I'm not the one failing to address the point.

'do not eat strangled animals' and 'do not eat anything that has been waved before an idol' are not commands in the Sinai covenant law.

Rather, 1 Corinthians 10 informs us about the rationale behind the councils recommendations to the gentiles.

Unless you think Paul is an heretic?

PH,

You are either not reading the replies, or you are ignoring them, or you do not understand, please let me know, I know you are not the type to be obtuse.

You either are ignorant of, or purposely (willingly) ignorant of what's being discussed here.
You are speaking of the "salvation" that is an "everlasting" salvation!

If you do not understand that there was (at least) 1 earth/heaven age BEFORE this one?
You will never understand the "difference" from an "everlasting salvation", and "eternal salvation."
Jesus, His Disciples, the Apostles HAVE this "Eternal salvation!"

Because? The "Fullness of the Gentiles?" It's nigh on "being fulfilled!"

I CAN'T stop it from coming? Nor, do I even wish to!

YOU, can't STOP it from coming? Nor, SHOULD you wish to!

ALL the demons and godless and lawless spirits, AND "entities", CAN'T stop it from coming! TRY AS THEY DO!

The "carnal man", like the "energizer bunny?" Wants this present earth/heaven age to just "keep going, and going, and going!

News flash! It's not gonna keep going, and going, and going!

Stop teaching that which is everlasting salvation ONLY!

Start teaching that which "merges" INTO eternal salvation! If one can, that is!
Could you show me that previous earth/heaven age in the bible?

Paul gives us the reason why we should not eat meat offered to idols and it has nothing to do with the law or dietary reasons - it's for the conscience of the weak so that the stronger doesn't offend the weaker.

1Co 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.
1Co_8:10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

Sometimes I get a chuckle out of how many discussions are settled "if Paul said it" Like there's no other words in the Bible! lol! :)

I just did.

Are they going to take you to the synagogues for claiming to keep the law? (hint: no)

Or for stating point blank "I am not under YOUR law, I am dead to the law, I am alive to Christ fully and trust in Him alone" (hint: yes)

I thought that would maybe marinate for a bit and you would see you misunderstood scripture. I guess not.
You understand "everlasting salvation."
I understand "everlasting salvation" also.
I understand "eternal salvation"
You do not! Else you would not be mocking and scoffing so, at those who do understand what "eternal salvation" IS!

By the way, my position would be that all believers, before and after Christ, were justified by his blood. The atonement had not occurred in time and space yet, and the recipients under the Mosaic Law didn't know the precise details, but they knew God would provide for them.
I think your position is reasonable; the blood of our Lord is so powerful that it can have retroactive effect.

Job said, I know that my Redeemer lives....Abraham looked forward to Jesus' day...so I believe the content of their faith was known in some vague, shadowy way and it would not be unreasonable to assume that their faith had more content than we may have confirmed for us in the Scriptures.
Thanks for introducing me to this verse! I can tell you it has already made me more interested in the book of Job.

By the way, John called Jesus the Lamb that takes away the sin of the world, too..an inference to the Passover lamb.
OK, but that's not Jesus speaking; it's John.

I'd like to hear your opinion about the article below:

Jesus did not teach salvation by grace
by Nathan Rambeck on Apr 12, 2017

If you count up the number of time Jesus used the word “grace” compared to the amount of times grace is used in the rest of the New Testament, can you guess what the ratio is? The ratio is actually 0 because not once in any of the four gospels does the Bible record Jesus using the word “grace” in his earthly ministry. Not .. one ... time.

How can that be? Jesus IS the grace of God. It was His death for our sins that made grace available to every man.

When I was a young believer about 18 years old, I had a renewed passion for the Bible and started listening to any Bible teaching I could get my hands on. One teaching made a tremendous impression on me. Although I can’t remember what the overall topic was, I remember the teacher making this emphatic statement: “If you want to know how to get saved you have to look in the epistles of Paul because you won’t find the plan of salvation anywhere in the gospels.”

What!?! That just could not be. How could anyone make such an absurd claim?

So I spent the next week searching through all the gospels to prove this raving lunatic wrong.

Yet I came up empty handed. Not once did Jesus tell anyone to trust in His atoning blood. Not once did He mention redemption made available through His death.

