When people ring you and you cant answer but they dont leave a message, do you call them back?

Just wondering, especially if its a number you dont know. Do you ever call it and say did you call me? And you have no idea who it is.

It only works if you have the kind of phone that shows you who called you last. But why dont they leave a message? Ive had several calls of numbers I dont know and Im thinking who could be ringing me and not leaving any messages? Strange. I dont have the phone strapped to my wrist or in my bra like some people do. I am not standing by waiting for people to call me.

The other thing is, how long can you talk on the phone for...what would be your longest conversation. How do you know that person just wants to hang up but annoyingly they dont ever say they have to go. They wait for you to end it. I thought if you rang, then you just continue for however long till they end it. Have you ever hung up on anyone? Or do you just say I have to go to the toilet now, bye.

Most of the time, I find when someone calls and does not leave a message, it was some sort of promo call for a product. I did call back a couple times numbers I didn't know, and either they wouldn't go through or it was from an advert company. If it's someone I know they leave a msg or I have the number on caller ID.
Re long calls, when I feel the call is winding down and we are just kind of repeating things, I usually say something like 'well it's been great talking with you' and then wrap it up. Done with respect, it works just fine!

Sometimes if its an out of area number or something with lots of 000s in it, you can tell its from telemarketers. So you can just let it ring because if you do answer it will just goes to a pre recorded message.

If you do happen to answer and its a person you can just say to them am bit busy right now will call you back, but most of the time they dont even give you a number to call back on and just hang up. They dont even say who they are. I wonder what type of person just calls people they dont even know and hopes they will answer.

Itsa bit different from just putting an ad or txt out hoping someone will respond cos calls do interrupt people and they have to stop whatever they are doing to answer them.

Do some people have this idea that there are people sitting around, waiting for their phone to ring?!

'Phone scams are on the rise. Answering an unknown number is bonus points for telemarketer
on the other end, plus an answered number is passed on to network of promo solicitors.'

I usually never, ever pick up a phone number that I do not recognize. If it is important, they will leave a voicemail. Most of the time, they do not.

I hate talking on the phone. If I'm with someone romantically, I do not mind it. However, I try to text over a phone call. Regardless, I do try to talk on the phone if it's something serious!

When you arewith someone romantically? What on earth do you talk about? You are so handsome. Why thanks. You are so beautful. Kiss kiss over the phone? I like to hear the sound of your voice...?

I usually have my phone on silent, turn it off when I go to sleep. I dont answer my personal phone during work hours. I wait till i get home. I never use it while driving and will not answer calls after 9, if Im having a nap will just let it ring.

One person rang me last night and she got a call while we were talking on her other phone. She stopped to talk to other person and then called me back.

But weird thing is after that she kept saying she was going to end the call but then would keep talking so i had to end it for her. I just said well I got to go and have dinner now, bye, and hung up before she tried to keep on talking. She was also starting to gossip about other people. She was like you know how so and so...and I was like Nope no idea. I then was wondering why she called me in first place, but then its like the second thing she said was it was my birthday the other week and I said oh I didnt know or remember happy birthday for then.

Some people make funny phone conversations but if they call you I think its just best to listen till they run out of things to say. After a certain point they may stop talking about themselves, asking about you and then go on about other people thats when I think its best to hang up.

I answer phones all day at work, so the last thing i want to do when I get off work is talk to someone else on the phone.

Just like shineyourlight, I prefer text over phone calls any day, and the hubs feels the same way too.

I hate long txts though. I will not answer a screed longs txts. Keep it simple stupid. Or email is better.

Sometimes calls are good if you need direct answer or emergencies, but otherwise, dont call unless its really important.

If I hear my phone ring, I’ll answer. If it’s a machine, it will usually give me the option to have my number removed from their system. If I miss a call, and they don’t leave a message, I don’t call back.

I prefer to text than to talk on the phone. When hubby and I were dating, we talked on the phone almost every night since we lived in different cities. But then we switched to Skyping.

My dad would ring home evry night when he was at work on his tea break just to check we were home and he would always ask what we were having for dinner. Then he hung up.

Conversation would be 3 minutes max.

My phone etiquette is bad to say the least I think. Not when I’m on the phone but just my phone practices in general.

I always forget to call back. I usually text first before calling unless I have to. I also tend to get annoyed with people wanting me to like sit on the phone while they’re doing like wash or the dishes or something and trying to talk. Like dude I have stuff to do you’re obvious busy just send me a text.

I dont like it when people answer their phones in public, like everyone can hear their conversation.
And who calls people for long conversations while in public? Thats just too weird. I think they want other people to think they have a friend.

If im going to have a long conversation with someone on the phone, I will go into my room and shut the door. Its like Jesus says dont make long repetitive prayers in public. Go into your closet and shut the door. Other people dont need to hear it.

Weird my phone has been called twice today by different numbers that I dont know, and both times no message was left. Also the day before that each day for 3 days and then 6 days ago it was called three times by different numbers and no message. All mobile numbers.

Oh well they can just keep trying till they leave a message cos Im not calling random numbers I dont know.
