The Great Whore

The Bible (KJV) clearly declares that Mystery, Babylon The Great is a literal city with a geographical location from where the Antichrist will reign over many kings of the earth:

Rev. 17:18
"And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

Following are Biblical Scriptures that reveal future JERUSALEM as this symbolic (Mystery) city:

Rev. 17:5-6
"And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. [6] And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration."
Babylon is a symbolic name. Look at how Jerusalem is referred to by similar analogous names such as Sodom, Gomorrah, and Egypt. All of these, Sodom, Gomorrah, Egypt, and Babylon are all recorded enemies of God’s people.

Isaiah 1:1-21
"The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah...
Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah... How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. "
Moses warns the Jews how God will punish them and destroy their land if they forsake His covenant.

Deut. 29:23-25
"And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: [24] Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:"

Jeremiah 23:14
"I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah."

Romans 9:27-29

In the Book of Revelation John continues this use of mystery names for the "Great City." He uses symbolism to refer to people who had betrayed God’s people.
Rev. 11:8
"And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified."
Revelation 11:8 is extremely important because it tells us just where this "Great City" is. It is "where our Lord was crucified." It is Jerusalem.

DESTROYED WITH FIRE

God promised blessings to the Jews if they obeyed, Deut 28:8, and seven curses if they disobeyed, verses 15 -20. God’s Covenant is effected by His Oath. The word "oath" is based on the word "seven." Thus, the number "seven" represents the Covenant. In Leviticus He threatens to punish the Jews with fire if they break His Covenant.

Leviticus 26:15-16
"And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: [16] I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it."

It was prophesied that Jerusalem would be destroyed by fire in the following passages:

In John's prophetic vision future "Babylon" is to be destroyed by fire.
Rev. 18:8

Jerusalem was a center for commercial trade, but true to prophecy it was completely destroyed by fire in 70 AD, whereas, Rome was only partially burned by Nero.
The burning of Jerusalem by fire also had theological significance. The City of Jerusalem is often referred to as a daughter.
Lament. 2:15-18
"All that pass by clap their hands at thee; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? [16] All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it. Unfaithfulness to God is frequently compared to as sexual immorality.
The penalty for fornication by the daughter of the priest called for a special punishment. She was to be burned to death.
Leviticus 21:9
"And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire."

So, when Jerusalem was offered the opportunity to accept Christ, but instead rejected Him, she is referred to as the "Whore of Babylon" who is subsequently to be burned to death.

THE HARLOT

Just as "Babylon" is referred to as a whore, a harlot, Jerusalem is also called a harlot.

No where in scripture are we told, or is it even hinted he will reign in Jerusalem. He will be over the revised roman empire (which had fallen and been restored)

Thanks for your reply. The most important thing we have to do is separate the whore from the 10 kings. The roman empire does play a big part. You are correct on this, but she belongs to the 10 kings. The ten kings are not however just Rome, but have come out of her. They have her same strength now, but mightier. That strength/power is revived, healed, but not to forget that in that 10 king mixture is 10 different nations, some weak, some strong.

This is how the beast assumes power through the false prophet, I agree.

But scripture states that once the beast takes power, there is three and a half years of peace and joy. It it at the end of this 3 1/2 years right before the beast enters the temple to make "abomination" that he destroys the harlot. and when he does it, the whole world, "Who loved the harlot" is amazed and saddened that the harlot is destroyed.

Yes, but you are missing something, the beast strips her system naked at the start, even before the false prophet arrives. It's not the same system as the world knew it, where countries are run by their own governments or presidents and control their own economy and people. No she is different now, the 10 kings will take over and rule the whole world, and they do this through the economy. Few countries in Europe that have gone bankrupt such as Greece, Spain, Ireland, Portugal have been bailed out by the IMF (International Monetary Fund) These such countries are now owned by the IMF and the IMF will tell those nations they helped how to to exactly disperse their funds which in turn affects their peoples. They make stricter access for government help on the people for things such as unemployment benefits and pensions, & other govt assistances creating even further poverty. But this IMF is just paving the way. Planting the seed. The idea is here already and we know that when a body of 10 kings officially merge, then they will enforce this system on the whole world and the false prophet will come up shortly afterwards to lead. There are people in high places causing global economic catastophe. They are behind the scenes, scheming, & planning. They have an agenda and it's all through greed and power. They fall perfectly into Satans plan without even knowing it, as they have not the knowledge that God has given us.

Thus one must ask.. why would the beast destroy the harlot when the harlot is on his side, and the word evidently follows the harlot (which is to his advantage) right before he enters the holy of holies and commits the abomination of desolation?

Satan has created the harlot as a stepping stone for his end plan. The harlot was always his from the start. He always has an alterior motive. The harlot is his, the 10 kings are his, the false prophet is his, the peoples are his. He's only intention is to destroy and he does this with one thing in mind. To kill destroy all christians. Put them in a corner so they cant escape him anymore. He wants to take the whole world down with him too, cause he's got wrath and knows that his time is coming to an end. After which a great earthquake happens, which destroys 1/10 of the city, and 7000 People, and because of this, the inhabitants of the city PRAISE GOD AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY. Why? THEY HAVE REPENTED. Thanks for your reply. The most important thing we have to do is separate the whore from the 10 kings. The roman empire does play a big part. You are correct on this, but she belongs to the 10 kings. The ten kings are not however just Rome, but have come out of her. They have her same strength now, but mightier. That strength/power is revived, healed, but not to forget that in that 10 king mixture is 10 different nations, some weak, some strong.

Not Sure where you get this. The ten kings are a reformation of the final world beast spoken of in Daniel (the toes) I do not see where this comes from the Harlot.

It is the false prophet who makes everyone take the mark. They do not follow the harlot. It just states the harlot "sits: in them, or resides in them.

Remember, It is the beast who claims to be the messiah, And the world is forced to worship him, which means the Harlots false system must be destroyed, So her followers will see her false system (how could the God who formed her allow her to be destroyed. The fact she is destroyed will prove to the world her God was false. And everyone will then be free to worship the beast.

Why do any of you care to know who she is? Those things will be revealed in their right time. You should be more focused on the words of Jesus. You should be more focused on making SURE your salvation. Did Jesus give you any revelation? Revelation is not reading the bible, and presuming ideas, like you all have done. Revelation is straight from God by his Holy Spirit.

You can form your ideas all your life, just like the religious law searchers of Jesus' day and still not arrive at the Truth without revelation. Why do you search scripture for Truth? Is not Jesus truth? Is not the Holy Spirit the one that leads us into all Truth? Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Make sure you are prepared against the end.
