Notice the difference between Peter and Judas:

Jesus prays for Peter, but no prayer for Judas is recorded!
Hi Hevosmies, no prayer for Judas because Jesus knows the heart of man and He knew who the enemy was. The guilt that Judas felt for his betrayal was overwhelming.

The life of Judas should be a lesson for those who would follow Jesus for personal gain.

If I wanted to be mean, I would remain silent and allow you to continue to believe a lie and live in fear of losing God's love
"live in fear of losing God's love" - do you mean I should become conceited like Israel did?

Paul consulted with the apostles to make sure he was was running the race in vain.

I went in response to a revelation and set before them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did this privately to those who seemed to be leaders, for fear that I was running or had run my race in vain.
Gal 2:2

We need fear and respect for our Lord and not presumption.

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
Phil 2:12-13

Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear.
1 Peter 1:17

Some confuse this with

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18

We have fear of God out of reverence, not fear because we should be punished. His grace removes fear of punishment.

When you know Jesus and the cross, the fear is we lose sight of its reality, and get swayed by the world, not fear of losing
Gods love, which is certain and concrete. But then the propoganda thinks knowing we are His and can walk away, means
we are only doing things out of fear, does not know the meaning of true love. True love is defined by choice.

Hi Goodnewsman, read John 17:12, decon is right, "Judas Iscariot was "Lost and doomed to destruction."

Apart from mishandling scripture and coming to wrong conclusions your sympathies should be with the One who laid down His life for the human race not sympathetic for the one who deceived our Savior.

John 17:12
While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
Have you ever deceived our savior, lie to him, or betrayed him? Should I be sympathetic toward you,?

Again Judas did not start out in the ministry As a thief.... He was called by God chosen by God ordained by God to be an apostle and preached the gospel Mark 3

Did Jesus give Judas a false anointing to preach the gospel in Mark 3? Of course not he was a friend to Judas and the Bible said a friend loveth at all times

My point is this Jesus did not set Judas up for failure. Judas was tempted just like you and gave in to that temptation just like you and I

Does the bible not say it is not the will of God that any man should perish?

It was not the will of God that Judas go to hell. Judas is in hell today because he chose to go there

You know what is funny or pathetic you guys are willing to dismiss everybodys sin who calls himself a Christian except for Judas and I know why because Judas Totally destroys your Doctrine

It has been said on thread that even a reprobate could still go to heaven

I have been told that a man can go to heaven and NOT EVEN LOVE GOD

BUT JUDAS WAS BORN A DEVIL AND HAD NO CHANCE OF SALVATION

Using your own logic let me ask you, if you ever commit the sin Judas committed can't we write you off and call you an unsaved devil who will go to hell?.......... Wait...... No you couldn't do that because that too would mess up your Doctrine as well

◄ 2 Timothy 2 ►
English Standard Version

1You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men,a who will be able to teach others also. 3Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. 7Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

8Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, 9for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! 10Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11The saying is trustworthy, for:

If we have died with him, we will also live with him;
12if we endure, we will also reign with him;
if we deny him, he also will deny us;
13if we are faithless, he remains faithful—

for he cannot deny himself.

14Remind them of these things, and charge them before Godb not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,c a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness,

****

Did Jesus reject Peter for denying Him three times?

Or did he declare to the Pharisees and scribes who claimed that Jesus did his healing by the power of Satan and not the Holy Spirit to be destined to Hell?

Both denied Jesus, but which one was saved and which ones condemned?

The Bible doesn't contradict itself.

Jesus says none shall snatch us from His hand

Either you believe it or you believe a lie and live in fear of losing God's love and grace.
Your honest opinion do you think Judas went to heaven when he died?

And he was telling the truth as evidenced by the following....

GodsGrace101 said:
GOD can EARN your trust...

But YOU can't EARN salvation.

Guess you're better than God.
Talk about pride....

GodsGrace101 said:
That's because salvation IS earned ....
But must go now.
Has she ever admitted to this contradiction sh has made, she would not when i pointed them out, maybe you had better luck? I am back where i can not see her posts.

The discussion here centres on do we need to walk like Jesus.
One group say no, impossible, the other group say this is our calling.
What group says no, please share.

There is a lot of distracting tactics, which is mainly accusations of lying and slander, lol.
And those using such tactics are normally the blinkered group who cannot face open
debate. Ever meet flat earthers, similar group.
So now your against lieing and slander?

Incorrect.

Both groups say you should walk like Jesus.

One says you will lose your salvation if you don't.

