Jesus didnt REPENT on our behalf. He was SACRIFICED on our behalf. We need to do the repenting.

repenting isnt just recognising Jesus is the son of God. Because even the demons believe and tremble.
Isnt that a contradiction? Jesus did all the work so that we don't have to ?

Do I need to spell it out for you???

I repent
I repent
I repent
I repent
I repent
I repent
I think you need to show where the word ' repentance ' is in Mathew 18 please ??

its about forgiving someone whos REPENTED

Maybe read it again. You seem fixated on changing your mind, but obviouly dont know anything about feeling sorry for what youve done, and having a change of HEART.

Do you have a heart?
sure you have a mind, but you would be a complete robot not to have a heart.
Mat 18
FORGiVE
aphiemi
    1. to let go, give up a debt, forgive, to remit
    2. to give up, keep no longer
  1. to permit, allow, not to hinder, to give up a thing to a person
This is not ' repent ' . Things different are not the same .

ok you know how there are 4 gospels and some of them say the same thing but in different words. Luke 17:3-4

is the same story as matthew 18:21-22

in Lukes, Jesus says the brother says he repents
In Matthew, Peter says when a brother SINS against him, Jesus says he must forgive him.

I hope you totally get how much God has to forgive us for our sins, its. not just we change our mind about Him.

My understanding is that repentance simply means ' change of mind ' .
It could also be breaking frame from a current set of propositions.

Jesus gives an example of repentance being a change of mind in Mathew 21 .
28¶But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
29He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he REPENTED AND WENT.
30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.
31Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
32For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
So we see two things . He repented ( changed his mind and went . So repenting isn't the action its the changing of mind .

Acts 5:31
He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Acts 11:18
When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, “Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life.”

2 Timothy 2:25
with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

Romans 2:4
Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

The “change of mind” is to turn away from the flesh to follow the Spirit.

Jeremiah 31:33-34
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

If you have a view of Repentance that leads to forgiveness of iniquity and remembering sins no more but it doesn't lead to Gods Law written in hearts then it also doesn't lead to the people being Gods People.

This is what True Repentance leads to. Its the desire to DO the things in Matthew 5 and not just read about them.

The verse literally says that's to Israel .
