Have you ever known someone who reacted emotionally/unreasonably when faced with an uncomfortable/difficult situation, rather than choosing to respond to it in a reasonable manner
Since God (who we believe is impassible) is the ideal, then the ideal would certainly be that reason rules our emotions, but as they say, "some people just can't be reasoned with"

Emotions change like the phases of the moon, but the laws of logic including sound reasoning does not. One can either be reasonable or unreasonable. Reasonable depends on the laws of logic and that in order to be reasonable means one cannot break the laws.
Because the opposite of the law is illogical and unreasonable ideals.
God gave us both reason and emotion for good purposes. There is a time for everything.

Of all you have heard so far, I think Dino comes closest to being accurate. Jesus chastised the Pharisees because they operated strictly on "reason."

These are great points, How do we attain or apply self control in those situations where the emotions are greater than reason?
If the phases of the moon changing, are set laws of the cosmos wouldn't that be an example of reason?
Phases change, the wind changes, the seasons change, the tides change, whatever you want to use to describe change was the point. Emotions change and are often filled with chemical, hormonal, and electrical responses that make sound reasoning hard to accomplish.
