It is hard not wanting to panic people and yet wanting to disseminate accurate information
I just think other eastern cultures like Japan, South Korea etc., are more able to act without panic, again it comes down in part to that social cohesion and experience, which sadly is missing right now in the USA.
Really sad to watch a country come apart like it is... maybe this can be a catalyst for good, we shall see.
My country in America was a recipe for something bad. Think about it. Our main news outlets are left leaning with 1 right wing. I fall under conservative beliefs so left wing media has largely been attacking anything I believe. We since the 80s have had increasing media bias and it is increasingly hard to sort fact from fiction.
Then came the internet and social media. With millions of average folks being amateur journalists or news people. Not knowing how to check sources, research, cross examine evidence, and have the ability to seek the truth out. Which is still hard to do even for the professionals when news is constant 24/7, always changing and sources are not accurately examined as in studying the statistics, the professionals, medical studies, etc.
So much information and not enough understanding. Not enough truth. Or even if it was truth, we are hesitant to believe it. Reminds me of Pilate who asks Jesus What is truth?
Past fear mongering like crying out we will all die in 10 years to climate change is like the boy who cried wolf. Even if the evidence supports that claim, most the world would laugh. Just as our country did before the virus. So many jokes about it but as we see now, people are less comical.
