I stayed in their facilities twice while living in Arkansas. I don't suppose that makes me a member, however.

i have worked with the salvation army. doctrinally they are close to methodists, but they hold their own meetings as well. their distinctive is however no Lord's supper or baptism atleast here. so you need to get those somewhere else.

other than those i believe its a wonderful group of people who are doing work for the kingdom of God and are servicing their fellowmen, they are very loving and warm people and easy to get along with. you should feel at peace there if you do decide to join. Lord please lead this woman to the way she should go, bless her journey bless her path bless her life, lift her up, lead her to the truth, use her to do your will and give her safety in these perilous times we are living in. amen.

I shopped in their store a few times. Got a good deal on a pair of jeans and a shirt. Got a hat too. Occasionally I will toss in some coins in their kettle during the Christmas season.

I bought a black women's coat one winter, because it was cold and it fit me. Then I gave it to this lady who was colder than I was. Right after that, somebody gave me a man's coat.

Theres loads out there but I am not member myself.
I know someone who joined after he went to rehab...some people need the disicpline of an army to get them to walk uprightly after going astray. It first started out as a mission for the poor in England. They had really bad poverty over there and the exisiting church wasnt doing much about it.

So General and Catherine Booth founded it to reach out to the poor. Thats why theres so much activity/charity things like rehab centres, budget advisors, clothing op shops, foodbanks, services to find lost children, foster homes, christmas appeals...the church of england at the time wasn't really doing anything to reach the poor and they weren showing much charity, mostly only rich people went and snubbed the poor. But the poor need salvation and to know Jesus too.

They dont have lords supper or baptism, because they were ministry first and not offical church but I think now you can go worship at the salvation army and maybe have that elsewhere. Its very organised so be sure you really want to commit to it people spend their whole lives in it and move up the ranks. They have things like uniforms and designated posts.
