Hey Everyone,

With most people "sheltering in place" and socially distancing from one another, DIY (Do It Yourself) projects have become a big thing -- why not extend that to matchmaking? :) And so, without further ado, I present to you, The Singles Forum Do It Yourself Matchmaking Thread! The idea here is for people to share about themselves to the extent that they are comfortable, then learn about others with the hope of creating a greater sense of community here.

If you see someone in the thread that you would like to get to know, I hope you'll pray about it and, if given peace, will go ahead and contact that person. :) I'm not sure what the current cost is to be able to PM someone, as it gets updated from time to time, but I think it's $25? (For those of you who know what the current rules are, please give us the scoop.) I realize this is a challenge for many people (especially during the pandemic), but on the flip side, it's less expensive than dating sites or a real-life outing. You might also be able to visit that person's profile and leave a note on their message wall if their settings allow it.

Feel free to "talk" to each other in the thread as well -- ask questions, make comments, joke and banter back and forth. :) This thread is hopefully all about having some fun and meeting some awesome people. No pressure, no obligation, and if nothing else, maybe you'll make a new friend. :)

When I wrote in my original matchmaking brainstorming thread about having a 3-thread series in which the 2nd thread would help let us know what we had to work with, this is an edited version of what I had in mind. Hopefully this thread will be as inclusive as possible because it's strictly up to you whether you want to participate or not. This way it won't become a matter of who remembers whom to match them up with someone -- everyone can be part of this, and to the extent that they choose.

If you'll give me just a minute, I'm going to start by creating a poll of people's interests. The old system allowed for something like 40 options, but I think this one only allows for something like 15 (we're about to find out!), which is why I'll have to lump some categories together and the options might seem to fall short. But this also creates the perfect opportunity for YOU to tell us what you enjoy and why! The poll will be multiple choice and open, which allows people to see your name next to the options you've chosen. Please be sure to post as well as checking off your answers!

In addition to the poll, I will also create a list of ideas for general information to share -- keep in mind though that the entire internet can see this, so for safety reasons, I would suggest not giving away anything too personal here in the thread.

Just give me a little bit of time, as I'm going to write the poll first and then write a list of "Introductions" in a separate post here to make it easier for people to copy, paste, and answer on their own.

I'm hoping that these two formats (a poll and list of questions/ideas) will be helpful to a wide number of people in expressing themselves, because I know we're all different and have different styles of communicating.

Hope you all enjoy this and let's have some Christian fun and fellowship. :)

Ok, and now for a list of questions and ideas to help get us talking to each other. Please do not feel pressured -- I know that for many people, shyness and not knowing what to say can be a crippling fear, so if you see something on this list you're not sure how to answer, just condense your reply into a few descriptive words.

For example, if asked how you feel about something, instead of giving a long explanation (which people are welcomed to do), others might just to just describe their feelings in a few word: "Cautious, but open-minded."

These are only suggestions. You can copy, paste, and answer as few or as many as you'd like, or just say what you'd like to say without using any of these ideas at all. :) That's why this is the Do-It-Yourself Thread -- you get to choose what you want to do! Feel free to add or subtract as many topics as you want.

Discussion Ideas/Helpful Information:

1. Name/What You Want to Be Called:

2. Location (you don't have to be specific; remember, anyone can see this), and Would You Be Willing to Relocate?

3. Number of Children:

4. Pets (what kinds and what are their names?):

5. How Long Have You Been Saved? Church Denomination, if you care to share?

6. Looking For Friendships or Romance, or Both?

7. Career, Hobbies, Interests? (Expand upon what you answered in the poll.)

8. What Do You Have to OFFER Someone Else? (Whether a friend or a significant other -- why might they be interested in you?)

9. What Are You Looking For in A Friend and/Or Romantic Partner?

10. Do You Think You Could Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? Why or why not?

Hope you all have fun with this! (I'll answer these questions myself in another post.)

Can't wait to see your answers. :)

(Helpful tip for newcomers: When looking at the poll, click on the blue numbers to be able to see who answered which selections.)

If you have any questions about how to participate, post, etc., just ask, and we'll try to help as much as we can. :)

Discussion Ideas/Helpful Information:

1. Name/What You Want to Be Called: Seoul :) I give my name out as I get to know people better on a one-to-one basis.

2. Location (you don't have to be specific; remember, anyone can see this), and Would You Be Willing to Relocate? USA (more details after I know someone well and for a long time); and yes, I would consider moving, depending on the situation.

3. Number of Children: None, but I do have nieces and nephews. :)

4. Pets (what kinds and what are their names?): 4 adorable ceramic, floating goldfish: Sam & Frank (in one bowl) and Penelope and... not sure yet... Francesca? (I'm open to ideas for another girl's name) in another. I'm allergic to fur, fluff, feathers, and dander (but admit to having a weakness for cats and a few dogs who are calm, sweet, and friendly.)

