Whattt (gasp!) those are some of the most fun books! Same goes for books like Chronicles and Judges which people kind of dismiss. These are full of Messianic foreshadowing. Like when they build the temple... None of God's instruction what materials and designs to use are accidental, but all with intent.
If one translates the names of characters and places from Hebrew, you might get surprised with the extra message the story is packing... which is yet another way to help "more boring" books become more interesting. Nothing is accidental, but all with God's forethought.

(The best site I ran into so far for meanings of personal names and places, is Abarim publications, just to drop a note)
If someone wants to check this video out... Two life changing minutes... You will never see genealogies or other "lists" in the Bible as pointless content again...

Jesus must not have gotten the memo...He directly quoted Deuteronomy 3 times at his temptation.....

What was it He quoted Decon? No challenge, just interested. 😉

I agree with you soulweaver. It’s hidden allegorical meanings. I’ve read many articles from Missler. Some videos so far over my head but I try to understand. By glimpses then. Lol

A prophetess from Aglow prophesied to me that this is the dainty dessert of the Word. Not all care for the rich dessert.

Act as a Christian? Lol. Read it in the Amplified and you might “catch my drift”.
Why would I read it from the Amplified, when that translation has DELIBERATELY PERVERTED what is written?

We will focus on just two verses (Isa 28:9,10 KJV) since that is what we are talking about as applicable to Christians. There is also a great deal of rebuke for Israel, but that's a different topic.

Whom shall He teach knowledge? and whom shall He make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

1. Who is the Divine Teacher of Christians? The Holy Spirit (hence the capitalization)

2. Whom does the Spirit make to understand doctrine (the meat of the Word)? Mature Christians (not babes in Christ) -- those who have been weaned from the *milk* of the Word of God (the elementary truths of the Gospel).

The apostle Paul has the same instruction for Christians in Hebrew 5:11-14, and he ties it in with knowing how to discern between good and evil (and act on it, which goes without saying, since actions speak louder than words)

HEBREWS 5 (KJV)
11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

As the OP says "A lot of things are scattered throughout the Bible... We need a good command of the entire book." And this is where Isa 28:10 comes in: For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: Which simply means that the Holy Spirit does not overwhelm the Christian who seeks the truth, but teaches him or her progressively.

You also made a couple of irrelevant (or inappropriate) remarks: "The body of Christ is not under law." There is not even hint about this in the OP. Therefore I called it a "knee-jerk" reaction. And strictly speaking the Body of Christ is under the Law of Christ. Which is even more demanding than the Law of Moses.

Then you said this: That’s actually a negative scripture for its saying do this, do that, and I will do this or that. And how can it possibly be negative for a Christian to do what God and Christ command, and not do what they forbid, and also expect the corresponding responses from God?

If walking in Spirit is by precepts, then it’s law. Not grace which actually is the power of Holy Spirit working in our life.

The law of Christ is demanding? Rest Nehemiah. His yoke is easy.

ISV

Isa 28:9 To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? To children just weaned from milk? To those just taken from the breast?

Isa 28:10 For it is: "Do this and do that, do this and do that, Line upon line, line upon line, a little here, a little there."

Isa 28:11 Very well, then, by strange lips and foreign tongues the LORD will speak to this people

Isa 28:12 to whom he said, "This is the resting place, so give rest to the weary"' and "This is the place of repose"—but they would not listen.

Isa 28:13 So, then, the message from the LORD to them will become: "Do this and do that, do this and do that, line upon line, line upon line, a little here, a little there," so that they will go, but fall backward, and be injured, snared, and captured.

Doctrine is good for understanding what now is reality in Christ (anointing).

The problem with rejection of the baptism of Holy Spirit and the spiritual language of the new creation man, is one follows logos when it’s rhema that leads.

Understand? Logos is as a knife but rhema is the sword.

Soulweaver, if you doubt that, then look at the definitions of each time Word is written. NT.

My first advice to any new believers we be just read through the Bible from cover to cover. Dont worry about doctrines or what who and who believes. Just let the Bible plainly reveal itself to you.

This sets the foundation. Once read now it will be easier to filter out not so accurate teachings. Now it is time to move forward from a infant in faith and on into maturity as you grow and begin to study the scriptures.

When studying scripture we must always first ask a few questions.

1. Who is speaking
2. What is the cultural context and Biblical context?
3. When in the historical timeline was the scripture spoken?
4. Where is the individual speaking?
5. Why was the author writing or intended audience?

This reinforces the first foundation.

There are other tools like if two scriptures seem to contradict, we use the and/or concept where the scripture adds more detail.

