I read somewhere that the divorce rates of those who professed to be Christians versus non-believers was about the same, but that Christians who regularly prayed together had a divorce rate of about 1% or less than 1%. I don't think it was just a quote from someone. I know of Barna surveys of the high divorce rate, but does anyone know of a source for the 1% divorce rate. I assume this is a US population, since Christians in some countries have much lower divorce rates, as should be the case for all of us.

I don't think that I've ever seen a poll that showed a 1% divorce rate among Christians. Either Barna or Pew did a study a handful of years ago that showed a 50% + divorce rate among persons who "claim" to be Christian but once they broke it down to persons who "claim" to be Christian and are regularly active in a church body the numbers were (if my memory is accurate) around 20%.

I seem to recall the 1% was a poll at some kind of Christian conference, so I don't know how professional it was. It would be a good topic for a Barna poll.

praying everyday or just once a week?
Some polls dont have big sample sizes so...statistics are often quoted to prove anything.

The 1% thing was apparently a survey of one conference of over 1000 people, and there was one divorce. This was not peer reviewed, and it is possible that there is a threat to validity if we want to extend this to the general population, because the attendance of the conference could be different in some systematic way. Maybe divorced people stayed away from such conferences for some reason.

But still, if that's true, that' s a big group. It seems worthy of future research.
