Hey Everyone,

Some friends and I were talking about the popularity of coloring books for adults, which led to some humorous ideas for a coloring book based on "Adulting" in every day life.

Obviously, we're not talking about inappropriate "adult" themes here, but rather, coloring pages based on the everyday responsibilities of being a grown-up.

If we had been given "adult" coloring books when we were kids, would we all have been in such a hurry to grow up?

Here are a few ideas that got thrown around for things that could be turned into the coloring pages of an "Adult-Themed Coloring Book:"

* The dashboard of a car with the "Check Engine" light on.

* A sink filled with dirty dishes.

* Tax forms.

* A picture of a piggy bank that is weeping profusely!

How about you? :)

What kinds of pictures would you contribute to a (family friendly) Adult-Themed Coloring Book?

not sure I get your premise.

But did you know you can 'colour in' the boxes of your spreadsheets. Hours of endless computing fun.

70,000 people, all wanting you to do something for them or listen to them talk for hours about their ailments and people they dislike.

The longest table at the local diner, where the men gather to complain about politics.

Bathroom scales with a disturbingly high number.

Rice cakes. Cases and cases of rice cakes.

37 pill bottles.

I don't know if it's like this in your country, but here in the USA, adult coloring books have been all the rage for several years.

Companies started to realize that there was an entire population of adults who resorted back to coloring as a means of relaxation (and in some cases, inexpensive therapy), so they hit the market with a whole slew of books, tools, and accessories specifically targeted towards adults who color.

You know how children's coloring books are themed around a child's life, and features pictures of their daily toys and activities, like dolls, trucks, and things from school?

This thread is just asking for your ideas of pictures and themes that we might find humorous in a coloring book geared towards our daily adult lives. :)

An express checkout with an 8 items or less sign, and 9 things on the conveyor belt.

* Piles of dirty laundry

* Going to work at the crack of down

* Buying fuel all the time (I don't actually do this that often, but it's still depressing)

This page would be closely followed by the sequel: the ornery shopper right behind this order who promptly picks up that 9th item and chucks it across the store!

(I'm sure everyone is eagerly awaiting the release of "Adult Coloring Pages: The People of Walmart Giant Edition.")

Oh wow this just made me realize that all the express checkouts are gone. A thing of the past. At least where I live.. I've been using self-checkout for years so I never noticed. :(

I work in a bookshop and...we do sell colouring books. But nobody has ever bought a boring one like you describe for children or adults. I mean if they had those pictures in it you describe we would just send it straight back to the publisher.

I have give children these colouring books...where's wally, birds, and liberty wallpaper. the colour your own wallpaper was popular.
Theres also many scripture colouring in. I have one on my wall thats of an olive tree and psalm 52.

the thing is about colouring in...theres got to be enough different colour spaces to make it really colourful.

Otherwise, its not worth colouring in if you just gonna leave it white.

I think you are missing the humour. This is supposed to be funny and it is. I am sure you are not meaning to insult Seoulsearch.

well I take my colouring books seriously...lol

Besides, when you run a library or bookshop you gotta have colouring competitions sometimes and I'm afraid boring ones just wont make the cut.

I would suggest go in for dot to dot pictures.
I know some people may lead boring lives but am not convinced making a colouring book about filing a tax return is the way forward.

Now if you organized all your tax return folders into colours of the rainbow then you might be getting somewhere.
I also would suggest if you want to line your kitchen cupboards you can use christmas wrapping paper, well mines got holly and reindeer in it, and candy cane stripes.

who says your adult life has to be boring???

zeroturbulence: Yeah I've noticed a new thread will vanish from my screen, something like 15 minutes after I post it, until it is approved.

I was going to post "Gridlock on the freeway" but zero beat me to it.

Come on, don't be so subtle. If you think the idea is boring, just tell us straight out. No need to sugar-coat it. :p

Must be hard to have such a boring life that the best you can do for entertainment is disparage people on a forum.
