None of the above counts for anything except the Blood of the Lamb of God for my own Salvation, not the studying, not the p personal sacrifices, and definitely not knowledge outside of the knowledge of Jesus Christ. However I have learned some things that are useful and quite helpful for my own faith.

My immediate lesson from the Holy Spirit was and is how the majority of believers have ignored, even killed the Holy Spirit in their congregations denying the power of God at every turn. I was and am also indignant as to the treatment of what Jesus Christ taught and how it is perverted by so many denominations beginning with the Great Harlot and ending with her daughters, both mentioned in the Word, after having learned it later from the printed text.

In short, if I share something with you about the Hebrew language's influence on the faith of Abraham as taught by Jesus Christ, it is strictly to edify. All blessings in Yeshua.....j

Amen! As GOD did from HIS. That is the REST we are to enter. HE stopped working on the Seventh Day. So we stop working on the Seventh Day. That is how GOD did from HIS.

If we enter into the Gospel Rest GOD speaks again of the Seventh Day.

For he spake in a certain place (Mt Sinai)of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again (HE SPEAKS), If they shall enter into my rest (the Gospel).

Would someone please explain to me if I have this right? 1) The Mosiac “old” covenant was the Decalogue (10 commandments plus all the ceremonial law); 2) those in Christ are now under the new covenant (under the law of Christ which is to love God and to love others, which sums up the law and the prophets); 3) the new covenant did away with the old covenant; 4) there are parts of the old covenant that can been seen in the new covenant (to love) but none of the ceremonial things (including keeping any sabbath days (including the weekly Sabbath))... thanks🙂
As we real scripture and try to understand it we have some facts about God to guide us. First, is the character of the God who inspired the words. The Psalms give us that, and we can rely on that God is entirely good and anything God does for us is done for our benefit. God's goal for us is to live in this life with joy and abundance and for us to live eternally. The world God created has evil in it and that evil has the opposite goal for us.

The other fact is that God is eternal, different from us who lives with time. For God there is only the I Am, God never changes as we do, so there is no old and new with God. So we need to look to how our world changes, but God's world does not.

Now, the old covenants were given to people who lived a certain way at a certain time and given for their benefit so they could live well. They were given the best way they could understand and could apply for their good. The major covenant was how to live well, it was given through Moses. God is truth, God cannot give anything that is not truth, so we can read of all His covenants knowing it was the best for the people of that time and consists of truth. The truths of God are eternal truths, you cannot destroy truth so the old covenant cannot be destroyed. You cannot destroy God's word, you cannot destroy truth.

The new covenant adds a great truth. It has all the love and goodness of the old covenant and adds that God is sending the Holy Ghost to all believers to aid them in living the old covenant, adding that the covenants are about love. Christ giving His blood is new, it has all the grace and forgiveness of the old covenant but Christ's blood does so much more.

in the old way there was blood shed, a high priest, a temple, many things. They were truth. Now all those truths are made complete. They are not done away with so much as the same ones are made more real, are finished into reality. Scripture tells us the first was a shadow of the real, now reality has come. If we look at the shadows there is much information in them of what our reality today is like.

Where is the phrase "entering into Jesus' rest" found in the Word.

I know the quote in Matthew where Jesus invites us all to learn from Him because His yoke is easy and His burden is light, but I do not find that phrase cited above.

I know we are to work to enter into His rest, but we do not by any means have rest in this age, for our father is working always and so must we…………. The works He graces us with of course.
