If I understand what you are asking:
Emotions are the appreciators of life. They follow, they do not lead. They respond they do not initiate. What you think is what you are and what you should think is what the scripture teaches us.

Do you mean emotional? Jesus wept and it seems to me that was out of an act of emotion. It is good that God is number one for you and that is true for a lot of us here. Glad to have you as part of our community. Welcome to CC.

Are you referring to the music genre?
If so then I wouldn't say it's wrong, but there is a Lot of negativity in it. Which, if you aren't able to deal with, or be able to counteract it, could be detrimental in the long run.
If you just enjoy the music and look and are unaffected by the negativity then it's fine.
If you mean something other than the musical genre you'll need to clarify your question. Mostly people are guessing here, as to what you actually mean.

emo is people who are emotinal ware alot of black and the music genra
I think it's a mistake to identify yourself too closely with any cultural group, and let that define who you are.

Learn to be yourself.

God made you UNIQUE.

Don't ruin that by trying to be just like some group.

And on top of that general advice, emos don't really have a very good reputation for being wise or reasonable.

Emos are generally considered COMPLETELY SELF-ABSORBED... that's why they're emotional.
They make too big a deal of every little thing in their own life, like they're the center of the universe.

I don't think God wants us to be so self-centered and self-absorbed.

A good cure for emo would be a mission trip to a 3rd world country.
That might fix it.

It would be so funny if someone misread the OP and said, "I think it's a sin to hang out with giant weird birds that can't even fly, and then try to be one of them."

But seriously, my posts above weren't meant to offend or discourage the OP.
But I would like to encourage her to think for herself, and learn to be her own unique self.
I don't think identifying with "emo's" or other cultural groups is a sin, but it's probably imprudent.
It may not be a sin, but it may just be a dumb thing that slows down our christian growth, instead of speeding it up.

We all do things that are dumb.
We do things that aren't horrible sins, but they're just kind of dumb... maybe they waste our time, or distract us.
Well, we're supposed to be on a path of spiritual growth, where we continually learn and grow.
Part of that continual growth is learning to drop some of those dumb things that slow us down.

So I'm not trying to pick on the OP.
She asked a perfectly fine question.
And the issue is really a lot bigger than being an emo, it's about examining all the things we do that are NOT a terrible sin, but which just slow down our christian walk, and distract us, and waste our time.
This is an issue we all deal with... dropping things that slow us down, and waste our time and energy.

Dealing with this issue is part of everyone's spiritual growth... we all deal with this issue daily.

Actually, I have never heard of the term 'emo' before reading the OP and do agree that she asked a perfectly fine question. Encouraging her to think for herself and learn to be her own unique self is sound spiritual counsel. I believe that the same can be said for identifying yourself with a religious denomination although I would not recommend avoiding attending church as it says in the bible to not forsake the assembling together with others but caution should be exercised so as to not lose sight of your true spiritual identity. I guess that is where discernment from the Holy Spirit comes into focus. Your counsel is right on target in this topic per usual.

You’re absolutely right.

People should go visit some third world country, or enlist. That’d cure most of them.

Emo, also called emocore, subgenre of punk rock music that arose in Washington, D.C., in the mid-1980s. Guy Picciotto (who was later a founding member of the influential hard-core group Fugazi) and his band, Rites of Spring, launched the subgenre when they moved away from a punk scene that sometimes favoured attitude over substance, and they put the focus of the music and lyrics on personal pain and suffering. This confessional approach to singing punk music was dubbed emocore, or hard-core emotional, by fans in the 1980s. The lyrics in emo songs dealt primarily with tales of loss or failed romance, and they were often characterized by self-pity. The stories in emo music strongly resonated with teenage fans.

An Emo getting a bit Emo?
Say it ain't so.

You came here, of your own will, and asked people for their opinions on this topic.
I didn't go looking for you and just randomly start picking on you about your social group.

You came here, to us, by your own free will, and asked people for their opinions.

You are now getting opinions.

It is unreasonable to ask complete strangers for their opinions, and then when some of their opinions don't like up with your own, start throwing attitude like THEY did something wrong. THEY are merely doing exactly what YOU ASKED FOR.

Don't ask us for a thing, and then get upset when we give you the thing.

Emo Example?

Alright, let's just deal with the elephant in the room... this whole conversation may, in itself, be a fair example of the "stereotypical" emo mentality.
Emos are stereotypically known to be self-absorbed, overly sensitive, and unable to handle criticism.
Problems with criticism... that's starting to ring a bell.
Where did I see that recently... hmmm.

Look, I see no problem with liking a particular fashion style, or musical taste, or art, or poetry, or whatever relatively benign things emos may be into.
That's fine.
It's all fine.
But if you want to join a group so you can be surrounded by people who are overly emotional, lack self control, and spend all their time engaged in the purely self-centered activity of discussing how "mean the rest of the world is"... that seems like an unwise choice.
That seems counter productive and unbiblical.

* The bible actually tells us NOT to get overly emotional about every little thing, but rather to exercise self control.
* The bible also tells us to choose our friends wisely, and that we become like the people we hang around.

There are genuine REASONS for us to be concerned about you, and about your social group.

If your emo friends are just boring suburban kids with too much eyeliner... that's fine.
But if they're unstable (which is where the emo culture has its roots) then we have reason to be concerned.

Not all bad news

Alright, now let's look at the positive side of things.

Maybe your emo group isn't really very "emo", and they're all perfectly stable emotionally.
That's great.
Or maybe I'm just wrong about everything.
That's even better.
But on the other hand, you wouldn't be here for just no reason... if you didn't have concerns, you wouldn't be here.

That means you're concerned, and you're really giving your life some serious introspective thought.

And THAT means you've got some real depth, and you have some really great qualities.
That's fantastic.

And ya know, if people are all here discussing this stuff with you, it means a lot of people are interested in your well being, and genuinely want you to be well and do well... that can't be all bad either.

Final Thoughts:

1. I think it's fantastic that you're going on a mission trip. I mean that sincerely. You have all my support and respect for that.

2. I don't dislike you, and I don't think ill of you just because you might just possibly be doing some "dumb teenager things"... we all did dumb teenager things.

3. If the worst thing you're doing is hanging out with some overly emotional and self-absorbed teens... then that's probably a lot better than most of us did in our teen years.

4. No one here dislikes you. No one here thinks you're stupid, or thinks you're a bad person. But it's still possible you're making some mistakes which the older crowd can see more clearly than you can. It is entirely possible that people who are older and wiser, are in fact, ACTUALLY OLDER AND WISER.
:)

5. And we didn't get older and wiser by being perfect... we got older and wiser by making LOTS OF MISTAKES.
:)

6. IF you are in fact making mistakes, then we'd like to see you avoid those mistakes. That's all.

That's the bottom line.
