you can make insults all you like you said " There are Spiritual gifts that are not tongues, prophesy and knowledge" yes there gifts other than those of the prophetic gifts and we are told in scripture to desire them. I see where you name all others and speak to them foolishly. You are just immature. there has been more Biblical application taught to you in the last two days then you have applied in this whole thread.
Wow. You accuse others of insults and then do the same.

Go ahead and scold me to.

Oh come on I have cited 1 Cor 13:8-13 more than times than I can count.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
and yes you have done so out of context. you cherry pick six verses to support your false narrative. 1corithians chapters 12 to 14 are unit chapters, you lack the ability to see that. That is why you have poor exegesis.

1cor 13:8-13 says

8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. 12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

You assume that which is perfect is the Bible in its completed form. The word of God has always been perfect. That is your error.
Also nothing in 1cor 13:8-13 states the words " Have, had, or did" in context too:

prophecies, tongues, and knowledge as passing away or ceasing. The language is "will". That is not a past tense grammatical meaning. "WILL" is future tense. 1cor 13:8-13 is about love which is the main context that is said, Love

verses 1, 2,3,4,7,8, and the last 13.

Your error in your understanding of 1cor 13.

God has revealed the hopelessness of your situation.

have just posted it for you as I have many times but you are ill-informed. your context of 1cor 13:8-13 is unbiblical and errored unless you think the word of God was not always perfect?

Got it,
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. (Act 2:38-39 KJV)

But people will say we are all filled with the Holy Ghost at salvation, I thought there was something about the gifts being for all generations. Anyway, after hearing many messages in tongues and their interpretation, I am secure in my faith and I am happy with what God has given me.

spoonjuly please don't speak to me. You have short term memory loss. You have each time provided insults first, I have just responded in like kind. That is because I assumed incorrectly you would get the hint from me as a mod to stop being rude. You have an issue with me, pm me or just leave. I have not insulted anyone I have responded to what was an attack on those who are not like-minded. You know that and so do I . move and have a nice day.

As you could know the word of God was not perfect until the NT was given by inspiration of God. The apostles had only the OT from which to preach Christ.

Yours is of course the unbiblical position.

Do you have assurance of salvation apart from your prayer tongues? Do you really trust the word of God?

Don't let your hatred of me carry you away.

I will honor your request, but must say this first.
You accuse others of doing exactly what you do but can not see it.

what a lie from the pit of hell.
FYI
It is and has been taught and believed since the founding of Christian faith, that the Word of God both Old and NEW is the Inspired WORD OF GOD the term known as Verbal plenary inspiration. This is the worst comment I have ever heard.

Unbiblical to speak against the Full word of God. Finally, I will challenge those here and ask how many of you hold to this error in doctrine? I can accept your unwillingness to see the gifts of the Holy Spirit. BUT if you hold that only the New Testament is the word of God you need to go.
The Lord Jesus quoted the Old Testament when in the wilderness tempted of the devil. Jesus said a man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

FYI notuptome I have said it before and I will say it now tongues does not save you, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and HIM alone.
Not only do I trust the word of God I trust all the word of God. Fully and completely

only a false teacher would have that kind of assertion about the word of God. anyone who thinks that the word of God was not perfect before the NEW Testament should not teach the word of God.

Then you have no need of the bible. The gifts are to all generations just three ended because they were only for a special purpose and limited time.

You interpretation of Acts 2:38-39 contradicts 1 Cor 13:8-11 so it cannot be correct.

Despite your overly caustic and intentional misrepresentation of what I have said you cannot argue that the bible was not complete when the Holy Spirit penned 1 Cor 13 through Paul. Now get off your high horse and repent.

If you believed the bible you would not go around professing to pray in tongues. You also would show forth some grace in your conduct.

No contradiction at all. The gifts are to all generations (Acts 2) but when what is perfect comes, then what is partial will disappear. (1Co 13:10)

"will disappear" is future tense. The question is, "what is perfect when it comes?"

The answer is: "perfect is when we are in the eternal presence of the Perfect One, when we are with the Lord forever either through the return of Christ or graduation to the eternal." (David Guzik quoting most commentators.)

Perfect is used two way . I think it was always perfect in so much that as a law it does have the power to convert the soul giving us simply ones his understanding. They perfectly rejoice our hearts as a witness he does hear us therefore enlightening the eyes of our new hearts. (Psalms 19 )

In that way it is perfect and guarded with a warning to not add other meanings to the word .(singular) For it can change the intent of the author making his understanding without effect. . Deuteronomy 4:2.

But when he finished brining new prophecy with John after any manner to indcldues tongues having sealed up the possibility with 7 seals till the end of time. We now have the perfect, perfect, perfect ,,,Holy, Holy, Holy ,,book of Prophecy. Complete as in not missing any laws by which we could know him more adequately . And perfect as in seals and guarded with a flaming sword against any one who would violate the last warning and the receive the strong delusion until ready to love the truth .

first off I would never say that the word of God was only Inspired in the New Testament. And you can dance all you want. You know and more importantly, those here see what you said. This is not about tongues anymore that is you and I. It is your unbiblical comment about the word of God. FYI the Holy Spirit was very much a part of what was said from Genesis to Mal. I will not respent LOL you arrogant false teacher. YOu need to go.

No not even close to biblically correct. If that were the case why mention it at all? There is no reason to suggest that the perfect is when we are in the presence of Christ.

With all due respect to Adam Clarke he is wrong. The only thing that fits the context is the completed revelation of Gods word.

don't change the topic and make this about anything other than, you believe that the whole word of God is not Inspired. You said that not me.