5. How Long Have You Been Saved? Church Denomination, if you care to share? I am adopted and my Mom always says they had me in the pews the first week they got me (I must have looked like I needed a LOT of reforming!) I spent most of my childhood/young adulthood in the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod), another 15 or so in an Assemblies of God church, attended Methodist and Baptist churches when I was far from home, and now gravitate towards non-denominational (but still Biblically sound, of course.)

6. Looking For Friendships or Romance, or Both? Whatever God may have in mind. :) I've made many friendships on this site and hope that will never stop.

7. Career, Hobbies, Interests? (Expand upon what you answered in the poll.) My primary hobby right now is personal correspondence, reading/watching documentaries, and things like these threads. I haven't been to a theme park in years but it's on my list for if or when life gets back to normal. If I had my way, I would NEVER outgrow roller coasters! I also like movies (action, martial arts, sci fi -- because they reflect my real-life romances -- explosive, defensive, and full of things that were somewhat fictional.)

8. What Do You Have to OFFER Someone Else? (Whether a friend or a significant other -- why might they be interested in you?) Responsibility, Loyalty, Emotional Support, A Heart That Never Stops Seeking God.

9. What Are You Looking For in A Friend and/Or Romantic Partner? The same general qualities I listed above, as well as enough compatible interests and even differences to make life interesting, but yet harmonious.

10. Do You Think You Could Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? Why or why not? Heck yes. Not only have I worked retail (which is a jungle in and of itself), but I've also escaped perilous romances, written a few threads, and navigated the craziness of these forums since 2009. Succumbing to a mere, puny Zombie Apocalypse after surviving all of that? Not on my watch, sweetheart!

Just out of curiosity...

Is that a giant roll of toilet paper in your avatar? (Top right?)

If so, be sure to list that as one of the things you have to offer. :D

These days, after finding the shelves empty for 2 months, it's one of the hottest commodities a person would be willing to share.

Hmmmm I have to think about what to write for answers but I can say that I have plenty of toilet paper. Our shelves have been restocked in the last few days and nobody is buying so I was able to stock up. Think I might be quite popular now :LOL:

I’ve been a member of CC for awhile. I haven’t made a lot of friends but I’m thankful for the few I made. Perhaps it’s because all of the friendly people are hanging out in the singles forum. Before I go any further, is this intrusive, since I’m married?

Today I will be landing and rolling trusses on a house in Idaho. Its gonna be loud, obnoxious, kinda
dangerous, and fulfilling. there will be yelling, MUCH cursing some confusion and a whole lotta
whoop #$%# !!!!!
Then I'll come home, read somthin, drink some beer, play a lil guitfiddle listen to music ( which leads to playing
more guitar), sit in my new (to me) truck and wonder who will be sitting next to me in aforementioned truck where
will we be sitting, and when will we.

Posted elsewhere, but here I am again. Never married, no children. Middle Aged, a loner, very independent. Dont own a house, debt free, love road trips, holidays, coffees in the park talking to the ducks. I sew, knit, a small amount of gardening, very affectionate, been with the lord since primary school. Have had a few long term relationships with older woman, two who were rescues. I am retired early, so have plenty of free time, which is a real blessing.

Seoul Thank you (for myself and all our CC singles) for taking the helm!!!
I'm currently teleworking and saw this thread and was compelled (yes - I can be a bit compulsive) to provide a brief answer before I am able to take time to respond to the questions - as a means so I can discipline myself to get back to work... haha...

Got me thinking, that people may/may not want to know more about each others personality types - merely as additional insights about potential matches... Not intended as a means of binning/matching similar or discerning dis-similar personality types - just more information - where more is better than less as it pertains to helping folks to make more informed decisions...
For example I am an INFJ: INFJ (introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging) is one of the 16 personality types identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Sometimes referred to as the "Advocate" or the "Idealist," people with INFJ personalities are creative, gentle, and caring.

For @seoulsearch and everyone here "what is your personality type?" :)

I think we’ll have to start a couples forum and solicit friendships in there. It might not be as fun. Probably just people complaining about their spouses.

Actually, you have quite the dating profile resume.

I believe that when I remarried over 5 years ago I was the one who got rescued. I was definitely in bad shape that's for sure. My wife took quite a risk in consenting to marry me but it appears to be paying dividends all because she saw the potential in me.

In prospective relationships there are many factors and variables to consider but if you really desire a loving enduring intimate romantic relationship eventually you must take a calculated risk and let the dice fly from your hand. It's all in the wrist (risk).

I just realized i am in the singles forums and thread :ROFL::ROFL:
That's alright. Even though I am married most of my posts are in the Singles forum because it's a fun and relaxed place to be to experience genuine Christian fellowship. Basically, I come here for the coffee and donuts.