You can use interlinear books that translate Hebrew or Greek to English. This helps you see the original truest meaning of the text. This often times sheds light on which translations are not as accurate.

Also grammatical genders for the Hebrew and Greek language can help with understanding.
Grammatical gender can influence people’s thinking, the language’s grammatical gender can have significant and surprising effects on cognition.

Theologians or Pastor's commentaries can help as long as you test it if its integrity is good to build on your Biblical foundation.

Using a easy to read Bible also helps.
My favorite is the NIV and is easy to read compared to Bibles like the King James.

Learning apologetics can also increase understanding and how to put your beliefs into words so you communicate your understanding as you practice evangelism.

Here is a example using the 5 steps above.

Matthew 7:1
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Okay
1. The who was Jesus.

2. The what. Cultural context is understanding the Jewish culture and how the Mosiac laws at the time was being abused. The scripture context is where does the idea of this verse begin and end. Reading the whole passage as one. If you read on Do not judge turns into do not judge hypocritically.

3. When in the timeline of history did this take place. From scripture we find it took place early in Jesus's ministry.

4. Where. This scripture came out of Jesus's Sermon on the mount also called the Beatitudes. Jesus was on a mountainside teaching to his disciples and a large crowd.

5. Why. the intended audience was Jewish believers as to why Matthew has so much Old Testament references.

Maybe this helps.

On topic: It depends a lot on your own eyes what you will glean from the Bible.
If you are looking to be uplifted, you will be uplifted. If you are looking for counsel, you find counsel.
Atheists find reasons to hate God. Because you find what you're looking for.

If walking in Spirit is by precepts, then it’s law. Not grace which actually is the power of Holy Spirit working in our life.
I've never taken "precept" to mean "the law" but instead "instruction". That's actually really what the law was. Instruction for that covenant. The law is in the form "thou shalt NOT", a list of prohibitions. Don't do what God hates.
This resulted with people trying to find "loopholes" to keep doing what God hates, which is called out by the prophets all the time.
But the instruction that we get from Jesus is non-negative. Do what God loves instead. It took Jesus and filling us with the Holy Spirit to make that happen.
And this is how following Jesus fulfills the law, because doing what God loves is in opposition to doing what God hates.
Let us drop this law thing now, please, and continue on topic :coffee:

You are missing my point. It’s not about law, precepts, instruction, commandments....

It’s His Voice in communion, fellowship, oneness with Him....and His anointing. Presence.

I only intervened to make this point.

One last thing and I exit. The serpent is still enticing men to seek knowledge to be like God.

I see this now and was caught in his trap too long. Now I’m hoping to be a tool to free others.

God is wanting children who’s sole vision is on Jesus, then we become like Him. A single eye.

How did a thread about seeking and learning about God through His Word turn into a bad idea and searching for the serpent in your opinion, I cannot understand. Take the spirit of what I say.
You also assume about other believers. What gives you the audacity to claim I am not baptized in the Holy Spirit? For a born again believer you sure like to tear others down. I thought Jesus sent us to build fellow believers up.

When you opened this thread , I thought it was wonderful , a great place where we can share what the Holy Spirit is teaching us as we walk home onwards to heaven...

I am in the book of John , and I can honestly say my eyes are being opened...

This morning I was reading where Jesus was speaking to His Disciples and He said "Peace I leave you , not of this world " , well I stopped and pondered on that , and before I knew it , hours had gone by as I delved into study about the word peace , so thankful for having my eyes opened , the book of John is really working in me at present , and I know the Lord is feeding me meat as I still drink the milk to wash it down , that is where I am at at the moment , resting in His peace :)...

Before I would just read the word , but now I am studying it , going deeper and finding gems...

Praise the LORD and thank You Jesus \:)/

It is interesting to see what God is teaching us all , rather than people thinking they know it all , it is refreshing , I would love to see more babes in Christ come to this thread , we can learn from each other , no matter how young or old we are in our Lord...xox...

Where did I say you weren’t baptized in Holy Spirit?

I didn’t ask.

You aren’t understanding but someone will catch this. It took me a while to see the difference.

Knowledge builds men’s pride.

And Rosemary, I’m not addressing what we know. It’s who we know.

I said I will exit. Unless you want to further chastise? That was not my intention by the way, but I am direct in my writing. Not emotional.

If I misunderstood you, forgive me. It was in one of your previous posts. If this thread continues to be such a problem, I'll ask a mod to delete it. I'd rather have it deleted than arguments going on. You're literally taking everything that was said in wrong way.
