To obtain "Eternal Salvation", and indeed become "salvation" for the nations in Eternity, we must be "refined in the fire" and proven "worthy", just as the Man Jesus had to be proven and "perfected" to be "made Lord and Christ" and "become the author of Eternal salvation to those who obey Him."
We will never be worthy enough to earn salvation.

In one sense, mankind was "saved" by the obedience and sacrifice of the Man Jesus.

To begin the Journey our first step is to "believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Heb 11:6

We must be careful that our "faith" in not in "faith" itself, but in the Father, and in the Son.

And properly translated, Hab 2:4 reads "the righteous shall live by his faithfulness." This "faithfulness" being a complete surrender to God. The opposite being one who is "proud." (I've spent much time teaching on this single verse alone!)

As Jesus said, of those who will "come after" Him (meaning being conformed into His image, becoming One with Him), there must be a denial of self, a picking up of our own cross daily and following Him the Way of the Cross, which signifies death and rebirth.

When I preach this in the churches I'm involved with, I often get blank stares, and I know this Truth is far beyond what many have known. But it IS Bible. And honestly, if God has desired, once one sees, by the Spirit, the Truth of God's Word, you begin to see it all throughout the Scripture, and it becomes impossible to unsee.

The understanding of "salvation" is greatly off today. Unless one can cast aside the traditions of man and the Religious filters that have been erected that we often view the Scripture through, we will remain blind and deaf, which is the purpose of the spiritual enemies of God. And God allows even the delusion, as He is testing those who will sit with the Lamb on His Throne to judge and rule over the saved of the nations. Amen.

Do we have "ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches" today?

May we be among that remnant who have fellowship with the Father.

"who has stood in the council of Yahweh
to see and hear His word?
Who has paid attention to His word and obeyed? "
- Jer 23:18

Peace.
Lol, your understanding is the same as all these others here ! Believe and recieve!

Ephesians 2:8 disagrees with you also.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
That's referring to Grace, not Faith. Otherwise God wouldn't repeat what we must do to be saved 248 times.

Pisteuo a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender.

A person cannot be saved by grace, without also having faith. God gives us grace, THROUGH our faith..

Your the same !!!!!!!

Yeah well, do you notice how all the BORN AGAIN believers on this thread agree and know the truth.

Should make you wonder....but then it seems you prefer a "secret" over the Truth.... the Truth that truly sets us free.

Where does it say Zacchaeus believed Jesus as his saviour?
He called him Lord

Luke 19:8-10
8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

He was the only one who sought Jesus here.

Luke 19:2-3
2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature.

Isaiah 55:6-7
6 Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

Jesus called Zacchaeus by name, and then said, “I must stay at your house today.” Jesus called and saved Zacchaeus and then began a personal relationship with him.
And as a result we see what?
A changed man.
The change was not what saved him.
But it was the personal relationship aka Lord that saved him.

In fact under the law we find that Zacchaeus went beyond the law.

Under the law only 20% had to be given back.

He went beyond that.

Amen. See we DO agree. :)

We've been "saved" by what Jesus alone did.

NOW.... what are we doing with that "salvation"?

Indeed if we "walk worthy", remain "faithful", "overcome", and "endure til the end". we will inherit the promises of God in Rev 2 & 3.

May we be among those who do not "neglect so great a salvation", and "shrink back", lest we forfeit our inheritance.

Amen.

I can tell you one thing we do not have to work to keep it.

Jesus has accomplished it all by His Work on the cross and it is Finished in Him.

For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Romans 8 29-30
