I believe the spirit of Christ is my new nature and therefore I have been able to function in it. To live in it, walk by it, and be in it. When I finally figured this out is when the lights turned on. Most of my life I believed I was in a battle between what I thought was my old man fighting against what I thought was my new man. Now I'm not fighting. I moved right in the darn thing. It seems to me one cannot walk in or by the spirit if our old nature (which is dead) thinks it's fighting against our new nature.

Last night is when I took the red pill that released me from the Matrix. Being in Christ is not what I was taught, meaning that you are in fellowship, which means you are walking upright with your flesh. I now understand being in Christ is being in the spirit and neither of them (in Christ or in the spirit) has anything to do with the darn flesh.

It now seems perfectly clear to walk in or by the spirit is the same as putting on the Lord Jesus Christ. It's the same as having fellowship with Jesus Christ, which is also part of having the mind of Christ. Living in Christ is the same as being strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. There's a verse where Jesus says without me you can do nothing. Well, I'm never without him.

Yes, now your job is to renew your mind to what is already true in your spirit.

If you view yourself as a Trinity, which is spirit soul and body, a third of you is now perfect. How you renew your mind, which is in the soul, will determine how your body ultimately responds.

We do not agree.
I wonder if what is written in Romans goes without saying because the culture of the time just knew that the renewed mind can only be done in the spirit as we see in Ephesians.

Perhaps it's not...
be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.

But rather...
be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

Most believers have been taught it's them, their mind, and therefore their flesh that should be involved in renewing their mind. I'm thinking it's the spirit of my mind that comes with a bit of an already renewed mind as I just get out of the way. Perhaps this is why a guy like Paul could say...

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:"

So you disagree because you believe the mind is also the spirit, rather than the soul?

Perhaps you should leave God's Word as is and allow Romans 12:2 to stand as written and allow Ephesians 4:23 to stand as written.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

You need to figure out why God wrote be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12 and why God wrote be renewed in the spirit of your mind in Ephesians 4 ... that would be a more worthy endeavor than you re-writing God's Word as you want it to read because you don't like how God wants it to read.

I would agree "taking on the mind of Christ" is spiritual and not of the flesh.
The flesh is not being perfected.

16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

It is the Holy Spirit dwelling within.

Our minds need to be consistently renewed, moving away from the mind of the flesh and into the mind of Christ.

We must be careful how we hear.

I would ask. In the spirit of whose mind?

I would think it is, "be ye transformed by the renewing of your new mind" of Christ, the mind of faith, yet not of us, but Christ who lives in us : We have no power to renew. He must increase we must decrease.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

I simply believe because at this level to renew the mind is not to make it behave, but rather to make it believe. In doing so I bond in my mind with the spirit of Jesus Christ who has the authority to use the power of God. It's the power of God... by the authority that is in Christ Jesus.

The problem I see is I believe to renew the mind in both Romans and Ephesians deal with putting on the mind of Christ which I believe is walking in the spirit. Just about everyone else seems to think it means to clean up their flesh.
