Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple..............

............What Jesus says is working for money and serving God is not possible. Yes I am saying if you work for a paycheck and you say you serve God, you are disobeying what Jesus says. Jesus says...in Luke 12:22-34........

...........I believe Jesus makes it very clear on what we need to do as Christians, stop serving money (stop working for money, quit your job) stop worrying where your going to get your next meal, or where you are going to sleep, Jesus says the world worry’s about such things, you are not supposed to be a part of this world. Stop relying on money, using money is ok, but working for it is not. Stop putting your faith in a worldly system and preach the Gospel full time, listen to Jesus.

.......Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. ........

Do you see what Jesus is saying?
J.O.777, Jesus really said all these things and they are not figure of speech. Pastors in general have a hard time trying to explain away why Christians don't have to obey all the teachings Jesus gave to the Jews. The reason why we don't have to obey ALL of Jesus' teachings is simple: They were given to the Jews before the cross. After the resurrection Jesus continued teaching us through his spokesman, Paul of Tarsus. Did Paul ever say we have to give away all we have? No, never! So, relax and give ears to Paul because he had authority to speak on behalf of the Lord Jesus.

That's hogwash. Jesus never said anything of the sort.

"You can't serve both God and mammon" doesn't mean "don't work for money". It means "don't let money be your master, but only your servant".

It's amazing how someone can get Scripture so completely wrong and still think they're right.

Tell me... if we all followed your unbiblical idea, who would grow the food you eat? Who would operate the electrical generation stations? Who would build the technology you use to communicate this foolishness?

Talk about a self-defeating theory. "Jesus loves you, so go starve in the dark."

smh...
Dino to answer your question, who would feed you? Oh you of little faith, do the birds get fed by using money? Do the beasts store things to save for the winter? Or do they depend on there creator for everything that is needed? Matthew 6:33 Preach The Word and seek God first and everything shall be added unto you that is NEEDED. Including food, and clothes. Matthew 6:25.

make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: you should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.

may the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
establish the work of our hands for us —
yes, establish the work of our hands.

whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. it is the Lord Christ you are serving.

let the church not be burdened, so that it may care for those who are truly widows.

surely you remember, brothers and sisters, our toil and hardship;
we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you!

Oh you of little faith
“I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.”
So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?
“No,” they answered.
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.
When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
(John 21:3-6)

these disciples were employed as fishermen before Christ called them to walk with Him.
if Jesus truly taught that working is sinful,
why didn't Jesus rebuke His disciples for plying at their trade?
why didn't He tell them to throw away their nets and stop doing such a wicked thing?
why did He actually tell them to keep doing it - giving them instructions to help them succeed at it?
this wasn't even the first time:

go to the lake and throw out your line.
take the first fish you catch
(Matthew 17:27)

why did Jesus command Peter - a fisherman by vocation - to go and do what he did for a living?
was He tempting Peter to sin?

you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. on the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you. we did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.

yes, God will take care of you.
and He does not want you to be slothful nor to make yourself a burden to anyone.
He does not want you to worry, nor does He want you to make earthly wealth your idol.
it is not money that is evil, but the love of it.

i thank God i am able and have opportunity to work, and i do my job as though i work for Him - whatever it is - without complaint, and without grumbling, and as skillfully as i may. this is a blessing from Him, just as when He created Adam and set him in the garden to tend it, He blessed Adam by doing so. the servant who buried his master's gold, instead of investing it for him, was the wicked one.

Unless you are "living by faith" and have been doing so for years, you're only blowing smoke. Don't tell me how to interpret and apply Scripture if you aren't doing so. I'm doing what I have sensed the Lord calling me to do.

That is not true brother, the gospel was preached to everyone Gentile & Jew 13:46 and many other passages say also. Peter sold all 2:45. Also Acts 4:32-37. And so did the rest. Jew and gentile alike. Jesus Christ (Christ means=Messiah by the way) Here you go brother, saying things to discredit Jesus and his commands, Did you forget who has the ultimate authority in the Bible? What deos Paul say about his own teachings? Read Galatians 1:8, then let’s take a look at...

Revelations 19:11-13
And I saw heaven opened, and blehold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Jesus Christ has THE ULTIMATE AUTHORITY. Not Pual or anyone else, Paul practiced was Jesus taught period. The word of God is Jesus Christ, God in the Flesh who is the Courner Stone, Alpha & Omega, beginning and ending.

I am telling you there are people who are doing it and have been doing it for decades and never lacked anything, it’s my job to tell you what Jesus was saying and yours to obey. But other than that, I would advise you to read the New Testament again with what Jesus said. And see if it makes more sense. Don’t trust me, trust Jesus. I was simply explaining it in simpilar words.

Peace be apon you brother.

Yawn. Second-hand testimony on this subject is worthless.

it’s my job to tell you what Jesus was saying and yours to obey.
When did the Holy Spirit die and appoint you to fill His shoes?

Paul was Christ's spokesman; if you disregard Paul you are disregarding the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you offer sacrifices as Jesus commanded? Do you obey the scribes and the Pharisees as He commanded? Do you keep the whole Law as He commanded? Have you already given away all your property? Whose computer are you using?

I witnessed a Christian who did exactly what J.O.777 is suggesting: He gave away almost everything he had and quit his job as an airline pilot, but started living off his friends. To make a long story short he ended up working as a pilot for South America's greatest false prophet, Edir Macedo. He had to eat an enormous humble pie!
