you know, to a Jew like John who wrote this book, the OT doesn't have 39 books; it has 24. it was written on 24 scrolls.

24 + 27 = 51

one captain & his 50, btw, ((re: 2 Kings 1)) = 51

so how do i know you're not a 6 adding to the 51 by saying there are 66 books in the Bible?

does 57 mean anything to you?
There were 66 decorations on the candlestick in Exodus. What does the candlestick represent? It represents the light of the world, the word of God. 66 is the number for the word of God in the Bible, I didn’t make it up, it just is. Just like the number 6 is the number of man, 66 is the number for the word of God.

I didn’t realize that people didn’t understand this.

where does the Bible say that?
Genesis 1-2?
if that's where you get it, wouldn't that be more accurately 6 is the number of the day of man's creation, not 6 = man?
can i go through Revelation and cross 'six' out every time i see it, and replace it with 'man' ?

i'm not aware of any Hebrew tradition of the menorah representing the written scripture, but i am aware of it representing Christ.

And ask the gentleman to please make sure to use the original Hebrew text!
And he had better crosscheck the Masoretic with the LXX just to be safe.

yes, God's wisdom and understanding surely doesn't come easy, for The Holy Spirit has
special requirements that we all must put our hearts and minds to, to the MAX, and when
we realize this, and start being able to do part, then our hearts rejoice/leap
for yet another realizing of just how much He really Loves us...

Is it saying that some will receive the mark and not worship the beast? And in that case they can escape eternal damnation? I understood the mark as a form of worship so I'm having trouble wrapping my head around this--not that I've ever studied it in depth so my understanding can be wrong.
We should be careful on how we hear. I would agree with your conclusion

All men are born liars with the mark of Cain. The mark of a atheist'. Mankind, with no God in his heart also called a fool.

That word number 666 is assigned as the number of those born of the flesh associated with our first birth .Being born separated from God like any other beast of the field.

The mark that reveals the religious foundation (no faith) no rest that comes with those sealed in the forehead like Abel the first recorded martyr and apostle. Abel believed and bought the truth of the God's word .Cain would have nothing to do with the living abiding word. Cain the marked man took Abel in the field plowed him under .Out of sight out of mind . no faith required. Esau like Cain saw no value in the things not seen sold his birth rite for a cup of chili

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

The mark isn’t a physical mark, it isn’t even a literal mark, it is a CHARACTERISTIC.
You might want to look up the definition of the Greek word that was translated into the word 'mark' before getting too deep into this...

According to verse 9 it will not.

Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

Rev 14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Rev 14:11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
The real question you should ask is, "During the Tribulation, can one believe in Jesus, say in year 1, but take the mark in the future, say year 3, because he is rich and wants to buy and sell stuff?"

If the answer is yes, will he be saved? Does salvation during the tribulation become faith + works?

I have discussed this before here https://christianchat.com/bible-dis...-is-it-still-faith-only-for-salvation.185801/

The mark eternal cannot be a literal mark. When the flesh returns to the clay of the field it loses it abillty to idenfy outwardly.

By walking by faith. Those who walk by sight make signified unseen understanding to no effect. .

It would seem clear "mark my word" as to the letter of the law death is the result of not given a new born again spirit. Not because someone found a tattoo shop or some electronic devise. We walk by faith the eternal not seen not after the letter of the law as in; Mark my word it is law. If Christ informed Cain he must surfer the wage sin death which was more that Cain or any man could bear .

The hope of God would not be cut of by men who walk by sight seeking after literal signs . No sign as a wonder was given . the last was the sign of Jonah. Christs fulfilled it. We walk by faith like Abel

The foundation of the doctrine (Genesis 4)

When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear. Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me. And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Genesis 4;12-25

The same kind of mark my word .You shall surely die by sufferings the wage of hell . Not sufferings because the power of a battery has run out or a person is out of food or they lost a literal image from their head or hand (used to represent the will of mankind). .

i'm saying that despite what's printed in your paper copy of the KJV,
the scripture does not say "
666" and it doesn't say "six hundred sixty-six"

the scripture says "χξς" which AFAIK is representative of "600, 60, 6" in English.
It doesn't matter if I use the number 666, six hundred threescore and six orχξς , they all point to the same number 666. Your acting as if the Greek doesn't contain the 666.

Why does the number 8 mean new beginnings? It just does, it's borne out in scripture.

If you're truly interested in what the number 6 means, watch this video. He does a good job explaining it.

All we have to do is believe what is written exactly as it is written... that's the only way to truth.

Thanks for the warning GaryA.

Is the mark figurative or literal. Is IN the right hand figurative or literal. Or do chose ON the right hand?
  1. a stamp, an imprinted mark
    1. of the mark stamped on the forehead or the right hand as the badge of the followers of the Antichrist
    2. the mark branded upon horses
  2. thing carved, sculpture, graven work
    1. of idolatrous images
