How will Jesus return?
Please give Biblical references.
There are two different returns. One we are caught up to meet him in the air. (1Thes4:7) The other scripture talks about when His feet touch the ground at the Mount of Olives: "On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south." (Zechariah 14:4) Zechariah would not have had any knowledge of plate technotics as we do, to see how true this event is going to be. We read about this mount of olives return in Acts 1:11 also: "This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." Hosea 6:2 talks about a third day: "After two days He will revive us; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His presence." After two days is a reference to the 2,000 year church age that began on the day of Pentecost in the year 29 when Peter was preaching in the upper room.

There are other scriptures also that talk about this topic. For example Daniel 7:13 "I saw One like a Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven. " There is a reference to the clouds here. I believe in a secret rapture when we are caught up to be with the Lord. There will be so much disaster and confusion in the world that day so that people in the world will not know what is going on.

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
(Acts 1:11)
Jesus said,
I AM! And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.
(Mark 14:62)

Better question is where is it written that he left?

In order to return he must have left, being killed and resurrection isn't leaving, since no man has has ascended to heaven except him who came down from heaven. And heaven is that place which was created in the beginning according to Genesis 1:1

So when did Jesus ascend into heaven since it is written that after his resurrection he said to one of the disciples, "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father"
John 20-17

Later that day he appeared unto the disciples who are assembled together for fear of the Jews, and standing in the midst of them said 'Peace be unto you". And after having so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. John 20:20

And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. John 20:26

Then in appeared unto some of the disciples again in Galilee, this is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead. John 21:14

That is true the saints caught up and then Jesus coming back with the saints and Jesus stepping on the Mount of Olives where it splits and the Jews run inside the mountain to shield them from the glory of the Lord as it melts the flesh off those that are fighting against the Jews.

I was always taught that Jesus comes for His Saints or Bride to protect us from the Tribulation period when God will pour His wrath out on the world. Then we return with Jesus, after the marriage supper of the Lamb at the end of the Tribulation period.

There are people that believe that we are taken up to be with Jesus when we die so that the rapture is more individual then a group event. Recently there has been a lot of tribulation in the world. The fires in California, the Tsunami in Japan, the storms in Porta Rico. The wars in Syria that has destroyed whole cities. Now we have plagues and epidimics that people have to deal with. So I wonder if this happens in a moment of time or if all of this is spread out over a period of time.

I have been doing some sanding and I was looking for a face mask. It was very difficult to find because people have been using the dust mask to protect them from this virus. I did find one, so I guess I am not directly affected. It came close though. People were selling $5 N95 masks for $38 on the secondary market. I did have one out in my garage I can use. But people get mad at me for stocking up on stuff like that instead of waiting until we need it to buy it. Sometimes there is a thin line between a prepper and a hoarder.

Prophecy is not history in advance as many think. It gives a hint of what to expect but you only understand it after God fulfills it. So we know what it will include, but not how it will play out until after the fact.

Well said. This is often the case. Look at the first coming of Jesus as a prime example. People were expecting Him to overthrow the roman rule and give Israel back the Davidic kingdom, only ENLARGED. But Jesus came to bring with Him a spiritual kingdom that is like a mustard seed that then grows into a huge tree, spreads all over the earth, as the Gospel has.

For example Daniel 7:13 "I saw One like a Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven. " There is a reference to the clouds here.
Why is Daniel 7:13 quoted as if its talking about the second coming? Its about Jesus going UP to heaven to the Father after His resurrection.

Daniel 7:13-14
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Same power in heaven and earth as Jesus was given and said to His disciples that He had.

Jesus will return in His eternal physical body.. His feet will touch the ground on the Mount of Olives..

Scripture in Context..

Zechariah 14: KJV
1 "Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. {2} For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. {3} Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. {4} ¶ And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south."

The Angels who appeared to the Apostles told them that Jesus would return in like manor to the way he left them.. Jesus went up into heaven in His physical body..

Scripture in Context..

Acts 1: KJV
9 "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. {10} And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; {11} Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

When Jesus returns all eyes will see Him.. They will see him because He will be visible..

Revelation 1: KJV

7"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. {8} I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

I believe we shall meet Him in the Air on the day of His return and come down to earth with Him and rule the nations with Him for 1000 years.. Our eternal Home.. The New Jerusalem will come OUT of Heaven and down to us at the end of the 1000 years..

Revelation 21: KJV
1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. {2} And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. {3} And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."

The 1000 year reign is detailed in preceding chapter Revelation 20 if you want to get this above scripture in chronological context..
