....scripture is clear where God sees the beginning of marriage
That included a rapist was to marry (take as his wife) his victim, also. Do you hold to that, as well?

Jesus was among sinners all the time and criticized for it. We need to stop being self righteous and start loving and leading people to Jesus
Your post is very luvvy-duvvy and very naïve - and misses the point of the opening OP and following responses to this -
Our nephew, who is one of the most respectful and responsible people I know, is marrying his boyfriend.
Do we go out of respect for him, or stay away because of the gay issue?
People are not condemning the nephew for being homosexual - we all accept that homosexuals in the natural world can be good
citizens and good neighbours or good members of our families.
That is not so much the issue.
What @RickyZ was asking from us is whether or not he should attend a same-sex "wedding" ??
The issues have raged about:
1. there ain't no such thing as a same-sex wedding or marriage - a civil union perhaps but definitely not marriage as this is God given
and is sacred - a man shall leave his parents and marry his wife and the two shall become one flesh.
2. Christians ought not to partake of and endorse what is obvious to some that any same-sex copy of marriage is a profanity before
God and a mockery of all religious marriage where men and women are joined together in matrimony.

Some on CC keep insisting that if you call out sin and make a stand for the gospel then you are full of hate, closed minded and a bigot.
This appeasement is unscriptural and so wishy-washy that it is most likely that Jesus will spew such out from his mouth.

Kindness is a fruit of the Spirit, and God desires us to love it, and be merciful to others, and walk humbly with Him. That does not deny the need to recognize sin and call out sin. Start with yourself. Saying people are not condemning (disapproving of, and judging with the intent to shame) the nephew is a full on lie.

I wonder how many sinners they’ll reach by their fire and brimstone speeches.
What fire and brimstone speeches?? Please quote a speech of mine as evidence.
I preach Jesus Christ and how he offers salvation unto eternal life.
I share testimonies to the miraculous and the power of God to transform a person's life.
I preach from the scriptures how a repentant person can have a personal relationship with both Jesus and our Father through
the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Just because some of us a zealous for the Lord does not make us evil.
Satan accuses the saints before God. And so do you.

15 I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot!
16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
17 For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked.
18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.
19 Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require
of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

Romans 2:4 Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience,
not realizing that God's kindness leads you to repentance?

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 6:9 So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.

1 Corinthians 13:4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.
Ephesians 4:31-32 All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.

Colossians 3:12 So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;

Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.

Proverbs 16:23-24 From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. Kind words are like honey–sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Titus 3:4-6 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.

Ephesians 2:7-8 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.

Psalm 117:2 For His lovingkindness is great toward us, And the truth of the LORD is everlasting. Praise the LORD!

Amen! I praise the LORD for His loving kindness, and for the kindness others have shown me.

So are you @Magenta claiming that Christians who preach the gospel and refrain from participating in non-Christian
events and places are not showing kindness? That such have no love and are full of hate?

“...Satan accuses the saints before God. And so do you.”

Interesting choice of words.

You just uttered a rather self righteous line right there. You’re the saint and I’m with satan.

Why did you do that?

Is that how you see yourself?

A saint?

Is that how you see others?

Satanic worshippers?

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies.
Romans 8:33
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:7
Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
1Corinthians 1:2
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

NO not at all.
We Pentecostals just preach the gospel to anybody who will listen and lead them to Christ and the truth.
When they get baptized in the Holy Spirit and can pray in tongues then God cleanses them and sets them free and makes
them whole.
I'm not going to infer that such conversions don't happen. I heard enough testimonies to know that they do. However they are extremely rare and most churches here don't teach or practice such things. Addiction occurs after a total breakdown of willpower and the 'lizard brain' and addiction takes over like a demon. The 2 biggest struggles are getting people to admit that alone they have already lost the battle, step 1. Admitting that God is real, step 2 and setting aside self will and thereby surrendering to Gods will. Thats step 3. That's the beginning.

It's extremely difficult for people who have never any 'real faith', before to even get that far. It often takes years. Only then, with God's help, the real work can begin like. Admitting to the lies we have been telling ourselves for years. Stop blaming others for our mistakes and on we go...

Addiction is a mental illness which combines with other mental and emotional illnesses and renders their victims powerless and sends our lives spiraling out of control. So aside from a sudden miracle which is very rare and I think requires some level of faith from the start. This as I described is the most successful recover plan so far on the planet today.

That's why I and tens of thousands advocate it. I brings us to our knees first, to God second and introduces us to ourselves. The rest only requires following instructions, and being totally honest and willing to follow the plan that was scripturally based from the beginning. I'll let you go now. May the Lord be our counselor and refuge.

If they haven't been given the gift of speaking in tongues does that mean that they are not baptized in the Holy Spirit? I believe that the cleansing process of God is life-long in nature and only in our heavenly life will we be made truly whole.

Nothing really luvvy-duvvy at all about JesusLives response. Jesus was indeed among sinners during His earthly ministry. We should all stop being self-righteous, more loving and leading people to Jesus.

Doesn't God tell us to judge righteously? We shouldn't be a witness to sin, and not say a word about it to the person committing the sin. Jesus wasn't always all sugar and sweetness, He got angry from time to time. Trouble is, HE was perfect. WE are not.

I would NEVER attend a gay wedding, or any other such atrocity. And if I did, there's no way in hell that I would keep quiet and just be a witness to it. There are other ways to love and support the person, other than attending a sham marriage.

Can you stop being so ridiculous? No, probably not. I share the gospel through my testimony and elucidating the Word of God. I refrain from some non-Christian events also. Get real. The western world is largely secular and increasingly growing rabidly left wing. You yourself falsely accused me of being a liberal because I hold to Scriptures that specifically tell us we have no business judging those outside the church, that we are to be kind, and walk humbly with God. I wish to support Ricky in showing loving kindness to his nephew, so that his nephew knows he can turn to Ricky for answers, knowing him to be a reasonable man and loving uncle. Somehow that offends you! You ask outrageous questions, after all the Scriptures I have posted.

You are not being honest at all.
The thread is about attending a homosexual ceremony which some are happy to also call a gay wedding.
Those of us who call for discernment are not attacking RickZ's relationship to his nephew.
Some of us are challenging the concept that a gay wedding can be a wedding or marriage at all and that a Christian ought not to
participate in honouring such a profanity.
I'm sure that RickyZ's nephew is a good citizen and all that but that is not the core issue of this thread.

What is marriage? Can homosexuals marry? Why can't gays call their ceremony a union between a same-sex couple?
Why does the rainbow warrior movement insist on imitating marriage knowing the cultural and spiritual significance of marriage
to ALL people of religion; not just Christians but also Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc etc etc.

This is the issue that some just keep skipping over and not addressing.

Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
1Corinthians 1:13
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Titus 2:
I do not need to go nightclubbing to preach to the lost.
I do not need to shoot up drugs with addicts to share my testimony with them.
I do not need to attend a profane same-sex ceremony that is deliberately construed to offend the God of the Bible.
I can witness to any homosexual person (whether I knew them to be or not) in the street or in a home.
And I witness to people and preach the gospel out of love and a duty to my Lord and Master, not because I am a self-righteous
closed minded bigot.
