YOUR ACCUSATION REEKS FROM ARMENIAN STYLE OF CHRISTIANITY, AND we are not CALVINIST.

As far as I know, there is not a genuine Calvinist on this board. OSAS, is not Calvinism, perhaps Calvinist also believe in OSAS, BUT NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. I only believe in three points of Calvinist, and therefore Calvinist do no consider those who believe in LESS THAN THE FULL FIVE POINTS OF CALVINISM, as outsiders. That is fine by me, I severely DISLIKE the Armenian VS. Calvinist ARGUMENT any day of the week, and as far as I am concerned, we evangelicals BURIED that argument in the early 80's. Then along comes someone like you, insisting that we need to keep digging up that rotten, smelly corpse, all over again.

Here is what evangelicals mean by OSAS, not the LIE that Armenians keep telling that they insist we Mean by that term, and most of us on this thread attend evangelical style of Churches that TEACH OSAS correctly.

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Titus 3:5-7 (HCSB)
5 He saved usnot by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
6 He poured out this ⌊Spirit⌋ on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
7 so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life.

Romans 4:4-5 (NET)
4 Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation.
5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.

Ephesians 2:4-5 (HCSB)
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us,
5 made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NJB)
8 Because it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith; not by anything of your own, but by a gift from God;
9 not by anything that you have done, so that nobody can claim the credit.

Romans 5:8-11 (HCSB)
8 But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!
9 Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.
10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, ⌊then how⌋ much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!
11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have now received this reconciliation through Him.

1 Peter 1:3-5 (HCSB)
3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.
5 You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Romans 11:6 (NASB)
6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.

Philippians 1:6 (HCSB)
6 I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 3:5 (HCSB)
5 ⌊It is⌋ not that we are competent in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our competence is from God.

Philippians 2:13 (HCSB)
13 For it is God who is working in you, ⌊enabling you⌋ both to desire and to work out His good purpose.

Ephesians 1:11-14 (HCSB)
11 We have also received an inheritance in Him, predestined according to the purpose of the One who works out everything in agreement with the decision of His will,
12 so that we who had already put our hope in the Messiah might bring praise to His glory.
13 When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed in Him, you were also sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.
14 He is the down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory.

2 Timothy 2:19 (ESV)
19 But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

John 10:27-28 (HCSB)
27 My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.

2 John 1:2 (HCSB)
2 because of the truth that remains in us and will be with us forever.

🕆

WE evangelicals believe OBEDIENCE is Part of AGAPE LOVE, and NEVER HAS BEEN PART OF SALVATION.
We support that idea, with these verses:

John 14:15 (NASB)
15 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

1 John 5:3 (HCSB)
3 For this is what love for God is: to keep His commands. Now His commands are not a burden,

Only when Obedience is an act of LOVE for GOD, is it not a burden.

1 John 3:14-18 (HCSB)
14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.
15 Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.
16 This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers.
17 If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his ⌊need⌋—how can God’s love reside in him?
18 Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.
Ok. Calvinism is a naughty word to you. I did not know. I am so sorry. Please forgive.

Yes, OSAS, is also called Eternal Security and Calvinism. I think we all agree on these definitions.
The bolded is a false statement concerning eternal security......and too be honest a below the belt false accusation aimed at eternal security

I am so sorry. I never meant to bump you below your belt. Please forgive.
it's ok migo....look I believe the bible absolutely sets forth eternal security and yet I disagree with the tenants of Calvinism.....so in my mind it cannot be tied to what the bible actually teaches about eternal security.......

Moot because of this.....

David loved the Lord, was a man after God's own heart, chosen by GOD, writes most Psalms, and yet committed a premeditate murder to cover up adultery and a a child....Under the law he should have been stoned to death yet GOD shows mercy and a big picture of JESUS in the fact that the INNOCENT son of DAVID took his place in DEATH <---Just as JESUS does......

YET he never lost salvation (the joy of salvation yes)
He suffered rebellion in his house
He suffered the sword in his house all the days of his life
He suffered physically with disease

ALL chastening of the LORD........

HAVE mercy on me thou SON of DAVID <---cried the old man

SALVATION is eternally secure, we cannot lose it, forfeit it, give it away.........

and yes, both are possible <---IE.....either he was never saved or he is saved and wayward yet eternally secure in his position as a son
Doesn’t answer the question. Only answers half. Is it possible such a person was never saved?

Unless your sinless, you would die in some state of sin

the penalty of sin is death period, adultry or any..
so trying to relate to one sin is a tactic of legalists, lets not go there and think we are better
If a person is in willful, habitual sin and is fine with it, is it possible that person was never saved. Not talking about other people, if a person is in habitual deliberate sin, is it possible they are deceiving themselves? Yes or no

Not talking about us judging them, talking about a person examining themselves.

It’s basic bible 101.

Not really clear

you named one sin That same person could have found victory over many other sins, we are not told, more do we know

who here does NT have a besetting sin of some type

shoud we question if you are saved because you have a besetting sin?

thats why it’s dangerous to highlight specific sins.

Ok, how about lying? If I am a habitual liar, might I be deceived about thinking I’m a Christian? Is it POSSIBLE? Not talking about positively stating it.

Reality is meaningless? That's a news flash!

Matthew 25
25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
25:42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did [it] not to one of the least of these, ye did [it] not to me.
25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment...

Ask these people if reality is meaningless.
Let us stay on point.

The story whether real or fictional is meaningless because the veracity if the Gospel stands, it is absolute universal truth >>>> the debt of sin is paid in full, a person's life is not a litmus test for the veracity of the Gospel.

If I hate my brother, might I be still in darkness rather than light?

The other possibility was «never saved». If never saved, no debt is paid.

What is your point in all this?
I just want to see how you all answer.

If the story was about me, is there a POSSIBILITY I was never saved? Can you give me a straight answer? If you can’t, why not?

Just about ANYONE can answer this question without a second thought.

And you can put any deliberate habitual sin in there that you want. They’re all the same, right?

The assurance of salvation comes from God (His Spirit bears witness to our spirit) and His Word (Promises).

A lot of people have false assurance and listen to lying spirits. Do the scriptures teach us how to identify false assurance and lying spirits?

Not saved is not saved and saved is saved.
Seems pretty clear to me.
ok, so if I Walk in a lifestyle of darkness, is it hypothetically possible I am not saved, that I am self deceived? Yes or no? Just about anyone can answer this question point blank.

Does the Bible tell us how we can know we are of the truth? Not subjective feeling but objective reality

Rephrase. If I walk in a lifestyle of deliberate, willful, and habitual darkness, is it possible I was never saved?

Not just struggling with sin, we all do that. Habitual, deliberate, lifestyle of darkness

Almost ANY OSAS proponent would say YES. I can’t think of one reputable osas teacher that would say no. Can you?
