' Prayers without ceasing 'always puts me to shame . Gentiles are included in the Gospel ' call ' which still radical at this time . Setting the tone for the following Jew / Gentile passages to come .

Paul has finished his greeting and is now addressing his audience that he is writing to which is Jew and Gentile believers. He acknowledges and validates the Gentile believers and confirms that they are called along with the Jews to BOTH belong to Jesus Christ.

There was a great conflict between Jews and Gentile believers about who belongs to Jesus Christ. It was hard for Jews that had always had to separate from Gentiles, to now join themselves to Gentiles as equal believers in Jesus Christ.

Paul again is confirming that God has now opened the door and BOTH Jew and Gentile are called by God when he says, "...to ALL in Rome who are loved by God and called to be His holy people..."

Paul extends and imparts the heart of God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ which is "grace" and "peace" to the Believers in Rome which is basically, saying our Father and Lord Jesus Christ offer you grace (not judgment or wrath) and peace (no fear of shame because all your sins are forgiven).

Paul expresses thankfulness to God because of Jesus Christ saving all of them. Paul knows they are saved because he is hearing reports of their faith in Jesus Christ all over the world.

Possibly stories of their love for each other Jew and Gentile, bond or free, rich or poor - acts of healing, preaching the gospel, prophesying, simple kindness toward each other, etc. - all the stories are being told Paul and he is rejoicing!

Paul is asking God to confirm that he (Paul) is always remembering the believers.......

10 in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God’s will the way may be opened for me to come to you.

......in his prayers. Basically, Paul is saying, "God knows and can confirm that I am always praying for you."

Next, Paul asks God to open up a way that he could come to the believers in Rome and visit them and see them.
Just my own thoughts.......Paul is probably in prison and asking God for a "Get out of jail FREE Card" so he can visit the believers. lol!

Many are judging the Jews and condemning them as a people because they did do not accept Christ. That judgement is up to the Lord to make, it is not our place to judge them. We are to thank them, actually. Not thank them for not knowing Christ, but because it is through the Jews that we have such as the Psalms, and even that we have Christ as a man who was sacrificed for us. Christ the man was a Jew.

There was always a remnant among the Jews who truly knew God and reports His ways to us. Christ said if you knew Moses you would know Me. We are still to know of the principles of God through the Jews. Showing us God is the work God gave them to do.

Love verse 12. about encouraging each other by each others faith . And that Paul also needs encouraging. We could forget to encourage those that are leading us maybe .

How ridiculous. Every word in the Bible is From God. Paul is talking about the Gospel . Whos that about ? Romans is ALL about Jesus. Every word. what a foolish thing you have just said .

Bible study is a difficult topic. It needs a leader, and a leader must have vast biblical knowledge and that knowledge must not be tainted with following a man's interpretation like even Luther or the Pope.

bible study can also be separated by how much the students know about scripture.

I found a man to lead who is free on the net and assures us that he only uses his scripture knowledge, without being led by any church dogma. I feel accepting his leadership to bible study still needs to be done with care, and should have several students so scripture comes first, not the leader. I have searched for years for others to join me in this study under this leadership so several minds can check on him. He is very deep and involved, there are colleges who use his leadership for a class and I have been turned down by every single person in either my church or my town.

The bible is based on that when sin entered our world God gave blood on the altar (Christ) for the atonement of sin, and Christ fulfilled that. You cannot read any verse of scripture that isn't related to that. If you study scripture that is what you are studying. How can you say any scripture ignores it?

I do not believe in studying the Pope, Luther, or any man who has interpreted scripture with his own additions to it. The Pharisee scholars even came up with the idea that scripture told them how far they could travel on Sunday, their own additions to scripture. Our churches say the Pharisees were wrong to do that, and go ahead with adding their own interpretations of scripture and say they are right to do that.

Any study of scripture is learning about scripture, not men. Scripture points to these additions.

Learning history so we can put the writings in the way they were written in order to understand what God was telling the authors is not, as some misguided people say, studying the additions man makes to scripture. It helps to know the true intent of the Lord. That is what the study of scripture is about, learning about our God, but not about man's interpretation of God.

When our Lord and Savior spoke to Peter I believe He said, "You are Peter, and upon this rock I build my church." The word, church, could just as well have been synagogue or simply assembly.

The church cannot be a building except in modern usage. Also it could be congregation...