What came as even more of a shock was when I read the account of the rich young ruler in Matthew 19 who asked Jesus the most important question anyone could ask: “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

Jesus responded unambiguously: If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

What did He say!?! Keep the commandments? Surely He must be talking about the commandments to trust in Christ alone? He follows up with: “You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. Honor your father and mother. You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” In other words, to inherit eternal life you must keep the Law of Moses.

Jesus taught under the Old Covenant Law of Moses
What I did not understand then was that Jesus’ entire earthly ministry was under the covenant of Law that continued to be the only covenant offered to God’s people at that time. Eternal life through Christ’s blood was not available yet, so the only answer Jesus could give to that young rich man was what the Law of Moses declared in Leviticus 18:5:
You shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them. Leviticus 18:5
Under the Law, life was found in keeping the commandments.
Of course that all changed when the gospel of the grace of God was offered. Paul specifically quotes Leviticus 18 in Galatians 3:12 and Romans 10:5 to tell us that this eternal life by keeping the law has been done away with. Under grace, the just shall live by faith.
But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” Yet the law is not of faith, but “THE MAN WHO DOES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM.” Galatians 3:11–12
Reading the gospels with fresh eyes
When I came to realize everything Jesus said and taught in His earthly ministry was under the covenant of law established by Moses, everything changed for me. The amazing salvation and Christian life by grace through faith alone that I read about in Paul’s letters no longer had to be balanced or mixed with the things that Jesus said that so many times seemed contradictory.

Of course, everything that Paul teaches about grace are only things revealed to him by Jesus Christ through the many visions he received.
But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. Galatians 1:11–12
It’s Jesus Himself who is the author and teacher of grace. Let’s just be careful to remember the grace He delivered was only after His earthly ministry recorded in the Gospels. The letters in red found in the gospels are according to the covenant of law and not the gospel of grace.

I called my brother out. But then that brother starts crying foul, saying I'm not calling out other brothers. Then a song and dance began of accusations and claims of belittling.

Be blessed.

Greetings Marcelo,

Interesting article! This is undoubtedly why so many refute the book of Revelation because it continues to speak of adherence to obedience to the Commandments and says nothing about the doctrine of Grace, and it was written many years after Paul's last epistle. I think the book of James is on that list too.

Takes a lot of Prayer and diligence in searching out all of the scriptures so that we can "rightly divide"!

Rev_12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev_14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Rev_22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Here's the only two times "Grace" is used in Revelation;

Rev_1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
Rev_22:21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Genesis 1
2 And the earth "was" (BECAME) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Jeremiah 4
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger.
27 For thus hath the Lord said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.
2 Peter 3
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

If it was not for the fact that you all do this same song and dance, I may agree with you.

But since it is normal action from those who love to preach law. I just consider the source, and take it as further proof that you all have some serious issues to deal with.

And when you call one person out who has a differing belief, but fail to call out people who have the same belief as you. That is called being a hypocrite.

But if thats how you wish to be known. Enjoy.

Are you thinking that keeping the commandments means obeying them like a rule book?
In other words the woman and her seed in Rev 12:17 perfectly obeyed the ten commandments?

Hi, SG!

But Nathan Rambeck's position is different from yours. He believes that Jesus preached the Law of Moses and states that the plan of salvation is found in the letters of Paul.

Just getting your view of what KEEPING the commandments means.

No, You see a "rule book" is for those who won't do it any other way. I don't need a rule book to tell my chickens to eat or look for bugs or poop EVERYWHERE!

The acts of obedience comes from a willing heart. Once the Law is written on the heart they become a desire. The 'rule book" turns into a "love letter"! Sounds Nerdy, but it is true brother. There is a place where sin is no longer of any interest. This takes a proactive choice on our part to continue to deny the flesh.

But this again goes to the heart, to surrendering to the Holy Spirits guidance, to denying the flesh. Part of denying the flesh is studying the Word. Definitely proactive, otherwise why not give us all a lobotomy and program obedience. I'm being silly, but just to make a point.

Our Heavenly Father wants to observe our choices. A programmed vessel cannot "love" God. As I have said many times God desires our Love like any Father does, but He only recognizes one form of Love and that is obedience. He even gives us the means to be obedient, bu putting His Laws in our hearts.

How is his plan of salvation different than mine? I do not have my own plan by the way.
