Alright, so there are a lot of folks on here who see Christians who believe in once saved always saved... and then go to the place of attacking their security in Christ, believing they are not walking the walk.

Now personally, the majority of osas proponents I know are actually very faithful.. because they are secure, because they know unconditional love from Jesus toward them.

And so.. for the believers who believe in osas and are not walking the walk...

How bout showing them what walking the walk is, rather than attacking their security in Christ?

I see eternal security as a launching pad for faithfulness, because it inspires true courage and loyalty.

Like a child adventuring confidently because they are secure in their parents love.

Because attacking is the norm here. Has been for a long time. From both sides.

How would we know someone is not walking the walk?

There is a lot of gamesmanship in the BDF that's for sure.
Earnestly contend for the faith is the command in Jude. Fight the good fight prepared for battle as a GOOD soldier Paul told Timothy.

What most cannot grasp or will overlook....this is a WAR and we are in a WAR. A war between...

GOOD AND Evil
LIGHT AND Dark
TRUE and False
RIGHT AND Wrong
A CELESTIAL KINGDOM and A Fallen kingdom
GOD and Satan

And eternity is at stake and like GOD.....I HATE EVERY FALSE WAY!

IT IS ENOUGH that a disciple be as HIS MASTER.

We are to judge what is sin and what is not, but if we attack the person promoting what is they think of as against scripture it is considered a personal attack, instead of a scripture discussion.

It goes both ways, to both the ones pointing out their scripture interpretation and to those who those opposed to the scripture interpretation. They often turn it into personal attacks, instead of a scripture discussion. It turns this wonderful site into a way to commit sin instead of a place to discuss scripture.

Hard to tell in a bible discussion forum I guess eh? It's all typing.. we don't see what people are actually doing for Jesus.

But of course there are fruits of having the Holy Spirit indwelling someone's soul.

It was the Apostle Paul that said, "Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth (Gal. 4:16)?"

When the Preacher or Teacher points every jot and tittle of the Word of God to Calvary the Word of God becomes alive with POWER; Why? Because the life is in the BLOOD. Without the BLOOD, the Word means nothing (1 Cor.1:18, Lev. 17:11, Gal. 5:4). Therefore, preaching and teaching Christ Crucified the Word becomes alive: Hebrews 4:12

“For the Word of God is quick (alive), and powerful (active, energizing), and sharper than any two-edged sword (refers to the ability of the Word of God to “probe”), piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow (doesn’t mean the dividing asunder of soul from spirit or joints from marrow, but rather that the Word of God pierces the soul and the spirit, adequately proclaiming what man ought to be and can only be in Christ; as well, the Word of God portrays to us the Holy Spirit and His Power, and proclaims the fact that He Alone can “quicken our mortal bodies” [Rom. 8:11], which refers to giving us power to yield this physical body to that which is Righteous [Rom. 6:12-13]), and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (carries the idea of “sifting out and analyzing evidence”).” JSM

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year (daily) of the Lord. Luke 4:18-19

We know persecution will come because we preach Christ Crucified. If we preached Jesus alone without the Cross, persecution will cease. We will at the same time remove ourselves from Christ. Gal. 1:6

“but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the Gospel according to the Power of God (actually means to take one’s share of the ill-treatment, which will always be accompanied by the Power of God, which gives us Grace to stand the test);” 2 Tim. 1:8

With Love,

I think what it boils down to is one inescapable factor before all else. The anonymity the Internet provides invites those who hold deep hostility or the desire to exercise their inner ahole, to vent without consequences. Save for being thrown out of a place. And likely they would return to continue their little games. And all this without being seen or known personally.

Who someone presents themselves to be, or pretends to be, on their computer gives great insight into their true character. If they're an honest moral person who loves God, they're not going to fake anything. And they're not going to display their faith in a positive light, in the only way possible in a forum, in print form, so as to imitate the demeanor of Christ, and instead appear as hostile, arrogant, the inner ahole coming out to play, or disrespectful, that may tell you where their heart really is. And what they really are.
Some contend when they act that way that they're behaving the same as Jesus did. That's likely news to Jesus.