Paul would often lay his hands on believers and impart spiritual gifts as the Holy Spirit lead him to do so. He simply didn't have much interference with the Holy Spirit flowing through him to others.

Paul had learned to not have unforgiveness or not be prideful, etc. He was persecuted, abased and blessed and highly honored but, he had learned how to let nothing move him or interrupt the flow of the Holy Spirit through him.

12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Paul was always encouraged and strengthened in his faith when he heard of or encountered other believers strong in their faith. It's like two soldiers on the frontlines in the battle trenches encouraging each other - I know what you're going through - I'm going through it too!

Persecutions, demonic attacks, Holy Spirit times of refreshing, dreams, visions, being hungry, being sick, being well fed, being healed, living in lack, living in plenty, prayer and fasting, deep revelations from the Holy Spirit, etc.

13 I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

Paul wants the believers in Rome to know that he is not neglecting them but, he has wanted and planned so many times to visit them but, the plans just never worked out. Paul wanted to visit both Jews and Gentiles because he wanted to sow seeds of God's Word, God's Holy Spirit, teachings, training, equipping them for good works in Christ because he would receive a harvest of treasures in Heaven for the good he could do with the believers for the Kingdom of God.

14 I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.

Paul made himself available and opened his heart of acceptance to ALL people - Hebrews/Jews - Greeks/Gentiles - wise/foolish and I'm sure also rich or poor, bond or free.

15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.

Paul had learned to not discriminate and was eager to share the good news of Jesus Christ to all people in Rome.

Note: I think Rome was like his "hometown" because in Acts Paul appeals to Caesar.

Romans 1:16-20

Paul is declaring that he is not in fear of what man thinks about him preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, nor is he afraid of persecution because Paul boldly states the fact that the Blood and Body of Jesus Christ being shed and dying on the cross is the power of God to save anyone and everyone - the Jew first and then the Gentile.

17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Paul knows everyone knew that obeying God = righteousness and disobeying God = unrighteousness. However, no one yet understood the righteousness that comes by faith which God revealed in His Son Jesus Christ.

Righteousness by faith is heavenly knowledge and can ONLY be known if the Holy Spirit reveals Jesus Christ to a person. Otherwise, the person remains in "works" to be righteous and never comes to the full knowledge of Salvation in Jesus Christ alone. Thus, those declared "righteous" by God are to live by faith - according to the Truth that has been made known to them by the Holy Spirit.

Faith is "heavenly knowledge that ONLY God can make known to us and we immediately know it is TRUE, love it and live our lives according to the Truth that God (NOT man/human reasoning) has given us."

18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,

Through all generations, God's wrath is made known from heaven against wickedness of people that rebel against God's Truth whenever it is revealed to them - either by prophet, His Word, His Spirit.....faith is heavenly knowledge of Absolute Truth and God gives every man a measure of FAITH.

Each person has to either receive God's Truth or reject God's Truth - man suppresses God's Truth when they mock or scorn it so that they and others remain in wicked behavior because they LOVE the evil. They have NO LOVE for God's Truth.

19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.

God has made His Truth plain and known to all because all have a measure of faith and God has created all of creation to testify of Him.

20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

All of creation is testifying of God's existence. All the details and uniqueness of every living thing......could never be without a Creator with unmatched eternal power and ability.

The Butterfly testifies of new life in Jesus Christ, the moon testifies that believers have no light of their own - we get to reflect God's Light from Jesus Christ to the whole world - every eye sees the moon; the moon reflects the light of the sun.

There are all kinds of ways creation testifies of its Creator - God. We as believers in Jesus Christ are suppose to testify of Salvation - God's forgiveness and restoration of all things - the ministry of reconciliation.

God wants us to know Him and to love Him. Love has to have a choice or it is not love. Creation was in perfect harmony knowing and loving God before the fall of Adam and Eve. The only choice man had to make was to NOT eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Well, we all know how that turned out.

Now, good and evil is EVERYWHERE in creation - there's plants that give life and poisonous death; animals that are kind and those that will kill us, good ground and bad ground.....etc.

All generations are without excuse. There is a God, He has a good side and a bad side. I choose to know Him and love Him and our relationship stays on His good side. Judgment and Wrath awaits those that refuse to know Him and love Him.

It's just a simple choice.....Life or Death.......there are NO EXCUSES.

25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
