God help you if you mispronounce Chinese. You could be trying to say the Lords prayer but it might turn out you are just making Him laugh at your bad Chinese.

Libry or liberry?
I would prefer libry, but I wonder if I just put that on my sign instead of Library, whether the teachers would notice? What if, to make things easier, we just wrote phonetically or all spoke pidgin?

Hardest consonants/ syllables to say

But then the ghost of subjunctive past showed up and told me I should stand strong on "if it were."

The downside is Lanolin will never know I posted those so-very-apropos comics. Oh well, I could care less. I could LITERALLY care less. :p

What if, to make things easier, we just wrote phonetically
When my son was in kindergarten, I had a big "AHHH" moment one day while his teacher was showing me some work at conference time. Since I saw the work he brought home I was familiar with what they were learning and his progress. She started "reading" his picture story to me and I was like "WOW! What a great memory you have!"
She looked at me puzzled
I said "well, I don't see anywhere on the paper where you have notes as to what the labels on the pictures are saying, so you must have a great memory to have done this paper 2 months ago and still be able to know what he talked about; either that or you reviewed it with him this week"
She said, "No, I just read it to you"
"yeah but, whats written is a bunch of random letters. How can you read that and know what it says?"
She then proceeded to read the words he had written and point out to me how it was phonetically written as he heard it.
I had fun over the next few days when waiting in the hallway to pick him up as I "read" all the kindergartners papers hanging there.
So for example
DANS would be how they wrote DANCE.

This thread is just to list common words that are mispronounced, as edification for anyone else. Please practice saying these words properly!

Ok two that bug me is

And ask. It is not 'aks'

Lol! you wouldn't like living in Australia then - we abbreviate like mad & don't say anything correctly! Loveable larrakins that we are ;)

Isn't liberry how people say library in the Southern US?

Yes, there and in most ghettos. Here is one for you: The state of Louisiana: Lu-see-ana is how Southerners pronounce it. Northerners pronounce it: Lu-weez-e-ana. The same goes for New Orleans: Southerners: New Or-le-ans. Northerners: New Or-leenz.
