Thank you

These people forget
the only people being tested are medical people and people who are told to be test about a doctor

It is very likely the official
Could is skewed possibly up to 50% of those actually infected

They also do not realize. The reason for the call to keep people home has
Nothing to do with how many are sick it is about how many will actually need emergency care needing hospital care and this being so high our hospitals can not handle it. Imagine having to turn away people having serious injuries because our icu”s And CCU’s are full. Having to basically chose who lives and dies

Like what is happening in Italy right niw

Yet let’s open the ya back up
This is now happening at our hospital. They are out of room and choosing who lives or dies based on the odds of recovery.

I am so sorry to read this, really sad, we were told right from the start that overloading the health care system was a major concern.

Frustrating that people have their heads in the sand even still.

I'm not defending whoever claimed that the Coronavirus is at least 10x more lethal than the regular flu, however, consider that the government has essentially shut down a huge percentage of our economy in an effort to curb the spread of the virus and to my knowledge, this has never been done for the regular flu.

In essence, you're using current death rates of Corona without considering the variable of outside interference (the government shutting the economy down along with social distancing, etc...) and comparing it to the regular flu to say that it's a bogus claim.

We would have to build a flux capacitor to travel back in time and treat the Coronavirus the same as the regular flu (which is essentially do nothing) to validate OR debunk the claim that it's 10x more lethal than the regular flu.
Actually no, but we'll have to wait for the data. The seasonal flu measurments done by the CDC use October 1st as a start date and the season is said to last between 22 to 27 weeks. I'll give you some numbers.

38 to 54 million infections
18 to 26 million medical visits
400,000 to 730,000 hospitalizations
24,000 to 62,000 deaths

Those are in "in season" estimates from the CDC for the flu. Again, these are based on about 6 months worth of data....while with coronavirus we only have about 9 weeks worth of information. With that being said, coronavirus is said to be more easily transmitted than the seasonal flu....so the social distancing and other measures being taken in response to Covid-19 should also have a positive (lowering) impact on the flu.

For Coronavirus these are the latest stats I'm seeing reported by CBS news:

Over 142,000 infections
Nearing 2,500 deaths

I'm not seeing numbers for medical visits or hospitlizations however, here's the link:

https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/coronavirus-disease-covid-19-latest-news-2020-03-29/

And here's the link for the CDC information:

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burde...pmraK2yOnzPtoG6WhsYphGlGoC36bAxCtYnzgE5scHM9c

Thanks for the discussion Smoke, I much prefer exchanges that centre on known facts and hard reputable data, as opposed to speculation laced with hyperbole. God Bless

As of 11 AM this morning, Florida is reporting 5473 (5,276 residents) total positive cases, 652 hospitalizations, and 63 deaths. There were 903 new cases reported yesterday. The new case growth curve is still exponential and expected to continue in that direction for at least two more weeks. Testing results processing time is between 24 and 48 hours.

These numbers are updated around 11 AM and 6 PM EDT.

That hurricane example is excellent, thank you....I think most everyone has seen a forecast like you describe. Typically there's a wide band showing the range...and the reporters stress how 'this is based strictly on modelling and can change day to day, hour to hour'. I've never seen a weather forecast where the announcer said "we're certain" or even 99% sure.

Contrast that with the coronavirus, where we were told that covid-19 was "at least" 10x more deadly than the seasonal flu. Stated with certainty and conviction. And because it was at least 10x more deadly than the flu the United States could anticipate at least 1.1 million deaths to over 2 million depending on mitigation efforts and their success....best case scenario was 1.1 million.

I don't think anyone is expecting deaths to reach those levels now....Dr Fauci has seriously dialed it back saying deaths "could" reach 100 to 200K. Hopefully even that prediction is way off the mark and the actual death toll is no worse than the seasonal flu....I'm praying that's the case.
Worldometers says there have been 565 new deaths in the US today (March 31, 2020, 01:14 GMT), with 19,999 new cases.

US now up to 3,148 deaths as I type this, we shall see if it gets to the levels seen during a bad flu season which would be ~61,000.....wonder why the media never makes a huge sensational deal about the flu, which is particularily deadly among infants....13 pediatric deaths just this year from influenza in Florida alone.

I looked at that report, what is in bold is regional for Florida there was one, total 13 at that point in the season nation wide.