Even Jesus, when he cut on the Pharisee did so in a manner that they would relate to the identities and the message he was sending them by using such language when he called them vipers, and sons of the adversary Satan. Jesus was God! He wasn't arrogant when he taught people. He wasn't mean spirited, condescending, when he challenged the men that wanted to stone Mary of Magdala to death. He was confident in his power because as God he had nothing to prove. And yet, humbled himself to arrive in the form of a man to prove his grace was a free irrevocable gift to the world that he loved so much he died to change the sinful state of all who dwell upon earth.

What helped me when I was browsing communities of Christ on the Net to see which one I wanted to join is , I'd read someone in a Bible forum that was being the jackass toward a member. And then I'd imagine Jesus, usually using The Passion of the Christ version, Jim Caviezel, as I did so, saying those words of that jackass I was reading.

Imagine the worst post anywhere that you've read in a Bible forum and from someone who thinks they're an example of Christ as they defend what he said. Then imagine where Christianity would be today if that was Christ in his day. Doubt the faith would be around to boast so many followers today.

In short, it's a matter of perspective. If someone is an example of, Colossians 3:8 "But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth." And, James 1:26 "If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless." , I'd advise don't let it get to you. Pray for them. They are not who they think they are in Christ. They can't defend the words of God when they provide the example God's words would rebuke their behavior.

It is your answer to the question: "how can we tell is someone is not walking the walk".

The goal of a forum to discuss scripture is NOT to make it a way to judge anyone's walk. That judgement is entirely up to the Lord and we are not to try to take the Lord's place. A bible discussion is to discuss scripture. Anyone using it to judge others is misusing the forum as a way for them to sin.

Amen wattie. Christ speaks of this in the Holy Bible where people that think that were saved, were not.
I’ve had feelings that really come unto me as “being reborn”. But life situations grab me and before I know it I’m on my knees asking His forgiveness. The perfector of our faith is a too good example to say as mondane human “I’m saved, I’m free of sin.” We will never be without sin until we enter His kingdom I guess. I don’t even dare call myself christian simply for having faith in Him. Being christian is a 24/7 thing and I am too sinful to get even near His perfect ways.

Life is too catchy and this world has gotten to me. I love this world in some way... Romans 12:1-2 is therefor one of my favorites. I need to grab on our Holy Bible constantly or lose touch in worldly diversions and obstacles. Which are on this world and internet in abundance. It’s everywhere.
Only repentance under His blood can save another. Maybe one should not condemn the sin alone but direct them to the true image of God, which is Jesus Christ.
Most of humanity walk in the image of the beast and are conformed to his world, as am I still in some way I guess.

Faithful to what?

Their doctrine and their leader of it?

Or the pure unadulterated word of God?

They are faithful to their world “church” tradition, not the pure word of God. That’s what I have witnessed both in this forum and outside of it. It grieves me very much to see.

The skillfulness by which they make the scriptures void is breathtaking to say the least.

I'm all for fighting the war against evil.
But we aren't supposed to be fighting each other all the time. It's counterproductive to say the least.
In this regard we have a problem. Let's own it.

I disagree....and it is pure ignorance to believe, say or think that a claim of Christianity = Christian and or that most hold the truth.....this site is full of people that devalue Jesus, his truth, his promises, claim to be sinless, self saving, cultish beliefs (Calvinists) and more religious creeds than Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavors........and to OPPOSE ERROR is not to be fighting SOMEONE, BUT RATHER a dogma.....!!

More BS and bias ignorance of the truth directed at those that have the truth!

I agree that we see a complete range of peculiar viewpoints here. And sometimes to me it looks like everyone is pushing their particular sect or religious dogma rather than genuinely discussing the bible. And we must be careful not to accept heresies.

But perhaps we should be more discerning and less angry?
