No one has to prove their innocence (although they do) the burden of proof is on the prosecution... they must have sufficient evidence to prove intent and knowledge.

  • (a) buys, receives or offers to buy or receive counterfeit money;
  • (b) has in their custody or possession counterfeit money; or
  • (c) introduces counterfeit money into Canada.

So what would be your lawful justification or excuse, ignorance?

Sorry but I got to give you a big ole FAIL since you have to prove you have a lawful justification or excuse or you are guilty. That is Guilty till proven Innocent.

You really do not understand the law and the language it is written in... obviously there is no point to continue this dialogue.

A reversal of the onus of proof is used in very special cases where prosecution would be difficult otherwise.

These are typically cases where charges are very infrequent or the police would not be able to lay charges.

It is deemed justifiable in some cases to reverse the onus of proof ... Canada is not the only country with a few laws like this in the on the books.

And it does mean they are denied due process, only a shift in proving the case.

Since grocery stores in Minneapolis are required by City Code to have a working surveillance camera affixed inside the establishment that records the frontal view of persons entering their establishment during business hours, then in lieu of answering this question you can simply post the footage of George Floyd entering the Cup Foods grocery store shortly before 7:57 pm on May 25, 2020

While I didn't find any footage of Mr. Floyd entering the store, I did find footage of the store owner in an on-air interview with the Turkish news agency TRT confirming the interviewers statement that he has surveillance footage from his store (LINK).

So those who think they know that Mr. Floyd entered that store doesn't suggest that they are racist or a bigoted, it is just evidence of their onus.