One new influenza-associated pediatric death was reported. Thirteen influenza-associated pediatric deaths have been reported so far this season; the majority these deaths were children who were not vaccinated for the 2019-20 season.

there’s quite a bit of issues on infant mortality ahead than the flu for infants, one of them is sudden death syndrome is up there and the medical field still has no idea what causes that.

Obviously no children at all have been vaccinated for cornovirus, and yet Florida has 0 deaths from covid-19.....there's only been one reported pediatric death worldwide from coronavirus.

Do what Florida as of today has 71 from coronavirus, and yes Florida doesn’t have a issue with the flu not much compared to other states, 2018 was high in infant mortality 187 nation wide among the 61,000

because of the numbers that is a fact not a propaganda, I haven’t seen any media deliberately scaring people what are you seeing that is scary propaganda?

sadly there are threads here using low numbers to push a propaganda I’ve already seen that.

I'm not a big Trump fan....sometimes he does deserve to be criticized, all politicans should be able to accept criticism, but Trump's skin is tissue paper thin. But you're right, a lot of the time the criticism is over the top and at times outright fraudulent....if this outbreak ends up being no worse than a bad flu season they won't give him credit for his foresight.
""...all politicans should be able to accept criticism, but Trump's skin is tissue paper thin""

That has to be the folly of the year.
No president EVER has had to withstand the level of opposition, lies, false fairy tale charges, smears, investigation after investigation, and kept as composed and functional as PRESIDENT Trump.
Your statement is laughable.

Huh?
Their very heart and soul is using fake pictures, nurse actresses, and as much fake everything they can think up.
They feed the sheeple propaganda 24/7.
I trust nothing they say.
I watched the fakery last night. Nurses crying and adding to the "apocalyptic " end of life as we know it.

That is the MSM message.

Show me a news clip of "98% recover and go on."
Huh?
You mean most recover?

I'm very disappointed in MSM outlets and their reporting of the Covid-19 pandemic, not surprised, but still disappointed.

As I write this we're being told that the number of dead in Italy is fast approaching the 10,000 mark. Okay....but is that bad? Not if you compare it to the death toll of the 2016/2017 flu season. According to the International Journal of Infectious Diseases almost 25,000 Italians died from the flu during that influnza season. So deaths from Covid-19 will have to more than double for this pandemic to reach the level of a bad flu season.

I was going to give up social media posting during lent, but this pandemic has resulted in my me pretty much house bound like everyone else. I'm complying with all the social distancing and other protocols being put in place, if I visited friends and family right now like I would otherwise do I'd be tarred and feathered because people are being driven to near panic.

That 25,000 death figure for Italy's 2016/2017 is from a reputable scientific source...not Alex Jones or David Icke or anything like that. The IJID did a study which tried to determine why flu related cases and deaths were so much higher in Italy than in other European nations. Their conclusions match what experts are saying about why Coronavirus is so deadly in Italy. Italy has the oldest population in Europe, both by average and median age, and the highest percentage of smokers. Everyone is saying that Covid is worse than the flu, I doubt that. And when it comes to infants influenza is actually far more dangerous.

I'll end this post with a Covid-19 joke.....hmmmm, most of you won't get it :)

This would be wrong completely.
But then you seem to prefer to make faulty comparisons.
I wonder why the Spanish Flu killed so many people after all it was actually was just a flu?
From the ap Saturday:
The Illinois health department has announced the first known infant death from Covid-19 in the state."

nurse actresses, so I guess you read of accounts of that has happened, I’m not talking about hear say, got any proof what you say is happening or is that all in the mind?

I would like to see your info on the using nurse actresses, fake pictures etc. is there a movie set or something?

I have heard of a news media showing empty shelves yet at that time early on and that wasn’t right at all I will agree a couple of news outlets are about ratings no matter what but not all of them.

that bogus setup was done awhile ago but the funny thing is I see it today in the stores it isn’t bogus today.

200,000 dead from coronavirus seems far fetch like empty shelves doesn’t it. truth is no one knows unlike the flu it’s pretty predictable even the deaths from it. I think that is the main point it’s unknown what this will do it has mutated into a different strain there are two now, will it get deadly and deadly through mutation who knows, The second mutation is little worse
