I was AOG for awhile. Visited several independents. WoF for a while. Saw it all.
Dave I don't know what you saw, but if it was men teaching other men to speak in tongues or teaching any of the other gifts of the Spirit, then it was fake.

Now I have seen the fake as well. It does make me sick to watch or be around the fake, but there are still people who seek God and have the genuine gifts of the Spirit. I have witnessed it and know for sure that it is real.

I notice tongues were spontaneous in Acts. But learned in Pentecostalism. And being learned led me to study their validity.

Why would these gifts not be for today? Don't you think they are needed today? Why would God give gifts and then take them back?
They were scripture until scripture became complete. You are giving your vocalizations the same weight as scripture = adding to God's word.

Amen, they are not supposed to be learned and if they are being taught in a Church somewhere (rather than coming through the Spirit), then I too would question their validity.

There are many fakes out there and not all that claims to be of God is really of God.

The gifts have not ceased. They will not cease until that which is perfect has come. Do you see anything perfect here on earth?

And I have never heard of any gifts that have added to or taken away from scripture...Here is another sign for you....If anything adds or takes away from the Word of God...It is not of God. The Spirit will always line up with the Word of God.

Three have but the rest continue. The perfect is the word of God delivered to the saints. Perfect in this context is complete.

You are adding as far as I can tell. I have many proofs that confirm this.

Is scripture perfect? Does it do a better job than Tongues? Scripture thoroughly furnishes us while tongues and prophecy only gave partial knowledge.

They are all bogus and deprive people of faith. Faith comes from hearing the word.

Paul taught the Corinthians about the gifts, because the gifts were evident there, yet not a single Corinthian believer contributed to Scripture. In other words, your position is incompatible with Scripture itself.

You are giving your vocalizations the same weight as scripture = adding to God's word.
That's the classic canard of the cessationists. It's an accusation with no evidence to support it. I have never heard of anyone who actually believes this, though I've come across the accusation many times.

What have I added to scripture? Where's your proofs?
Original tongue speakers knew what they were saying. Today's speakers do not know. It's unintelligible.

Tongues and prophecy address specific, local and personal situations. Scripture is relevant for all believers at all times.

Dave...I'm not going to keep entertaining this nonsense...You can continue to fight against the Word of God if you want or you can pray and search your heart. It's up to you.

I'm still praying for you and everyone that the Lord will enlighten us all? God knows I don't know it all and won't know it all until that which is perfect has come. Then I will know just as I am known, right.

You cannot match today's claim to the gifts to scripture. They don't match when objectively compared.

Original tongue speakers knew what they were saying.
That's also inconsistent with Scripture. Only if they also had the gift of interpretation would they know what was being said.

Today's speakers do not know. It's unintelligible.
Only if you had been present in every situation where tongues were spoken could your claim be rational. You haven't been, and it isn't.

You might want to read over it again. Check out Corinthians...There is a difference in prophecy, interpreting and speaking in tongues....just saying...

It's only imaginary. They were the same gifts the Apostles had and the same Baptism of the Holy Spirit no doubt from Paul's hands. Why did he want to visit Rome to impart spiritual gifts if they came in another way than through an apostle's hands?
