Counterintelligence
Counterintelligence
. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Espionage- is the act of organized spying, usually with the goal of uncovering sensitive military or political information.
Lucky for us, all this information is already recorded for us to use in order to defeat the strategies of Satan. The Bible gives us all the intelligence needed in order to have a fruitful victory.
In order to take a stand, we must first know what the tactics and schemes of Satan are and what strategies he uses. When Satan was cast out of Heaven during the great rebellion (Rev 12:7-12), a third of the angelic hosts followed Satan (Rev 12:4) but in 2 Peter we see that these fallen angels are being held by chains in Hell until judgement day (2 Peter 2:4).
So, the question becomes then what is a demon and where do demons come from? Theologically, you will have different opinions on the origin of demons, but the Bible is clear that they exist and are sided with Satan (1 Tim 4:1, James 2:19, Matt 12:45).
Satan and his demon army are the occupying force in the world. The whole world lies in the power of the evil one (1 John 5:19). This world currently is in a state of fallen glory and the worldly kingdom is ruled by Satan and his army (Matt 12:22-26).
God provides us with the counterintelligence to understand the enemy’s tactics. Here is a list below.
Can Disguise himself as an Angel of light (2 Cor 11:14)
Deceiver (Rev 12:9)
Steal, kills, and destroys (John 10:10)
Lies (John 8:44)
Tempts (1 Cor 7:5)
Opportunist (Eph 4:27)
Prowler (1 Peter 5:8-9)
Trickster (Geneses 3:1, 2 Tim 2:26)
Ruler (Matt 12:22-26)
Adversary (1 Peter 5:8)
Discussion Questions
As you begin to adopt the spiritual perspective of warfare. How does this perspective prepare you for your future battles?
Out of the 10 tactics that Satan can use against you. Which tactic or tactics does he attack you the most? Begin to practice alertness and keep watch for the enemy’s movement. (Finding the areas that are weak can help us strengthen and prepare for a better defense)
We must examine ourselves and study our personal battlefields. In doing this can you predetermine Satan’s tactics to a location? A trigger? A temptation? (Understanding Satan’s tactics is one thing but locating where he is likely to strike is crucial in preparing your defense.)
