As you highlighted, Romans 8 says that if a person doesn’t have the holy ghost, they are not God's. It does not say the reverse.

It does not say that if a person claims to be a Christian, or 'saved' they have the Holy Ghost.
The reverse is true according to scripture though. If you have the Holy Ghost you are saved. If you don’t have the Holy Spirit you are not saved! I’m not talking about what folks claim. I’m talking about what the Bible teaches. What the Bible actually says regardless of what folks profess.

Well since no one i promised to speak in tongues, how can that be proof? Is this why people say if you do not speak in tongues your not saved?

The only thing the bible says is his spirit works with your spirit to confirm you are children of God. And that if you have not received chastening, your probably not Gods

There are far to many warnings to the church and those in the church that say that people we think are saved may not be saved. Including warnings that after they walked away and become an anti christ they never were saved.

So how many people told these people they were saved and got it wrong?
If you receive not chastening there’s no probably to it, you are a bastard and not a son.

Proverbs 3:11-12 KJV
[11] My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord ; neither be weary of his correction: [12] For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Hebrews 12:5-8 KJV
[5] And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: [6] For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. [7] If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? [8] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Pay attention to verse 8!

Wrong word, friend. A "bastard" (classic meaning) is a child conceived outside of wedlock by a married person. The child is biologically related to one of the married parents, but not to the other, and traditionally had no rights of inheritance.

Someone who is not a Christian is not a "bastard"; rather, that person simply has no relationship with God.

But the signs that are used as metaphors in parables like shadows that follow someone has believed prophecy, they are already given and the Holy Spirit is not adding to that list of metaphors he set aside as holy in regard to the poor or bankrupt in spirit ….the riches of the gospel is preached. .
Garee, the above is an example of convoluted bafflegab. I'm sure it has meaning to you, but because it is so poorly constructed, it is not going to have much meaning to anyone else. Again, I encourage you to take a writing course, or at least to look at how sentences are constructed in the KJV... and try to emulate the simplicity of form you will find there.

Say what you want. What scripture do you have?

Deuteronomy 23:2 KJV
[2] A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord ; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord .

Hebrews 12:8 KJV
[8] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

John 1:12-13 KJV
[12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

It takes faith in the gospel of the grace of God to be a “son”. Otherwise you are still a bastard. Your father is the devil not the Lord God!!! That’s scripture. Please stop giving me “philosophy and vain deceit” (Colossians 2:8) and give me what this saith the Lord.

John 8:44-45 KJV
[44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. [45] And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

Romans 8:14,16 KJV
[14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. [16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Galatians 4:6 KJV
[6] And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Because we are sons God sent forth the Spirit of his Son (the Holy Ghost) into our hearts. We cry and long for him!

Scripture on scripture is how we grow in the Lord. It’s only by Gods words that we can know absolute truth!

Romans 10:17 KJV
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

And by the way we receive the Spirit by faith in the Son of God the moment we put our trust in him to save our souls from hell amd the lake of fire!!

Galatians 3:2 KJV
[2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Obviously we “received the Spirit by ... the hearing of faith” in the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Not by works! Not by works! Not by works! Not by works!

With all due respect my faith is in “the holy scriptures” and anything outside of that I simply can’t put my faith in nor use to prove my own points or agendas. Part of growing in the Lord is realizing our wrongs and admitting them and changing our beliefs. That’s why we get chastened. It’s nit pleasant but God is in it!!! Trust the scriptures above “science falsely so called” and “philosophy and vain deceit”

Hebrews 12:11 KJV
[11] Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

We must be “exercised thereby”. This is called “godly exercise”.

1 Timothy 4:8-9 KJV
[8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. [9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

Considering even James asked people to test their faith, knowing that some there were not saved, and Paul spoke of people coming in acting like christians.

I would say you can not know for sure.. Many people you think have him may not, and people you do not think have him may

Should we be the judge of a persons salvation (if they are saved or not) would be my question?

Remember also. While I am thinking, Jesus said on the last day many people will speak of how they cast out demons and did all these mighty works you would think could only come from the Holy Spirit. Yet jesus said he NEVER KNEW THEM, proving they were never spirit filled.
Thats the point im making how do we know who is saved or not? Revolving ourselves around the doctrine of being saved is just futile. It doesnt serve any purpose to anyone in these threads. Whats the significance of whether or not a person is saved? Zero purpose. No one knows who is saved or not regardless of what doctrine denomination or otherwise.

We stand on our faith that Jesus will call us His children on the day we kneel before the Lord and be judged. Were all going to see that day. Im not anyones judge as to who is saved or not and neither is anyone else on here. We can only know them by their fruits those who call themselves children of God. Dont let people decieve you. Test their spirit if what they say and do line up with the word of God. Do they take correction or do they carry pride. Its easy to test what a person is made of, and not just take what they claim to be. Faith holds strong under any test. Faith is proven and can be measured. I will leave with this scripture. God bless.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

That's where we differ, as I put my faith in the person and finished work of Jesus Christ.

I encourage you to get to know Him. The Scriptures talk about Him...

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Psalm 138:2 KJV
[2] I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Magnify the word of God ABOVE all his name!!! Without the words of God we wouldn’t know about the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, which is in whom and his work that I most certainly put my trust. I know him because I trust what is WRITTEN of him! That’s the way we increase our faith.

John 1:1-4 KJV
[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

The word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ are inseparable! They are one and the same. The words of that book are living words!

Please don’t twist my words. I never said I haven’t trusted the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ in the cross and him rising again from the dead! He is alive today and he manifests himself through his words!

Yeshua DID NOT come to bring Peace, but to bring Division!!

If you know the Truth and are speaking to someone who only knows half truths, don't apologize. Some of these people desperately need to see, read, hear the TRUTH!!

You got that right. The Word who was with God and is God became flesh. The Word is Jesus Christ. The Living Word manifest in the form of Jesus. Thats the mystery Paul talked about. Jesus was from the beginning. And everything was made through Him. God created everything through His Word. When His Word was manifest as flesh we were able to Hear Him and See Him. And now if we receieve Him we can have eternal life in Him. His Words are life because they are the Word of God. If the Word is in you Christ is in you.

Hey I know Kelby asked how do we know if someone has the Holy Spirit and I really like that question. Because Ive had people ask me the same thing. They ask how do you know if you recieved it?

I asked them if they were prayed over and had hands laid on them? But I realize not all churches do that. So I asked if they feel gulity over doing things that are sinful. Do they feel things that they used to do, not go with their spirit. Do they have peace in times of trouble?

From my observation it seems like the person that draws closer to God and opens their heart to be right with God receives the gift. The gift isnt impossible to receive. All it takes is the repentant heart. Open to God. Sincere and seeking Him. You can pray in church and not even go to the altar and have the Holy Spirit fill you where you stand. Ive heard different testimonies.

Its the persons heart that matters. God knows the heart. The Holy Spirit is the gift for all who will believe. And like youve said we believe the Word of God. All of it. Not just the name of Jesus but all of the Word of God. And we turn to God. We incline ourselves to Him and He does the rest. In due time the Holy Spirit fills that person. And you know someone has it by their fruits.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control.
