Can I just focus on NT and gospels?

There are some interesting stories in the OT. And some major events. Plus some profound verse. (Hosea one of my faves)
But dont some Christians just focus on NT? That sounds wise to me. Well you might say NT cant be fully understood without knowledge of OT. But I will leave that up to the experts. Then i can read their commentaries. I just want to grasp the main themes of John for example. And of course. St. Paul. A more holistic approach than a detailed one.
Do you think that acceptable?

There are churches that preach almost exclusively from the 4 gospels

How can anyone truly know if this is in fact written.

Matt 4
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Well I think the NT is mostly about the promise of salvation fulfilled and because Jesus has given all authority over all things and because most of the epistles were written to us Gentiles. The NT is more important to us that were never under the laws of Moses we should probably read it first and most. Not saying we shouldn't read the OT after were are firmly grounded in Saved by grace.

I've read the OT and have used the prophecies fulfill by Jesus mentioned in the NT and the letter to the Hebrews as study guides right now we are in 2 Samuel, Isaiah and Philippians daily. But look up scriptures throughout the entire Bible as well.

Everything needed to be saved is in the NT but after having a firm grip. It would be better still to get to understand the entire Bible as well as we can.

You cannot understand the New Testament unless you know and understand the Torah. The Torah lays the foundation for the New Testament. If you have no foundation then your building will collapse.

Acceptable to whom? To other Christians? Perhaps, depending on their level of biblical understanding. To God? Probably not, unless the person asking is a new Christian looking at what to read in their first year.

as you grow in knowledge of Him you're going to find out that the same gospel is throughout the whole Bible. all of it is testifying of Christ; He's on every page

I agree read it all,,,this is 2019 google Genesis audio and listen to it and read along,,,,put it on an SD and plug it the car stereo back and forth to town,,,play a book one at a time when you go to sleep at night ect. ...The desire of loving God causes me to read it over and over and over.

Ive read and studied 80% of the OT once. I dont feel a need to revisit many of the books to be honest.

The opposite of lust is hatred,,,the opposite of love is emptiness. The more you love God the more your desire will be to look at everything about who you love.
