What is a fake Christian

Yes not me but someone I know for many years everyday the call prayer lines too

Someone, who you know, claims to be a Christian, and calls prayer lines frequently? That doesn't make them fake. It might suggest they are immature, but that's all. I suspect there is more to the story.

Looks genuine on the outside but is hollow on the insie. IOW a tare...one who is not born again.


Anyone born again is a genuine Christian even though they look like a '58 Edsel on the outside. lol

Rather than monitoring others, why don't you just focus on yourself and your growth as a Christian?

Leave others to God since you do not know anyone's heart. That is God's prerogative.

Hopefully so... But I was thinking 'genuine', which only comes through the new birth (inside) irregardless of how we may have messed things up consequentially (outside).

Hey guys this is a question I've recently started to ask myself

NIV1984 Titus 1:16
They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

Its better to be honest and say you dont believe then to pretend.

A lot of missionaries kids are like that. They might have grown up in christian schools, might have put their hand up to say I accept Jesus into my heart. But if they didnt make any move to repent and make a commitment get water baptised, they havent really been converted.

Also they might believe they are a good person, but ive met a lot of people like that who are snobby about that and think they are just better than anyone else.

Believing means...you believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that he died on the cross for our sins and was raised to life on the third day...so we can have eternal life.

Whats missing from the fake christians life is the Holy spirit. One absolutely has to have the holy spirit. If or when they make that leap of faith, they will receive the gift of salvation...which is the holy spirit. And they will bear the fruits of the spirit.

I dont doubt that many receive the word, but the state of their hearts means it just isnt prepared to let it grow. It is with our hearts we believe...

I agree... Jesus addressed this in the parable of the soils. Many receive the word with joy, but it dies when the troubles come, or gets choked out with the concerns of this world.

I'm reminded of another perspective, which is well summarized by a pithy saying: "What you win them with, is what you win them to." That is to say, if you win a person to Christ with just "Accept Jesus into your heart", then you haven't won them to repentance from sin and dead works, taking up their cross daily, and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit... and they might never get there, thinking that "I accepted Jesus" is all that was ever necessary.
