by our nation's laws, yes, it can.

if i divulge state secrets as though a spy, or if i violate any non-disclosure agreement, i'm not covered by 'free speech' -- you can be jailed or fined for inciting a riot any day of the week, or for trespassing, or printing libel / defamation of character, 1st amendment notwithstanding.

quarantine restrictions are not directly targeting churches; they involve all kinds of gatherings.
Church gatherings are specifically spelled out in the 1st amendment.

Peter and the other Apostles say that we should obey God's law, rather than man's law, Acts 5.
doesn't He say, 'where two or more are gathered' ?

so does it have to be 50 or 100 or 500 before it is '
church' ?
i mean, in China under actual persecution they have had, and do have still, 'house churches' with only a handful meeting at a time. are they wrong not to meet in large groups? they know they will be caught and arrested for doing so - and there it is specifically because of the gospel not a temporary blanket restriction on all gatherings of a particular size. isn't that this?

A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished.
(Proverbs 22:3)
a place near me has been having 'drive-through' services for the last two weeks. everyone stays in their parked cars while the pastor violates the noise ordinance on big speakers set up out in the lot ((lol)). what do you think of that? i considered to go this past weekend but my wife thought it was silly. i think she was right, that i was really only interested in the novelty of it.

church gatherings are not specifically spelled out in the temporary recommendations that we all avoid any and all kinds of groups of 10 people or more. i don't think there's a constitutional argument to be made here, at all.

i do think you have a point about what the implications of being told en masse not to congregate in anything other than small groups -- just that it's not a thing targeting church gatherings in particular, just like prohibition wasn't targeting churches when the law said wine couldn't be used for communion.

What constitutes a better testimony for Christ? Setting an example and not holding meetings as the government declares or resisting government and later being seen as a source of the virus spreading?

Each must act according to their conscious before the Lord. I'm not concerned so much with Christians dying but if they infect unbelievers who die and enter into eternal condemnation well that's a problem. Believers die and go into the presence of Christ but unbelievers die and enter into eternal condemnation.

Which is the better testimony?

good point Roger,
should we be seen as lawbreakers?
should we be saying God can only be worshiped in a particular building with a steeple?

is it because if we're not in a big group we don't have the loud music and the choir or worship band drowning out our own atonal singing, lol

you are not really listening

I do not think it expedient on my part to listen to those who wish to have everyone listen to them with no actual exchange

as for your referenced site above:

BitChute is a video hosting service founded in 2017. It was created to allow video uploaders to avoid content rules enforced on other platforms, such as YouTube.[2] The platform accommodates far-right individuals and conspiracy theorists;[8] with the Southern Poverty Law Center saying the site hosts "hate-fueled material".[9] Some creators who have been banned or had their channels barred from receiving advertising revenue ("demonetized") on YouTube have migrated to BitChute.[3]
At launch, the site described itself as using peer-to-peer WebTorrent technology.[2] As of November 2019, The Daily Dot questioned whether end-user peer-to-peer sharing was actually in use.[10]

yeah

not so much

suppose my neighbor is blasting polka music on his stereo at 2am, and there's a noise ordinance.
suppose i get upset and start blasting gospel music out my own window.
suppose another neighbor alerts the police -- when they come and give us both fines, am i being religiously persecuted?

I actually did that once...during the day though

neighbors behind us were blasting their brand of noise...after getting drunk...and passed out in their backyard...so I cranked up some music...not Christian, but instrumental...whatd'ya know...volume on the other side of the fence diminished

so glad we live out in the country with respectful neighbors

Whom the Lord loves, he chastens. God does not chasten some people. Psalms 73:5, They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they PLAGUED (divinely punished) like other men. God judges his children as they live their lives here on earth and reserves his judgement for those who are not his children at the last day judgement. Matt 25:34-46, (34) Then shall the King say unto them 0n his right hand, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. (41) Then shall he say also unto them on his left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. When I was young, my neighbor kids and I would do something we should not have been doing and my father would give me a whipping, but he would not whip the neighbor kids, because they were not his children. God works in the same manner, chastening his children, but not the ones that are not his children.
Psalms 73:3 For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. (16-17) When I thought to know this, it was to painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

well, the kind of reason you and I appreciate certainly is....not to mention caring about others

and then we have the valley of the conspiracy theory given as a source for 'truth'

you can't make this nonsense up

I respectfully disagree.
Okay, then count the number of posts in the first 80-odd that actually discuss biblical topics as opposed to American-only topics. Explain how American politics are biblically relevant to anyone living outside the USA.

But what if you kill thousands unnecessarily?
Where is your faith in God? The 3 Hebrew children prayed to God when they were told by the king not to, and they said that God would save them, either from the fire of the furnace, or buy the deliverance of death into heaven.

Faith VS stupidity? Faith keeps me in just as it did the Jews on Passover.

interesting article on conspiracy theorists...that is, those who cling to their youtube vids or other questionable sources for the whole truth and nothing but the truth

this is actually a personal trait ... a person does not just wake up one day and decide to clock out from believing anything but conspiracies

one of the main traits is a desire to control their own anxiety, thereby creating the illusion of personal security

peoples brains are wired differently
