Wellllll, you're partially right that each person does belong to their Creator but also to their spouse.

1 Corinthians 7:4
For the wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. Likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.
Beat me to it. But I didn't want to face orange kitty wrath. So I'll stand behind you,if you don't mind. Incoming kitty litter!!!

I can't stand those stupid leggings

if everyone and their uncle were wearing them, I'd be the only original person around

Single men take this lesson from me: if a man marries a woman who likes to wear tight revealing clothes. You can't decide afterwards to quote scriptures, and lay down the law. Oh no, it doesn't work like that.

You need to lay down the law before you get married, if the woman agrees, then great. But if she doesn't, then you break things off and wait on God. If you go ahead with it, then expect there to be some problems.

Some of you men are attracted to the sexy clothes, its what the woman used to catch you in the first place. So why do you think she's going to change her style?

Oh she's a married woman now, so she should be old and frumpy and obey you? Is that it?

You're making some judgement calls here sister. You don't know how she dressed before they were married. And you can be modest without being old and frumpy. I don't think the OP indicated he wanted her to wear a flour sack.

Well since there be no further replies from you, it seams that I will have to go on a journey, yes a journey to distant lands and far away places, that I may solve this riddle of why I'm being anti.
I have been on such a journey. You can learn a lot about yourself. Being 'anti' is a negative term and I don't believe that about you at all. From my perspective you are positive and upbeat.

Does it mean that, he can insist that she wears only the clothes that he likes?
No,but there's a fine line. My hubby is 6'4,that alone causes attention. I wouldn't be pleased if he walked out the door with his shirt half buttoned. He wears a t-shirt under his buttoned up shirts, always has. But if he didn't we'd be having a come to Jesus moment. I wouldn't appreciate it.

it's normal here too. sadly, seems the 250 lb women have cornered the market

oh I dress for my sweetie too. but I don't like other men staring at me....which has happened often but less as I get older...well the age of the men has changed

the best looks fail and when you are as young as you are...well...you don't think of it

I used to wear the skimpiest bikinis in public years back...but then everybody did

I will say I do not deliberately try to dress down

'come to Jesus moment'...that always makes me laugh

I used to go with a guy who was 6' 5"...a head turner. women threw themselves at him...he would always unbutton his shirt too much and I would button it one up for him. He wasn't a Christian and I was not acting like one at the time

anyway, no I don't think a Christian woman should dress in such a way that men ogle her

and Abraham was pretty bothered by the attention paid his wife...seems that would be a normal response for someone who is a believer and not encouraging his wife to strut her stuff

non-Christians not so much of course

further, we are told not to dress in an exhibitionist type of way...but paranoia is not called for either...there are sects that insist women wear their hair in a tight bun and dresses helping to clean the dust.

some happy medium perhaps?

Rofl spent too long in the south. Funny story. Hubby used to work for Fed Ex and had to deliver to the,er,no other way to say it,porn store. I think the lady that ran it was sweet on him. So one day we were getting groceries and here she came, big, loud and proud. She headed straight for him. Then he introduced me as his wife. She backed off a bit and made a joke about her "job". Cracked me up because he was embarrassed. I haven't had a good chance to chat with her and invite her to church but we'll see. Hubby may stay home that day. rofl.

I dont even really notice anymore. I usualy wear tight pants and a longer shirt.
Funfact: the most scary thing I have ever seen, I saw in Mallorca when a man came in with a bright speedo (that guy was way over 60) and a belly as if he had 8 children... THAT was frightening...way more frightening than leggings

If your wife wore tight leggings in public that clearly showed off her lower body...wouldn't you feel at least a little pang of jealousy at seeing other guys ogle her goods, and wouldn't you want her to wear something else since her body belongs to you alone (as the bible clearly states) and you don't want other guys perusing it?

I think I come down the middle on this one. To me leggings are for two places, home relaxing or workout. If you want to wear them in public, wear a long shirt to cover yourself. I was so happy when long shirts came in. I've bought so many so when they go out again I'll have enough. I don't see any reason to show that particular body part off with skin tight clothes. And your wife ought to understand that. When I go out I ask my husband "is this too low cut,too tight?" He'll give me an honest opinion, which is what I'm asking for.

As I said in an earlier post this goes both ways. We've discussed it. Men wearing skinny jeans. I went to a concert with my hubby and my parents. I know the man that is head of the group. But since I saw them last they added a young man, probably in his late 20s early 30s. Handsome, tall young man, married. His pants were so tight it made me embarrassed for him. There was no way you couldn't notice and my mother who sat in the front row said it was far worse! Now I can't judge the young mans heart or intent. I can tell you this,if he showed up to my concert dressed like that we'd be taking a visit to Wal-Mart. I don't think you have to dress shabby. I've had complete strangers, women, compliment my clothes. Women of all ages. And it makes me think I've struck the right chord in dress.

Without being vulgar we have to take into account that women especially are all built differently and "endowed" differently. My sister is very slim and she can wear many things I could not because of body type. Something she can wear would look vulgar on me. So it takes a little bit of common sense. My dear departed grandmother use to say "you should dress as if you're meeting the Queen". Would you want your behind and chest hung out? No. You can dress with style and be modest.

oh don't even!

I think male ballet dancers started that

it has long been my understanding that men do not really see themselves as others do while women cannot castigate their looks enough (generally speaking of course)
