Does the Bible not say, we are not to make any image of God?

Why do people wear cross ornaments? Does it protect the wearer from evil?

Why does the pictures of Jesus always have blonde hair and blue eyes? Can someone point me to the scripture that gives this description of Jesus?
1) yes do not make any graven image
2) i dont know, ask them, I dont wear myself. Not as far as I know although you will read in vampire stories they keep vampires away or is it garlic?
3) no idea, Ive seen pictures of brown haired and brown eyed Jesus, I dont think ever seen a blue eyes and blonde haired Jesus. Can you show an example. There is a description of his hair (white) and eyes(like flames of fire) in revelation 1:14

White isnt the same as blonde though and flames of fire, though some flames are blue, they could be orange or golden colour.

Hi

First thing I thought of was the commandment ( 2 Corinthians 5:16) that as new creatures we are to know no man after the flesh (what the eyes see, hands feels or ears hear. He gives us new ears so that we might understand him not seen

2 Corinthians 5:16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

Some did know Jesus as the Son of man after what the eyes see the temporal but when he left he left a commandment... we are to know him after the flesh never again .

The law of equality among the nations the one Martin Luther King amongst others fought for . Jesus died fighting .His own led the way of haters .

The peace of God that surpasses our wrestling against flesh and blood, fallen nature helps us understand God is not a man as us.

I would offer if they are using them in that manner then they should not be wearing them .

Rachel in the old testament was found with what are called teraphim family idols used to commune with dead familiar people . ( necromancy) Catholicism has 3500 and rising available as idol images called patron saints needed to put a face on the legion many (gods) seeing when one is required the whole army comes multiple faces. They are available on line. patronsaintmedalion.com

They can be used as reminders but to commune with the unseen ,no way. then we would be making gods in the likeness of men as shown in Acts 14.

I think scripture describes Jesus as a ruddy man like David and not like the peoples choice Saul. But rather the one they hid in the field who smelled like sheep and kept spouting off his mouth writing songs to sing. They thought he would scare away Samael the judge as it seems it was God's choice as a Sheppard . Giving his life in jeopardy of his own spirt life for the sheep. He had no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

Isaiah 53:2-6 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Many people would have a picture of Jesus, because they love Him, and would not think of worshipping the picture.

But if they have a picture they are still giving admiration to Jesus by a picture, which seems like it would be idolatry, for they sure do not have the picture up on their wall for decoration only like another picture.

Could they have a picture of their child on the wall, and it mean the same thing as a picture of Jesus, for it would not for they could not look at it as love alone, and in the same light, for they are admiring Jesus by the picture, as Lord and Savior, much like a person admires a false god by an idol.

And they do not know what Jesus looks like, so it is not Jesus anyway, and they should not have a picture of Jesus if it is not Jesus.

Not only that, but contrary to what some people believe Jesus had short hair, which the Bible says a man should have short hair for he is in the image of God, and Jesus came in the image of God, and nature teaches that it is a shame for a man to have long hair, and God is the one that created everything, and the rules of nature.

Some people may say, but Samson had long hair, but Samson was not in the image of God, and God said let his hair grow long, as if it was not tradition for their hair to be long unless a Nazarite dedicated to God.

Although some people would look at it as a picture is alright, but not a statue, if they do not worship the picture, but is is the same thing, for whether a picture, or a statue, it is still an image of Jesus.

Yeshua rak benYahweh, Jesus the only sone of Who Is, is our goal in existing in His Presence. To ignoreWo He is and Who He was in the flish is, grankly, ignoring the Word for He is described in His Word. Traditions of man can be very hurtful l when given too much imprtance.
You are right about that. Traditions can be blessed or become idols. This world can be pretty crazy, and it takes a lot of discipline and humility to stay ahead of the bad ones. One pastor said once, "demons are lazy (and cowards) and would prefer people to just damn themselves and save them the effort."

The shepherd who went after one lost sheep is a depiction of Christ, who is God. So is the merchant who sold everything to obtain the pearl of great price.
Yes, in the parables there was someone there that depicted Jesus, but "Jesus" was not a character in the stories. (I wish I could state that in a less confusing way. But hopefully you guys see what I'm saying.)

Hi Kim,
The second commandment (Exodus 20:4) says, "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above..."
Therefore it is a bad idea to make an image of God, whether in 2D or 3D, to worship it.

People wear cross ornaments for many reasons, most likely that they are expressing their faith in Jesus by wearing jewellery representing Him. No, wearing a cross does not protect its wearer from evil at all. Better that a believer puts on the armour of God as described in Ephesians 6.

Not all pictures of Jesus show Him with blonde hair and blue eyes... some show Him as a dark-skinned and dark-haired man with dark eyes. We humans tend to create God in our own image; that extends to images of Jesus as well. There are no Scriptures describing the details of his colouring. Rather, "His appearance was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men" and "He had no stately form of majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him" (Isaiah 52:14 and 53:2).
He was Jewish of David’s lineage

What about the prodigal son? Jesus or God the Father was the father, and we are the prodigal son.

The early painters were all European, and that is why we have those imaginary depictions. They had probably never seen Palestinian Jews. Nothing to get too concerned about.
This is true. For anyone who has seen Michelangelo's David, it is a quite unflattering statue of king David. I'm sure the real king David would be most upset if he were to see it. :)
