Not sure why but I've been feeling depressed again. Just feel like I'm fighting a losing battle with myself again
Depression can come on from many different reasons or triggers. Could be hormones, brain chemistry imbalance, or certain triggers within life events or memories that can spark depression.
Depression if unchecked can completely enslave your life. It can last weeks so it is very important that you know without a doubt that you are struggling with depression and not something like normal sadness or grief.
Symptoms
Although depression may occur only once during your life, people typically have multiple episodes. During these episodes, symptoms occur most of the day, nearly every day and may include:
- Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness
- Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters
- Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as sex, hobbies or sports
- Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much
- Tiredness and lack of energy, so even small tasks take extra effort
- Reduced appetite and weight loss or increased cravings for food and weight gain
- Anxiety, agitation or restlessness
- Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements
- Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or self-blame
- Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things
- Frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide
- Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches
If you experience these things then it is probably wise to seek a Pastor and psychologist. A Pastor to help with the spiritual side and a psychologist to help with the mental side. If you can find the trigger or cause you may can find healing but unfortunately many due to many reasons as they grow older certain chemicals in the brain either stop releasing like they are supposed to or do not receive like its supposed to. This is usually treated with medication. Be careful some are addictive and can cause other side affects.
Spiritually yes I will pray for you. Pray but also be active in your faith. Use the help God provides. Be thankful we have this help because many areas around the world are worse off and do not have many outlets to seek help.
Often times it takes reprogramming the brain. A psychologist will start with this by typically searching for the triggers and replacing them. Triggers can be buried in our subconscious and we respond without knowing why. Little do we know we have done buried something that gets triggered when a certain feeling, emotion, memory, life event, or something makes the brain replay saved emotions from past events. It's more or less a defense mechanism to tell us this situation isnt good and your brain saves the response. This is how anxiety disorders work against the individual. One anxious situation in the past can spark anxiety with any similar situation in the future if left unchecked.
So pray but also act. Get the help needed and let God work as you move with Him.
