Hey Everyone,

I was thinking of this question tonight, as I will hopefully stick to my plan of getting up early in the morning and walking (for the purposes of fitness.)

When I say "early", that means about 3 or 4 AM, which I know will seem like the work of the devil to some, but for me, that's a normal schedule, and I always feel better if I can make myself stick to it.

Because I've had to work a lot of different shifts over the years and have often had to switch back and forth between days and nights, I keep very odd hours that I can never really predict. I just kind of have to go with how my schedule and energy levels direct me.

I've often said that if I get married, the poor guy might banish me to the couch because I am usually so restless.

How about the rest of you?

Any habits or little things you think might be a challenge for someone else to get used to?

And for our married friends (who are our panel of experts), tell us about the things you've found challenging to adjust to with your spouse, and/or things that your spouse had to adjust to about you (if it's not too personal.)

Looking forward to learning some new things about the people in our community here! :)

well, one I wont share here , but suffice to say my laundry is very low most of the time. I sew, I knit, collect matchbox and hot wheel cars, love road trips, sitting by the river, museum and art gallery's , don't watch sport, rarely watch commercial tv, don't have a shaved head, beard or tattoos, have no friends, havent spoken to any family since Christmas 2016, have afternoon naps, love music (lately sonic youth and siouxsie and the banshees) .And last but not least, very affectionate guy. Now I expect women to run in the opposite direction after reading all of that. Oh, did I mention I am an introvert and an empath?

I sing a lot to myself. Usually not very loudly, but often. Hey it comes in handy at w*rk... I don't have to listen to all the people complaining and gossiping around me.

I pick things apart. Not literally, but if we are watching a movie and there is something blatantly illogical I will mention it. I'm big on analyzing why I do what I do and believe what I believe, and if you do or believe something I don't understand I will probably ask questions until either I understand it or you tell me to shut up.

I occasionally do something really involved, like making 30-ish loaves of sourdough bread at one time, or making a five pound bag of dried peaches into jam. Just stay out of my way, don't try to help and everything will be fine. Eventually.

I use dishwashing liquid for almost everything. Washing my hair, body wash, car soap, dog shampoo, bug spray (it'll drop a wasp faster than Raid) and I've even been known to use it to wash a dish or two.

I snore. I don't know this for a fact, but I have been told by reliable witnesses that I do, continually and loudly. We might need to get separate bedrooms. (This is talking about quirks a hypothetical spouse might have to get used to.)

I do not take nagging very well. If you want me to do something, I will either do it or not. If I do not want to do it, you will need to come up with a reason I should do it. If I said I would do it but I didn't do it when you thought I should, state your case for me doing it sooner. Don't just keep telling me it needs to be done over and over. I respond well to logic, but my response to continual prodding really stinks.

Those are my clothes. Hands off. I do my own laundry.

I refuse to learn how to make coffee. If you are addicted to it, you make it. They make machines with timers that you can set to start brewing the next morning. I buy my own chocolate bars, you make your own coffee.

You can cook sometimes, but do NOT ban me from the kitchen.

I think that covers all the quirks that have a high probability of causing arguments.

What would she have to get used to living with me? Oh boy....where to begin. 😂

Let's just say she would have to be a VERY understanding, tolerant person. That's for sure. I could go into details, but I'll leave it at that. ;)

It may sound weird coming from a fellow man but your "profile" sounds good, in fact, great especially for ladies who are looking for someone caring and down to earth. I see little bit of myself in your profile as well and I can relate to some. God bless in your search for the right person.

Wow... that is early... to be honest getting used to early mornings or restlessness seems pretty mild considering all the possibilities...
I don't see myself ever banishing 'My Person' to the couch...
Albeit, my biggest anticipated challenge for my future life-partner is that I have a 75 lb pup (2.5 yrs old) that has kinda taken over the other side of my King sized bed lol...
So the negotiation for that side of the bed should certainly be an interesting ordeal... lol...
I'm certain that if she were to show him some TLC that he'd be more than willing to share that side of the bed... lol

Oh yeah, that's another of my quirks. You'll probably have to watch that movie alone. I don't like watching movies or TV shows. If this was the old days when they actually used video to tell stories... I might bring myself to watch a recording of people I don't know pretending to do things, for the sake of a good story. But modern TV and movies are mostly just calculated formulas for eliciting audience reactions, and I have no interest at all.

I don't know why, but for some reason a lot of people get offended when you won't watch a show with them. I don't understand that. But yeah, that's a quirk my (theoretical) wife would have to endure.

I love this thread @seoulsearch!

I am a very light sleeper, so I use a fan at bed time, even when it’s freezing.

I don’t do well when someone wakes me up.

When I don’t feel good, I’m kinda emotional.

I’m not a fan of shoes in the house.

I will keep thinking.

That would drive me crazy. 😂 I don’t even like the noise of someone cutting their nails.

afternoon napping. If someone is super active in afternoons they are not going to be able to do much with me when I decide to take a nap. Im not even a nana.

the other is I cant stand anyone having the tv on when nobodys watching it. I wouldnt choose to have a tv, so they better like books. If you have to have background noise to function, I cant stick around.

I think that would cover most of. what Im willing to share. I was once labelled quirky by one of my bosses, so be prepared.

oh also contrary to what many men seem to think, just cos Im female doesnt mean I like shopping.
