Why be so arrogant?
From my brother I know love.
From you, not so much.
The only arrogant one here is you.

But please accept these juli mangoes as a sign of my sisterly love. img_20170622_083327.jpg

8If we say we do not bear the guilt of sin, ▼ we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
That makes absolutely no sense, and since neither the Greek nor the English says any such thing, you have MANUFACTURED A STRAW MAN.

But you are refusing to admit that your accusation was bogus. Which is a sin.

I am saying it was a hard to translate verse from what I have read since the specific usage of the word is not used elsewhere in the bible out side of 1 John.
Based on a few translations and some recent texts from that period that contain the word is usage is better understood now.
As being the present tense state of having sinned or suffering under the consequences of sin..

It is in no ways weighty enough on its own to refute the other verses in its own context like.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth - 1 John 1:6

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. - 1John 2:1

3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; 5 but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: 6 the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. - 1 John 2:3-6

28 Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not [j]shrink away from Him in shame [k]at His coming. 29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is [l]born of Him. - 1 John 2:28-

OR other scriptures that state clearly the opposite of the mistranslated 1 John 1:8 for example 1 Peter 4:1-2 which speaks of the need to cease from sin and the mindset of being ready to suffer as how to do so and that it is required to begin to live the rest of your life for the Glory of God.

A badly translated 1 John 1:8 and a poorly understood Romans 7 man make up the foundation of a stronghold in mens minds against the truth of the Gospel and believing in God for all three parts of our salvation.

If Satan cant stop you from getting saved past tense he will do his best to keep you from being saved present tense and leave you as one who will be ashamed and shrink away when Jesus comes.
I do not know what translation of the word is that you study from, but I am curious to know how it translates Paul's words in Romans 7? Paul has the same warfare within him that we all have, of the flesh warring against the Spirit.

Romans 7 is not mistranslated Just misunderstood.
He is speaking as a man under law, crying out to be saved.
Finishing up his argument regrading law and what it was meant for'
Explaining to those who call themselves Jews.
The law came to make our sin worse,
To cause us to see the law and say it is good.
Yet at the same time expose our slavery to sin in our inability to keep it the law.
How we wretched state and in desperate need of a Savior.
The believers situation under a diferent law one of freedom in Christ Jesus sets us free.
Saving us from our wretched state under law in Romans 7 and bring us into the salvation of of God outlines in Romans 8.

That is not to say there is not a working out of our salvation in our lives or a real struggle ahead for those who want all of it.
But Romans 7 is in now way talking about the condition of those in Christ Jesus.
To do so is just missing the context, many have blinders on having an addenda to excuse their ongoing wretched state. Other just find it hard to unlearn something they where tough and held to for so long.
If you can tell me that 1 Peter 4:1-2 does not speak of a believer ceasing from sin so they might begin to live the rest of this life for the Glory of God.
Is that a lie? If it is then tear it out. If not how can you choose one verse over another or think you have it right if one is at odds with your understanding.
If you are not willing to reevaluate your thinking about how it works when confronted by a scripture that causes you to stumble in your understanding you might as well close the book and forget about it all. All or none, hot or cold, all in or all out. That has always been Gods way. IT always costs you everything. including what you think is right.

Yes, I see no evidence for such a rendering.

I'm in no disagreement with what J.C. Ryle stated, I'm in disagreement with your rendering and misapplication of 1 John 1:8.

Be very sure of this - people never reject the Bible because they cannot understand it. They understand it too well; they understand that it condemns their own behavior; they understand that it witnesses against their own sins, and summons them to judgment. They try to believe it is false and useless, because they don't like to believe it is true.

Are you really a Romans 7 wretched man?
Are you a prisoner of the law of sin and its slave? Ro 7:23
is the doing of the good not present in you only the wanting?
Are you stuck in that wretched state of man walking according to the flesh?
Does your being stuck in sin cause you fear death and judgement?

Are you really a Romans 8 overwhelmingly conquering man?
Are you freed from the law of sin by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus?
is the requirement of the Law being fulfilled in you?
Do you no longer walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit?
Does your living by the Spirit and putting to death the deeds of the body result in life and peace in the face of death and judgement?
I was the wretched man but now i am a spirit filled conqueror by the grace and power of God.
