One thing you can do is to "bookmark" a post by clicking on the symbol immediately to the left of the '#' that is part of the post number indicator in the upper-right corner of the post across from the date of the post.

If you know the user name and key words in the post you can use the search function (small magnifying glass icon to the far right of your avatar at the top of every page). That will (or could) produce a page displaying a series of posts made by that particular user with the key words specified. When you find the post, click the number of the post in the right hand corner of the post. That changes the url so that when you copy it into your message, anyone who clicks it will be taken directly to that post and not just the page the post is on. You can create a link using the icon above each message box between the Font size and Insert image icons. That allows the link to be short instead of a long url. You can call it anything you like, example: My Testimony (partial). <- that is a link :)

Another way would be to search your own post stream/content, if the post you are looking for is recent, for any such search will only produce a maximum of 200 posts, over ten pages of 20 posts per page. The more unique the word you are searching for the better, as that will narrow down considerably the amount of results you get :) You can also use the same search function without entering any member name ;)

Perhaps you should create a section in your browser bookmarks to store links to individual posts?

To tell you the truth,If I knew how to that I'm sure It would probably be doable here as well, lol but I am not very good with the computer stuff.
Do you save some post here,I was wondering?I don't have things stored here but I am going to start learning though little by little.☺️

Your browser should have a star or some icon on the upper right hand side, hover over each icon beside the url address and a little message should appear telling you the function of that particular icon. When I hover over the little star, the message says "Favorites." So clicking that will save the page you are on, which you can name whatever you choose, and access in future by clicking the three little dots on the far right, which presents a drop down with many options, one of which is "Favorites." Hopefully these three screenshots will help, though this is not the only way, and another way may be preferable (such as creating a folder in your documents on your computer where you save links to threads), but you may like this way better :)

this is what i think you are asking if you can do / how you can do:

make a list of posts ((not threads)) that you can later easily look through and quote from.

i do not think you can do this from the forum itself. you can bookmark threads, but not individual posts.

if you're using a laptop or desktop, i would suggest using something like 'microsoft onenote' or something, where you can type notes for yourself. when you see a post you want to hang onto, hit "reply" on that post -- it will put the post formatted with quote tags into the new reply box. copy all that, and paste it into your note-taking program.

then you'd have a list saved you can look at & copy-paste into the forum. it wouldn't be in the forum itself, tho.

this would be finicky to do on a phone -- not impossible or anything it's just kinda a pain to copy/paste text on a tiny screen using finger gestures instead of a mouse or touchpad.

i'll put some screenshots in my next post how that would work..

I just tested this :D If you click the number given on the upper right hand side of any post, it changes the url to direct right to that post and not just the page it is on :) It is best to click that number when saving links to posts (in a document) also so it goes right to the post desired and not just the page. Every single post has a unique number attached to it ;)

to make a list of posts you might want to quote later:

say i want to hang on to this post -- i hit "reply":

1.JPG

the website takes me to the 'add reply box' with the post i wanted to save filled in.
i copy all this ((hit ctrl+a to select all, ctrl+c to copy, or highlight it, right click and press copy))..

2.JPG

then i open one-note or really anything like notepad, word, etc that lets me create and save a text document..
i just happen to like notepad because it automatically saves and i find it easy to work with. google keep does the same thing.

3.JPG

in onenote i made a new tab and titled it with something descriptive. then i just paste into the text editor:

4.JPG

and that's it.
i can keep adding all the posts i want to keep to that tab in the onenote program, and if i want to quote it in another thread a month from now, i go find it there, copy, and paste into the thread i want to put it in.
one neat thing about onenote is that it automatically put a link to where i had copied the text from -- so i can go back and see the context of the post i copied. other programs do that too but not all of them. any program where you can

with the quote tags copied like that, when i paste it into a thread in the forum it will have the regular link-back to where it was originally posted and who said it :)

this may not be what you were hoping for but maybe it's useful . . ?

yes :)

sometimes i do things like say, "you can find that in this post" and copy the link by right-clicking on the post # and selecting 'copy link address..
then i go to where i wrote "this post" and highlight those two words, then click the 'link' icon. the words i have highlighted are automatically filled in as 'link text' and i paste the copied link address in the GUI.

:)

i hadn't thought of that until i saw Gary suggest keeping a folder of bookmarked posts.
one thing about that tho is you won't know what the posts say until you open the bookmarks, unless you go through the trouble of naming them descriptively, right? which is a lot of work IMO if you're going to have a very big list of posts to save.

making a spreadsheet of them, you could scroll through and scan them to more easily find the one you want.

Hello,

I really appreciate the tips given here.

Maybe this has been mentioned already, but this newer version of CC does allow you to bookmark individual posts. I'm sorry I can't give the wonderful pictorial directions that Magenta and posthuman are giving, but if you look at the right hand corner of the post, there is the post number and a small, "upside-down flag" right next to it.

If you click on that "flag", it will give you an option to bookmark the post and even make a note about it. I'm not sure what the "Sticky" function is (maybe it saves that post at the top of your bookmarks?) but the public function makes it either viewable to just you, or to anyone that is able to check your profile.

Then if you go to your profile, there should be a bookmark option among the list of all the other things in your profile such as "Media" and "About."

There should be a bookmark listing as well, which will then display your marked posts in pages.

Hope this helps... Sorry I don't know my way around technology enough to be able to post pictures with arrows or circles. :(

Yes, and you could have separate folders named by topic and/or by user name, and if you remember a key word in any post, using the search function (ctrl + F) on the document page will help you quickly find the post you are looking for. I do save particular topics in my favorites' browser bar, especially when they are subjects which come up again and again and I want to find the page I have used in the past to answer, as looking for it again using a search engine may prove to be tedious or even unproductive, because sometimes pages fall way down the list, or disappear over time. For the record, I have never kept a list of any one person's pertinent or objectionable posts in a document, though I have been tempted to a few times over the years :giggle::geek::oops::geek::giggle: It just seems like a lot of work ;):D

My apologies for editing your post to just this, but that site option seems to be very limited in the amount of posts that can be saved that way  Unless I am wrong ;) I only have three links there and could not add any more

And you are welcome :)
