Try this for the coughing. Take a hand towel and soak it in ice water. Or if you don't have ice just soak it in very cold water. Once it is fully saturated wring it out and then fold it and lay the towel across the front of your daughters throat. Have her either sitting up or, reclining back on a pillow but at an angle, not laying flat.
The ice cold water stops the coughing spasms. Repeat as necessary.
Another good thing for coughing, if she doesn't have an allergy to bee products, is a teaspoon of honey. Swallow that down slowly and let it coat the throat. That added to the ice cold towel should bring her peace and stop the coughing.

Oh no the poor wee thing!! How awful for you both! Do take her to the local clinic or hospital if it gets much worse & she isn't eating or drinking - especially if she is not drinking, as children can dehydrate very quickly.
