[QUOTE="PS, post: 3913351, member: 150078..."All they had was hope in the Lord Jesus Christ...(partial quote)
[/QUOTE]

I hardly think that is the case. Paul commended their work of FAITH and labour of LOVE. Plus, you have Romans 5

Romans 5: 5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now before DC says "See, you have to have experience to bear fruit". the passage says no such thing.

Love is a fruit of the Spirit, and EVERYONE who has passed from death unto life (regeneration) has that fruit. (1 John 3:14)

Oh and just because your love is not perfect or completely matured, doesn't mean you don't have the fruit of love in your heart.

I am trying to save time by answering objections before they arise. :)

Hope wasn't all they had. They also had faith and love, which produced works of faith and labour of love.

The fruit of the Spirit is manifested by what we do. Being filled and led by the Spirit means HE is working in us and through us. Without Christ, we can do NOTHING.

I attribute nothing good to man. I attribute EVERY good thing to God. In our flesh, THERE DWELLS NO GOOD THING. All of our good is either imputed, imparted or both FROM HIM. ALL OF IT.

Just continue to be taught by the Word, and be open to changing your views according to what you read.
To whom or what do you attribute your faith?

The evolution of DC's argument

Post 84,217- <----a period of growth and maturity is required before one bears anything

Required means necessary or compulsory

post 97,492- DO you see the word ALL in the above quote.....(trying to deny that he applied it to all or everybody.)

Actually, yes I do...when you use the word REQUIRED.

Post 98,466- -FRUIT does NOT bear instantly...juts like LOVE it must be matured and BROUGHT to completion.

When is our fruit brought to completion? When we die or at the harvest of the last day. So no one bears fruit unless they are dead or until Jesus returns.

Faith is a gift of God. Ask DC. He'll tell you that's what he believes too. You don't have to be a Calvinist to believe that. All orthodox Christians believe this. (see Ephesians 2:8-9)

It's not my fault this thread got repetitive. I have to keep repeating the same truths

Yes, faith is a gift of God, and the fruit of God's gift is love, joy and peace in the heart of the believer.

So what is our role in this?

Receiving and walking in these so that others can receive the gift too.

The tree produces fruit. The fruit has the seed of reproduction in itself. Genesis 1:11

I have heard it all now....fruit produces works.......hilarious......
NO....FAITH produces WORKS........
One could put these concepts on the level of cause and effect.
God is the ultimate cause. His gifts to us, is all we have.
The results of these gifts are the things we do, and are.

So saying fruit produces works, is true, but is no different than saying
faith produces works. One could say it is actually more profound.

So the gift of peace produces works of peace.
The gift of love produces works of love.
The gift of joy produces works of joy.

So what is there to mock here, or find hilarious?
The problem with simple denial, the gospel is not ...... is denial is just rejection.
When you begin to define what the gospel is, and who God is, then the language
begins to show truly what the gospel is, and all the denials evaporate.

God bless you

A work of joy
29 Welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor men like him,
30 because he almost died for the work of Christ, risking his life to make up for the help you could not give me
Phil 2

A work of love
22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call
on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Tim

The fruit is not brought unto completion UNTIL THE HARVEST or until you die. :)

Philippians 3:12

We will be growing, maturing, and our fruit will be growing and maturing until the day we die or until Jesus comes back. At least that is the biblical model ;)

Bible 101
These people hate fruit, because it means there is a dependency on our walk.
But then staying alive means not drinking poison.

Equally staying in Christ means walking in His will, walking in love and not
continuing in sin. One or other will win through. Sin poisons our hearts and
souls, and destroys all we hold dear. Just look at the effects of adultery on a
family, and you will understand this.

it is 100% your fault. you have spoke about bearing fruit over 30 times just in the last day.

this was not a big discussion until you blew up about about what doc said, and have been blowing up about it for months, even after have been proven wrong in your instant fruit belief many, many times.

so, as I have did, love your neighbor , and honor other's requests, and stop yelling about fruit.
we get your point, we see what you are saying. we just do not agree.

and yesterday, I replied to posts that slandered me on Monday and Tuesday. And people could'nt let it go.

I'm almost done, Rosemary.

DC and Under Grace brought up fruit inspection when I wasn't even talking about fruit. See page 4892

I wasn't even talking about fruit, and DC and Under grace brought it up.

In post 97,948, you brought up fruit inspection when I wasn't even talking about fruit.

You do not agree about what?

About what is fruit and what is works?
About when the fruit of something shows itself?

Imagine this. A believer without the Holy Spirit. Then they are not a believer.
So immediately someone comes to faith, is saved, they have the fruit of the Spirit.

But how would this not show, if it is a real experience?

WE had been talking about perserverance for several pages and I had not mentioned fruit for several pages, THEN YOU brought it up again. SO it is not 100 percent my fault. A lot of it is on YOU and your friend.

From 97,329 to 97,403, we had been discussing perserverance. That means 74 posts were on the topic of perserverance until YOU brought up fruit again. And this is just one example.

OK, Rosemary. Now I'm done. No more talk about fruit. But hopefully they won't bring it up again.

producing fruit many times. )
