Water baptism was important, not anymore but if it removes loose dirt then it is important.

Its significance was as defined in the prophesies of preparing the Lords way, making His path straight and how we are told by John himself; it was meant to identify the Messiah (John 1).

After John, there's no need to continue with this practice because the Messiah is not being identified all over again and the hearts of the people are not being readied for the coming Messiah again.
John also used it as a method to bring people to him so that he can pass the message "after me comes...".
We are 2000 years into "after me ..." era, so need for water baptism.

I don't recall the Criminal on the cross that defended Jesus being Baptized in water.

Where are they hiding?
Don't worry about you baptism Victor. If and when it becomes available the Holy Spirit will guide you to the right people. If you have the HS indwelling in you, that is the baptism of confirmation. You are saved, brother. :)(y)

If you feel that you should get water baptized because you think Jesus commanded it, even though it was clear to me that Jesus was only commanding the Jews since Gentiles was not included in the salvation plan during the Gospels, feel free to do so.

The only problem I see in having that thinking is that, quite a number of old church folks on their death beds, when you ask them what makes them confident about being saved, quite a number will reply to you, "Because I have been water baptized!"

That is kinda scary if you ask me.
Part 1 of your statement implies you believe in the Two Gospel Theory. I soundly reject that false teaching.

Part 2 of your statement is exactly what I am saying on this Thread. Water baptism IS NOT unto salvation. Being water baptized will not give someone eternal life. ONLY the precious blood of Christ, through the baptism of the Holy Spirit will do that.

Nobody even professes to be a Christian here, haven't met someone like that yet. Maybe tourists, but that's rare.
???

I surely profess to be a blood bought, born again child of the King and an heir to the Promise! Through the precious blood of Jesus Christ, who is Lord and Savior of my life, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, I AM NOT ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, and proudly proclaim Him as my Lord and Savior! That makes me a Christian.

As well, there are many, many more here who are also, and would gladly make the same statement. I could start naming them, but I would surely leave one or two out, and I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings.........but, I assure you, this Site has many wonderful Christians here.

Okay, if you think that is false teaching, you will have to do mental gymnastics to the implication of Mark 16 16 that explicitly stated that belief AND water baptism are required for salvation. If you are more comfortable doing that, whatever floats your boat I guess.

For me, I prefer to adopt a literal reading of the Bible, as far as I can.
