When I awake, I am still with you Yehovah

Hello I am a student of Jesus Christ
I was pondering
The Christian conundrum
To love your enemy and at the same time hate them for what is bad
In the imprecatory psalms.
Psalm 139:22
They have become real enemies to me.
and I believe the whole
of the Bible is beneficial to mankind

We are all students here. Welcome. It's difficult for most I think. Because most of us were not brought up in Torah believing Jewish households but that's fine. The most important thing to do is to realize that from the Genesis Chapter 3 the Bible points to the comming of the Christ. But he came in the flesh about 2000 years ago. So instead of focusing on the promise to come we would be better off as new believers to learn about the comming of Christ that fulfilled the prophecies of the in the man and Lord Jesus. First in fact after you become grounded in his life story and promises fulfilled Got to acts and read about what the first followers did and about the Holy Spirit which also is a promise fulfilled. The epistles are letters written mostly to gentiles which is mostly us who knew very little or nothing about the Old testament but the promise of salvation Includes us that never knew about them. I'm sure you hunger will increase with knowledge.

I'm not a Bible salesman but a good study bible you can read, and fairly easily understand is also a great asset. May I recommend an Open Bible or a Thompsons Chain reference are excellent study tools. Like when Jesus said "My God, My God why have you forsaken me?" there will be reference or footnotes that will lead you to Psalm 22. There's references to the Old Testament on every page but It's not difficult to stay on task with a logical order rather jumping willy nilly all over. And there's a dictionary in the back to look up unfamiliar words in and a concordance to see where in the Bible they are used. You shouldn't believe everything any body says that you are not familiar with. In fact the Bible teaches to put them to the test of the word of God. and the prophecies of the OT forward work the same way. It's amazing how fast you can learn with one. Welcome to the family.

Hi bibleprophecy welcome. I think Christians have to love their enemies and pray for them and at the same time not compromise with the world. I don't think it's a paradox, God said vengence in mine, I will repay and Paul said be all things to all men that I might save some.

I believe hating that which is hurtful, the sin, makes sense for our well-being. It helps us to not continue down sins path which hurts our souls.

I think loving those who hurt us is also for our well-being. Hatred of others hurts our souls.

He loves us so much and He doesn't want our souls hurting.

Welcome aboard bibleprophecy.

Greetings bibleprophecy and Welcome!

What did Jesus say about this?

"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same?"

We can still our enemies by hate their sin.

"save others by snatching them from the fire; and to still others, show mercy tempered with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh." - Jude 1:23

Amen!

The whole of the Scriptures/Bible is the inspired word of Elohim/God and is profitable for doctrine, reproof and correction. We cannot discard one jot or one title because of fear or inconvenience. For we are fearless and embrace inconvenient truths.

Psalm 110:1-2 King James Version (KJV)

110 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

2 The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

How do you reconcile that in the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament Israel are commanded to utterly annihilate their enemies while in the Greek Scriptures/New Testament the command is to love your enemies and turn/offer the other cheek?

Is it not true that the Real Enemies of Elohim/God are the incarnation/embodiment of Evil and in that case there is no separation between the person and the evil?

This is a topic for the bible discussion forum. Not for the Introductions forum. :) You'll get more replies and better coverage there.
