The most important act a Christian can do next to reading God’s word is prayer. The scriptures are plentiful of verses commanding one to do so.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Matthew 6:6

Some Christians wonder why God is not moving mountains in the lives, and this is because they are not asking. Do you pray enough?

The Epistle of 1st Thessalonians chapter 5:16 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”

My husband prays all through the day as do I. Not long ago we were emailed by our Goddaughter's parents an Crosswalk article. We prayed regularly then however, this article really opened our eyes to the depth and breadth of what is possible with prayer throughout the day. And, from the article, this may make it easy for you and others to understand. It helped us for sure. With regard to God's teaching to pray without ceasing:
"it’s like keeping the radio playing in the background. Keep that connection open and talk to God as you go through your day. "

The article itself.

That’s an interesting way to pray continuously. Sometimes I have long prayers and sometimes I do “Bottle Rocket” prayers were I send up a bunch that are short but many.

I honestly don't think we can ever pray enough.

I know for me when life is tough and so on I pray continuously. It's just a continuous conversation with God. But when life's going good it's not like that at all and that's my failing.

I know a lot of people do this and when you think about it, it's sad how we can easily transition fr him to ourselves.

Yep. Because when things are going good, we snub God. Once things start to decline, we jump all of Him. Makes me realize what wretch I am.

So very true. I describe it as treating God like a Christmas tree. When it's going good we strap him to the roof of the car. Then when stuff goes south we scream in panic untie him and throw him in the drivers seat but keep our hand on the steering wheel just incase.

It is sort of like asking if we talk to our spouse enough.( OK I don't have one but work with me). The essence of our faith is a relationship. No one needs to be commanded to communicate within a healthy relationship. It should be our joy and at the core of who we are and are made to be. Prayer is that ongoing communication, listening and sharing. I see people who are never off of their cell phones. They walk across streets without lifting their eyes. How much more compelling is it that we have access to the Holy Wild, the great I Am and the goal is to be at a place where we live in his presence in all of the aspects of our day. No one needs to be commanded to run into the arms of a loved one or to sit quietly beside them to watch a sunset. It is a privilege. I think the key is to not let anything or anyone distract you from your true beloved. These are my thoughts.

Aside from normal prayers that I will not miss during the day, I like to meditate and confess my many faults and transgressions during the night to our Father. Last night it was given to me to understand even more profoundly

The any time we mistreat even our enemies in thought or deed, we are not hurting them, no, we are hurting our Father for not hearing His only Begotten when He taught us to love our enemies and also especially the family in Jesus, Yeshua.

Many in the forum will disagree with eache other, but we do not on one point in particular. We are all saved by the Blood of the Lamb of god, Jesus, Yeshua. We have done nothing for our salvation. We have been saved by God.

So when any here insist others are wrong in other points or in other teachings or in other denominations, it would behoove all to remind themselves that our Salvation is just as personal as our name is. God told me my road, and i KNOW FOR certain it is not the road for most. He showed it to me, and also many other roads going to the same Destination. So come into the forum armed with love, faisth and home, and you cannot miss...God bless all who believe and all who will believe Jesus, Yeshua, our blessed Savior, amen