The other says God has secured you eternally by giving you His Holy spirit and He will chastened you and He will hold you on his hands so no one can take you from God. God is sanctifing you. You can never sin so badly that God's grace can't cleanse you.

It's not a license to sin but a call for all sinners to look to God for healing.
Someone gets it, amen!

I get confused about this chain of logic.

I come to faith. I am saved. I come to believe I could lose my faith, and the promise. I am not saved.
I come to faith. I am saved. I come to deny Jesus, God and everything. I am still saved.

Now this is like a tick box faith. Get the right tick box, no problems, get the wrong combination, oppsss.

And even more oddly, the perceptive "believers" can tell who is going to the fire and who is not by the
special test, could you lose faith?

In this world, the unforgivable faith is to believe you might not continue in it. Not exactly dumb considering
most people who come to some form of faith do not continue in this conviction their whole life or attend church.

So in this theology God is the God of those who do not care. Not exactly the picture of those who have overcome
death with the testimony of their faith.

So it is not difficult to suggest this view is actually a faith of the dispossessed, who want to make sense of their
struggles without victory, and desperation for acceptance despite not being transformed within.

Again wrong analysis I can find forgiveness and repentance -- "a contrite heart God will not despise." All of Judas actions are that of a criminal, with the exception that after he hung himself there was no time to find forgiveness or repent of his sins.

Let God be the Judge and stop trying to point out everybody's fault, very boring.

Psalm 51:17
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise

I came to understand the difference between understanding and wisdom as the difference between having a map and actually making the Journey; furthermore the map can't lead us to go on to perfection: that would be like saying you can go on to perfection leaning on your understanding. "Lean not on your understanding but trust in the Lord." "Let us go on to perfection, and this we will do if God permit." First we come and learn of Jesus humility, to be tamed by Him as a friend of God. Only by the leading of the Holy Spirit do we enter the wisdom of God; having agreed to the Will of God, to "Count it all Joy, Pray without ceasing, in everything give Thanks for this is the Will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." Notice in "This we will do if God permits," implies our will overtaken by the Holy Spirit, in the Will of God. "When you were young you would clothe yourself and do what you wanted, but when you will be old, you will stretch out your hands and Another will clothe you and carry you, where you don't want to Go, and this He spoke of what death Peter should die."
Notice: "Stretch out your hands," to yield ourselves to serve the Lord: having ceased from ourselves.
I had also pondered starting a post by the new title of my study, the word I woke up with at a retreat: Getting past myself to Journey in fellowship with God. I haven't yet partly because I understood that only the Holy Spirit can carry us there, "I can do nothing of Myself unless it is given to Me of My Father."
Agree 100℅ but see, your post just helped me, and i was leaning more to the fact that some may benefit through the thread as i just did through your post ( that would of went beautifully in the new thread that i haven't started yet😀)
Thanks

Why do you not accept that Jesus said of Judas that he was unclean, an unbeliever?

If God accepts all without condition, that means all are saved.
That is universalism.

If I give a gift to the whole world without condition, they all receive it.
Quite a simple idea really.
Yet they all have not recieved it,

One has to

1. Think they need it
2. Consider it useful
3. Consider it valuable
4. Consider it a gift worth taking

Otherwise, they will reject it.

So your logic is flawed here

Maybe there are actually more than two groups here.
I was approximating.
And some definitely deny they could ever walk like Jesus or even aspire to it.
A simple test is can you be 24hrs without sinning. Those that say no, do not
believe Jesus transforms them into His likeness in this world.

A few days ago such a point was discussed.:)
Nope, there are just two. Unless some athiests stopped by and i did not see them

Interesting. If I can reject a gift, then it is conditional on my acceptance.
In a sense we are given the gift of life, but we cannot reject it, because we would
be dead and not existing.
Anyone can say no, god does not force us to do anything, it is his character, it does not mean god did not pay the gift in full, he paid for it completely,

God did not pay for 80% of the gift and tell us to pay 20%

He paid 100%.

Lets have a simple answer - does God love those who burn in the lake of fire?
Yes

No. Because they have passed from life to death, and will never return.
He still loved them just because they went their own way does not mean god does not love them

While there is still opportunity to call for forgiveness and mercy, still His love is there.

If this was not so, eternal destruction would not be possible.
Why?

And I will add.....there is no contradiction in anything I have said.....Both Mailman and I have addressed this......open your eyes to the truth and get some honesty, lose the pride, the lies and admit your error..JUDAS was never saved and then lost it......
Ya forgot me man..lol
