There is a difference between starvation and being poor/hungry in US - like the other poster said - a strawman arument was setup on ed's ranch.

I think you need to qualify the above Ms. UnderGrad View attachment 196540
More related to the culture of the USA, people feel of the obligation of taking care of each other because of the welfare state which does more harm than good.
I am getting too dang angry at people here! I'm going to have to bow out of this convo.
But $T#^&*@ it!!! NOT before I force you to see what REAL starvation looks like!

I think you mean PostGrad... what did Trump do that Obama could have done, but didn't do to incentivize the economy?
Not following you here UG.
Mr L. What did people do in the 1950's when they arrived to this country no money and no welfare, did they live on the streets, no they helped each other out.
Extended families took people in until they were able to get on their feet and if something went wrong the extended family helped again.
How do you think people survived world wars and did not starve to death, the land owners gave food to those who had no land.
Soon as government becomes the source of support people abdicate what they should be doing.
The gentleman in your news article never once mentions family and friends....where were they????
Hillary didn't lose "fair and square" - Comey bringing up the email issue, the dump of her emails by the Ruskies and we know from the Mulder report that Scully said the Russians were active in various media to promote Trump and attack Hillary.
I wouldn't disagree with the above UGs - but that does not mean there should be no Gov assistance (I believe there was assistance in place) - and factors have changed also.

Yes the culture has changed, my parents had people living with them on and off for many years and they helped each other out.![]()

That sounds like our culture. We were dirt poor even in the 80s, yet we all helped each other with what we had and what we didn’t have.
I lived with the inlaws for a while when I came to Canada with $20 in me pocket - Immigration guy said "how are yer gonna support yerself?' - I said - "me wife's gonna work' - he laughed, stamped me passport and said "Welcome to Canada".
