The point is to learn from other peoples genuine questions.
It let it inform your own question to make sure you are asking the best and right questions.
Questions alone can't help me. I need answers.
To show us where we need answers and where we need to question ourselves in the answers we already hold to.
This is confusion. I don't know what you are saying.
You do not have because you do not ask.
Having and asking the right questions are most important.
I do ask, and when I do I expect answers. Which is not what this thread is about.
To the pure all things are pure.
1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

I said fun.

There is big difference between having fun playing the question game with your dad and siblings and making fun of what he says.
I would like to make a couple of points:

1) I specifically directed my comment to the Title of the OP
2) i gave no critique on the content of the OP

As for "knee jerk" reaction............ I do not make knee jerk reactions...........I have been the victim of such far too many times here on CC during the years of my Membership. I read your OP twice, and again this morning, and, while I could critique it, I did not/have not. I simply gave my thoughts on the Title, which I still believe is inappropriate for the "connotation" if not the "denotation" of it's reading.

Perhaps it is a Generational thing. I do not know how old you are. Possibly you are much younger than me, and have a different approach to Bible Studies than I? IMO, the study of the Word of God is a serious study to be done with a sincere and contrite heart, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the understanding of His Word............... That may be the "old fogies" approach, but it is how I approach the study of Scripture.

If you were offended by my comment, then I am sorry for that. I was not trying to offend you, simply state that IMO questioning Gods Word is not something we should do. Now, to be fair to you, possibly the problem is that you did not word the Title correctly to represent your intent?

(anyway..........my thoughts)

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. - James 4:7

How do I submit to God?
is what I am thinking of how it really works?
What does submitting to God look like?
Does the context show an example?
How do you get started?
How far do you need to go?
Is getting started enough to make a difference?
Is it somehow proportional?
Does it have to happen in the order it was given?
....
That's all just questioning based on the first four words.

NO, I DO NOT WANT YOUR ANSWERS.

I want your questions.
I will get my answers from God via the Spirit within me.
Just as all true believers receive truth and understanding from God.

Is it how it think or something else?
is it something I am expected to do?
How do I start?
How far am I expected to go?
Is there an example of what it looks like in the context?
Does just starting to do it make a difference?
Is it somehow proportional?
Do i need to totally submit first?
Why is there a then, is their a reason given to do this?
Does the order matter?

That is just my questions about the first four words.

I want your questions.
I DO NOT want your answers!

I will get my answers from God like every true believer does through the Spirit.

Questioning the bible is fun?

1) Pick a target scripture.
2) Pick an official question keeper
2) Pray for God to lead you in finding the best questions (not answers).
3) Build a list of as many questions as we can think of about the target scripture.

The goal
Come up with the mostest veryest bestest questions about the target scripture and take them to God in prayer.

Come back and share any additional questions God may have given you.

The one rule, no answers, only questions.
The one other rule, genuine questions from the heart.

It will sound like a chat room full of Three and a half year old spiritual kids.

Give the trusty random bible verse thingy a spin and we get..... Drum Roll Please

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. - James 4:7

A tough one, the simpler and shorter they are the harder they are to question.
Don't be greedy one question to a customer, please.

I honestly think this was a fun idea. Maybe there was just more clarification needed as to how to participate.
I don't think you ever meant it to be questioning the validity of the Bible, or making fun of it. I wish there was a lighter hearted place on CC to talk about the Bible where one doesn't need to take blood pressure meds before hand. lol. I've always enjoyed discussing the Bible with fellow believers. This seems very different. I need to keep reading through the BDF to put my finger on why it seems so stressful.

Are the below questions, sort of what you meant? Sorry I was super greedy and asked too many.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. - James 4:7

Why do we need to submit ourselves to God?
What is submitting ourselves to God in response to as it says, Submit yourselves, THEN to God?
How do we submit ourselves to God?
How do we resist the devil?
What Bible characters do we know who resisted the devil?
Have you had occasion to resist the devil? What did that look like?
Will the devil only flee from us if we resist him?
How long will he flee for?

Is this what you meant? Only just one question at a time? And not answering them, just coming up with more and more questions about it? Wondering is a form of worship. We are giving the Lord our attention and open hearts for Him!! He can answer these questions better than any human can.

Wait, what? We submit questions, you take them to God and then... you tell us the answers? Or do you keep them and leave us to ask God for ourselves?

I think I'm still missing the motive here.

maybe... maybe... this is about just being able to be inquisitive without having to have all of the answers. Just not in this post.
It seems like a good exercise.

I thought of another question too...
Is there a relationship between submitting and resisting?

There is a whole forum for this. It's called the BDF. (bible discussion forum)
Please zeroturbulence, I just ate. Whenever BDF is mentioned I get a sour stomach. o_O

But yeah, that's what BDF is. And a thread like this brings BDF in this forum!
Mega dittos on that. This thread definitely has a BDF flavor to it.

What is the point of wanting questions but no answers? It would be a very one-sided conversation for sure. My question is why are you questioning the bible? If you strictly get your answers from God does that mean you don't place a value on what others may have to offer?

Yeah, kind of hard to connect the dots.
You have to get your answers from God.
Not like there is any other valid way.
But you may just find a new question you would like to bring to Him here.

IF people just played the game and had fun and did not jump to judgement it would not taste so BDF.
Either play or stop complaining and sucking all the fun out of it.

if you like I can start one for the BDF crowd called.

My opinion about the bible is fun. - single player game

There was no Joke.

It was an invitation to a game of questions as a fun way of learning about the word of God.

Yes I have a strong reaction to having someone imply I am mocking the word of God.
To someone respected cutting of others from something that could bring them closer to God.

i was not Joking about questioning scripture in order to learn and grow from it.

Do you think the word of God is a joke???
Would you not respond strongly to someone implying that you did?
My question - Is the word of God a joke? No need to answer.

The plot thickens. I really feel that a serious investigation needs to be launched in order to get to the bottom of these request for questions.

Ahh yes, I know the perfect man for this job: Screen shot 2012-09-20 at 9.41.03 AM.png

ok well one question or if I think of any more...

where does the devil flee to?

God just says he goes down to the pit where he belongs.

thats all I can think of. Not really getting this game sorry!

I thought God asked Job a lot of questions Job couldnt answer like..where were you when I made the universe? Check out Job chapter 38 and 39 There's LOADS of questions.
